Product Usage Instructions: Jump Starting
- Check the clamps and cables for any damage (burn marks, damaged handles, springs, or exposed copper wiring) before every use. Replace any damaged parts.
- Ensure that the battery is jumped and the booster source has the same voltage (6V or 12V).
- Position the host vehicle or power source adjacent to the disabled vehicle with a discharged battery, ensuring they do not touch each other.
- Turn off all electrical loads and set the parking brake on all vehicles. Place automatic transmission vehicles in PARK and manual transmission vehicles in NEUTRAL.
- Ensure that the vent caps on both batteries are tight and level. Place a damp cloth over any vent caps, keeping it clear of fan blades, belts, and other moving parts.
- On a negative ground system, connect the positive (POS, +) cable to the positive (pos, +) terminals of both vehicle batteries (host and disabled vehicles). Avoid touching any vehicle part other than the battery-positive terminal with the clamps.
- Connect the negative (NEG, -) cable to the negative (neg, -) terminal of the host vehicle’s battery.
- Start the host vehicle’s engine and allow it to idle.
- Attempt to start the disabled vehicle. Do not crank for more than 6 seconds. If the vehicle does not start, turn off the ignition and wait for 3 minutes before attempting again.
- Once the disabled vehicle is started, remove the booster cables in the opposite order of the connection sequence: first, remove the negative cable from the host vehicle’s battery, then remove the positive cable from both batteries.
Failure to follow instructions may cause damage or explosion, always shield

Safety Information
WARNING
Read these instructions completely before using the Booster Cables and save
them for future reference. Before using the Booster Cables to jump-start a
car, truck or boat read these instructions and the instruction manual/safety
information provided by the car, truck, or boat manufacturer. Following all
manufacturers’ instructions and safety procedures will reduce the risk of
accidents. Working around lead-acid batteries may be dangerous. Lead-acid
batteries release explosive gases during normal operation, charging, and jump-
starting. Carefully read and follow these instructions for safe use. Always
follow the specific instructions in this manual\ and on the Booster Cables
each time you jump-start using the Booster Cables. All lead-acid batteries
(car, truck and boats) produce hydrogen gas which may violently explode in the
presence of fire or sparks. Do not smoke, use matches or a cigarette lighter
while near batteries. Do not handle the battery while wearing vinyl clothing
because static electricity sparks are generated when vinyl clothing is rubbed.
Always wear eye protection, appropriate protective clothing and other safety
equipment when working near lead-acid batteries. Do not touch your eyes while
working on or around lead-acid batteries. Use extreme care while working
within the engine compartment, because moving parts may cause severe injury.
Read and follow all safety instructions published in the vehicle’s Owner’s
Manual. Batteries being jump-started with the Booster Cables likely contain
liquid acids which are hazardous if spilled.
General precautions for use
- Someone should always be within range of your voice or close enough to come to your aid when you work near a lead-acid battery.
- Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case battery acid contacts skin, clothing or eyes. Protective eyewear should always be worn when working near lead-acid batteries.
- If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water. If acid enters eye, immediately flood eye with cold running water for at least 10 minutes and get medical attention immediately.
- Be extra cautious to reduce risk of dropping a metal tool onto a battery. It might spark or short-circuit the battery or another electrical part that may cause an explosion.
- Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, and watches when working with a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery can produce a shortcircuit current high enough to weld a ring or the like to metal, causing a severe burn.
- NEVER charge or jump-start a frozen battery.
- To prevent arcing, NEVER allow clamps to touch together or to contact the same piece of metal.
- Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may result in a risk of damage to the unit or injury to personnel.
- The Booster Cables may be used under any weather condition – rain, snow, hot
- cold temperatures.
- Do not submerge in water.
- Do not operate with flammables such as gasoline, etc.
Jump Starting Instructions
Safety Check List
Always Perform this Step Before Use to Ensure Safe Operation. Check to make
sure that the clamps and cables are in good working order. Signs of damage
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Burn marks on the jaws
- Damaged clamp handles
- Damaged clamp springs
- Damaged cables where copper wiring may be exposed (insulation jacket deteriorated, cut, or missing)
- Verifying these simple checkpoints before every use will keep your Booster Cables safe to use and increase its service life.
Note : Both the battery to be jumped and the booster source must be of
the same voltage (6 or 12V, etc.).
Note: Power sources other than batteries should not exceed 15V for use
with 12V systems or 8V for use with a 6V system.
Note : Position the “host” vehicle, or other power source, adjacent to
the “disabled” vehicle with a discharged battery so that booster cables can be
connected easily between both vehicles. Make certain that the vehicles do not
touch each other

Turn off all electrical loads and set the parking brake on all vehicles. Place automatic transmission vehicles in “PARK” and manual transmission vehicles in “NEUTRAL”.

Be sure that the vent caps are tight and level on both batteries. Place a damp cloth over any vent caps on each battery, making certain it is clear of fan blades, belts, and other moving parts.

Determine whether the discharged (dead) battery has the negative (-) or the positive (+) terminal connected to the ground. The ground lead is connected to the engine block, the vehicle frame, or some other good metallic ground. The battery terminal connected to the starter is the one that is not grounded. (All vehicles manufactured in the U.S.A. after 1955 have the negative battery terminal grounded. All European and Asian passenger vehicles manufactured after 1971 have the negative battery terminal grounded.)

On a negative ground system, connect the positive (POS, +) cable to the positive (pos, +) terminals of both vehicle batteries (host and disabled vehicles). Do not allow the clamps to touch any vehicle part other than the battery-positive (POS, +) terminal.

On a negative ground system, connect one end of the negative (NEG, -) cable to the negative (NEG, -) terminal of the host vehicle battery. Connect the other end of the negative (NEG, -) cable to a vehicle ground on the disabled vehicle (engine
block, vehicle frame, or other heavy-gauge, non-moving, unpainted metal part – never connect to the carburetor, fuel lines, or sheet metal body parts). Again, do not allow the clamps to touch each other or a common conductor. -
Start the host vehicle’s engine and allow it to idle. Attempt to start the disabled vehicle. Do not crank for more than 6 seconds. If the vehicle does not start in this amount of time, turn the ignition of the disabled vehicle to OFF and allow to rest for 3 minutes before attempting again.

Once the disabled vehicle is started, remove the booster cables in the opposite order of the connection sequence.

Clore Automotive warrants this product to be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of the original end-user purchase. This warranty extends to each person who acquires lawful ownership within one year of the original retail purchase, but is void if the product has been abused, altered, misused or improperly packaged and damaged when returned for repair.
