Kit

Product Information

The LR100DHK Design Hardware Electric Latch Retraction Kit is a retrofit installation kit designed for use with the 1000R and 1000V models of exit devices. It is manufactured by Security Door Controls, a leading provider of security products. The kit includes an adapter, E.L.R. linkage, retaining link, screws, and other necessary components.

The LR100DHK kit requires a 24VDC power supply, drawing a current of 700/200mA. It is equipped with a red (+) and black (-) wire for electrical connection. The kit is patented under the number 8,851,530.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure that the exit device being retrofitted has enough space to accommodate the standard E.L.R. assembly. Verify the distance from the end of the touchpad to the end rail.
  2. Place the adapter over the device and use it as a template to drill a .107 diameter through the hole.
  3. Cut the existing base of the exit device to the dimension shown (2.450).
  4. Remove and discard the dogging mechanism from the exit device.
  5. Tap through the hole to accept a 6-32 thread and attach the adapter using the supplied 6-32 x 3/8 Truss Head Machine Screw.
  6. Place the E.L.R. linkage inside the adapter and secure it in place with the supplied retaining link and 4-40 x 1/4 Pan Head Screw.
  7. Connect the red (+) and black (-) wires of the kit to a 24VDC power source.
  8. Power the unit to activate the E.L.R., causing it to retract towards the exit device.
  9. Depress the push pad to properly position the E.L.R. into the working position. Pull back on the E.L.R. assembly to remove any slack.
  10. Fasten the set screws on the assembly to secure the kit into the device.
  11. Release the push pad and verify the operation by de-energizing and re-energizing the E.L.R. kit to ensure proper latch retraction.

Note for Retro-Fitting Vertical Rod Devices:
Before retro-fitting an electric latch assembly into a vertical device:

  1. Disconnect the vertical rods from the device.
  2. Install the electric latch assembly as shown above.
  3. Energize the ELR so that the push pad is dogged down to allow for proper alignment of the vertical rods.
  4. Reconnect the vertical rods to the device and make any necessary adjustments.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Retrofit Installation Note:
42″ or 48″ exit devices that have been modified to fit a 36″ or smaller opening, may not have the required space to fit the standard E. L. R. assembly. Always verify the distance from the end of the touchpad to the end rail, and if necessary, consult with the factory for an appropriate selection.

Place the adapter over the device and use it as a template to drill a .107″ Dia. Thru Hole.

ELECTRICAL DATA

  • 24VDC @ 700/200mA
  • RED (+) BLK (-)
  • PATENT #8,851,530

Once the linkage is attached, power the unit. This will cause the E.L.R. to pull towards the exit device. Depress on the push pad, by doing so will properly position the E.L.R. into the appropriate working position. Pull back on the E.L.R. assembly to remove any slack. Then fasten the set screws on the assembly to secure the kit into the device. Release the push pad and verify operation by de-energizing and re-energizing the E.L.R. kit to verify that the kit is properly retracting the latch.

NOTE Retro-Fitting Vertical Rod Devices:
Before retrofitting an electric latch assembly into a vertical device, the following must be done to ensure proper alignment. Disconnect the vertical rods from the device. Install the electric latch assembly as shown above. Once the ELR is properly installed energize it so that the push pad is dogged down, doing so it will allow for proper alignment for the vertical rods. Finally, reconnect the vertical rods to the device and make the proper adjustments.
