DENALI Charger
Important Safeguards
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this charger is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow
all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
WARNING Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
- This charger is not a toy. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the charger.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- Examine the battery charger regularly for damage, especially the cord, plug and enclosure. If the battery charger is damaged, it must not be used until it has been repaired.
- Use chargers only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
- Do not use a battery pack or charger that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
- Do not expose a battery pack or charger to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 265° F (130° C) may cause explosion.
- Do not use this charger in damp or wet environment.
- Do not expose charger to rain or snow. Water entering the charger may result in electric shock or fire.
- Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or use the charger outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery pack and increase the risk of fire.
- Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the charger is maintained.
- Place charger on flat non-flammable surfaces and away from flammable materials. Carpeting and other heat-insulating surfaces block proper air circulation which may cause overheating of the charger and battery pack. If smoke or melting of the charger or battery pack is observed, unplug the charger immediately and do not use the battery pack or charger.
- Do not touch the uninsulated portion of charging pins or insulated battery terminals. There is a risk of electric shock.
Extension cords
WARNING AN EXTENSION CORD SHOULD NOT BE USED UNLESS ABSOLUTELY
NECESSARY. Use of improper extension cord could result in risk of fire and
electrical shock. If an extension cord is used, make sure:
- a. The pins on plug of extension cord are the same number, size, and shape as those of plug on charger.
- b. The extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition.
- c. The wire size is large enough for AC ampere rating of charger as specified below:
- d. An extension cord is a temporary solution. Move the charger to a standard receptacle/ outlet as soon as the charging has been completed.

Intended Use
- This charger is intended for charging the US/Can: ABYS 197B-00, ABYS 196B-00, EU & UK: ABYS 197B-00E, ABYS 196B-00E battery pack models only. Do not attempt to charge other battery packs with this charger.
- This charger is intended for household use only.
- This charger is intended to be used in dry indoor areas only.
Before First Use
Danger: Risk of suffocation!
Keep any packaging materials away from children and pets – these materials are
a potential source of danger, e.g. suffocation.
- Remove all the packing materials.
- Remove and review all components before use.
- Check the charger for transport damages.
Operation
Charging a battery pack
CAUTION Risk of injury and fire!
Use this charger only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any
other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
NOTICE: The charger may become warm after several continuous charging
cycles. This is normal. Use the charger in a well ventilated area.
- Connect the plug (D) to a suitable receptacle. The defect indicator (B) and the charging indicator (C) flash once. The charger is ready for charging.
- Align the raised ribs of the battery pack with the battery slot of the charger then slide the charger onto the battery pack (Fig. 1 ).
- The charger automatically checks the condition of the battery pack. If the battery pack is within the charging temperature range, the charging indicator (C) flashes green. The battery pack is being charged.
- The battery pack is full when the charging indicator (C) stays on green.
- To detach the charger, press the battery release button and slide the charger off from the battery pack (Fig. 2).
- Unplug the charger from the receptacle when not in use.
NOTICE: If the battery pack cannot be charged, the contacts of the charger or battery pack may be contaminated. Clean the contacts of the charger or battery pack by inserting and removing the battery several times or by cleaning with a cotton swab and alcohol.

Cleaning and Maintenance
NOTICE: Unplug the charger before cleaning. During cleaning do not immerse the charger in water or other liquids. Never hold the charger under running water.
Cleaning the housing
- To clean the charger, wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
- Wipe the charger dry after cleaning.
- Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, abrasive scourers, metal or sharp utensils to clean the charger.
NOTICE: The charger may be cleaned most effectively with compressed dry
air. When doing so, do not exceed the pressure of 43 PSI (3 bar) and always
wear safety goggles.
NOTICE: Certain cleaning agents and solvents damage plastic parts. Some
of these are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated cleaning solvents,
ammonia and household detergents that contain ammonia. Do not use cleaning
agents and solvents containing these, as they can damage the charger.
Storage
- Detach the battery pack from the charger before storage.
- Store the charger In its original packaging in a dry area. Keep away from children and pets.
Transport
- Detach the battery pack from the charger before transportation.
- Make sure the charger is strapped in firmly during transit.
- Avoid vibrations and shocks.
