Setup
Mounting the Boom Arm
The boom arm should be mounted to a wall or surface in the following
orientation:
Make sure the wall or surface will support the weight of the boom arm plus the weight of the lights or devices you plan to mount.
Concrete or Masonry Wall Mounting
Caution! Make sure the concrete wall or block is solid and at least 6 inches thick. If the concrete exhibits cracks or other defects, this may result in failure of the concrete anchors and cause personal injury or damage your mounted equipment.
Warning! Do not drill into the mortar between concrete blocks.
- Use the mounting plate as a template to mark the large drilling holes for the four wall anchors. Tip: Use a bubble level to ensure the bracket is straight.
- Use a masonry drill bit to predrill the marked spots with the appropriately sized hole for the included wall anchors. Then clean out the debris from the holes.
- If necessary, use a hammer to gently tap the anchors into the holes up to the edges of the expansion sleeves.
- Remove the nut, locking washer, and flat washer from the anchors, and place the boom arm’s mounting plate onto the bolts.
- Replace the flat washers on the bolts first, then the locking washers, and then the nut. Use a wrench to tighten the nut until secure.
Attaching to a Wood Wall or Surface
-
Use the mounting plates as templates to mark the small drilling holes.
Tip: Use a bubble level to ensure the mounting plate is straight. -
Hold the LSA-WMB4HD in place and drill in four wood screws through the mounting plate and into the surface.
Mounting the Boom Arm to Dry Wall
Attaching the boom to drywall will require the use of wall fasteners (drywall
anchors, molly bolts, or toggle bolts).
Before mounting the boom to drywall, check the information that comes with the
fasteners to confirm they can support the weight of the boom arm with your
equipment.
Attach the brackets with your choice of wall fasteners using the appropriate
drill bit. For best results, locate the studs in the wall and use wood screws
in the center holes.
Mounting a Light to the Boom Arm
- Loosen the stud lock, and insert the 5/8-inch stud into the two-way receiver. Then tighten the stud lock until secure. If you’re attaching a device with a 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 mounting socket, make sure the stud is inserted in the proper direction.
- Place the light fixture’s receiver onto the stud, and tighten the light’s locking knob until secure.
For devices or accessories with a 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 mounting socket, screw the device onto the stud first. Then attach the device and 5/8-inch stud to the boom arm.
Adjusting the Boom Arm
Tilt Angle
Important! Always keep one hand on the light when changing the position
of the boom arm. Never exceed the published load capacity.
To raise or lower the boom arm, loosen the ratchet handle. Push the boom arm
up or down to the desired position. Lock the position by tightening the
ratchet handle.
