Introduction

Thank you for choosing Impact. The Impact WM-SB is a pantograph-style boom that supports lights and accessories up to 11 pounds by moving your gear off the floor to minimize clutter and save space. This boom arm can be mounted to masonry or wood walls and features robust steel construction for a solid and dependable hold. The pantograph has a 31-inch height adjustment range and a 55-inch maximum length. The riser has a 13-inch height adjustment range and the pantograph can swivel 180° for ideal light and accessory placement. Large ergonomic locking T-handles give you a good grip for plenty of torque when adjusting length, height, and swivel.

Setup

Attaching the WM-SB to a Concrete Wall

Caution! Make sure the concrete wall or block is solid and at least 6 inches thick. If the concrete exhibits cracks or other defects, this may result in failure of the concrete anchors and cause personal injury or damage your mounted equipment.
Warning! Do not drill into the mortar between concrete blocks.

  1. Use the mounting plates as templates to mark the large drilling holes for the wall anchors.
Tip: Use a bubble level to ensure the WM-SB is straight.

  2. Use a 1/2-inch (12 mm) masonry drill bit to predrill the marked spots 2 inches (51 mm) deep. Then clean out the debris from the holes.

  3. If necessary, use a hammer to gently tap the anchors into the holes so the bolt protrudes from the hole and the expansion sleeve is no longer visible.

  4. Remove the nut, locking washer, and flat washer from the anchors, and place the WM-SB’s mounting plates onto the bolts.

  5. Replace the flat washers on the bolts first, then the locking washers, and the nut. Use a wrench to tighten the nut until secure.

Attaching the WM-SB to a Wood Wall or Surface

  1. Use the mounting plates as templates to mark the small drilling holes
  2. Hold the WM-SB in place and drill in four wood screws in both mounting plates.

Height Adjustment

  • Pantograph:
Loosen the pull lock and the locking collar, and slide the pantograph to the desired height. Make sure the locking collar is flush with the bottom of the pantograph, and tighten the locks until secure.

  • Riser:
Loosen the riser height lock, and adjust the riser. Then tighten the riser height lock until secure.

  • Length Adjustment
Loosen the pull lock and the riser pull lock to adjust the length of the pantograph. Make sure both locks are securely tightened before you continue.

  • Angle Adjustment
To adjust the angle from the wall, loosen the pull lock, and rotate the pantograph into position. Then tighten the pull lock until secure.

  • Mounting Devices to the WB-SB
The WM-SB can accommodate light fixtures and accessories with a 5/8- inch receiver or 3/8-16 socket. To mount devices with a 1/4-20 socket, use a 3/8-16 female to 1/4-20 male adapter (available separately).
