DAY 72400 Panini Grill - Cover PANINI GRILL

Introduction

To get the most out of your new panini grill, please read through these instructions before use. Please also save the instructions in case you need to refer to them at a later date.

Special safety instructions

Read this manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
The appliance may be used by children over 8 years old and people with reduced sensitivity, or a physical or mental disability, as long as they are supervised or have been instructed in use of the appliance in a safe manner and thus understand the associated risks.

Children must not play with the appliance.
Children may only clean or maintain the appliance if they are over 8 years and under supervision.
Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children younger than 8 years old.
Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
The panini grill is only intended for use in private households.
The panini grill is only designed for making hot sandwiches. Do not attempt to heat or cook other foodstuff s in the panini grill.
If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualitied repairman to avoid hazards.
Do not connect the appliance using an on/off timer or other equipment that can automatically switch on the appliance.
The surfaces of the appliance get very hot when in use.
The panini grill must not be covered when in use, as this may cause are.
Before you connect the appliance, check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage specified on the rating plate located underneath the appliance.
Connect the appliance to an earthed socket.

Position the appliance so that

  • the cord does not overhang the edge of the work surface or a sink, and
  • it is standing on a flat surface with sufficient clearance on all sides.

The cord must not be close to or in contact with the hot surfaces of the appliance.
Always allow the hotplates to heat up before you start preparing food.
Unplug the appliance after use.

Do not touch the metal parts of the appliance, as they can get very hot.
Do not use sharp or abrasive utensils on the hotplates as this may damage the non-stick coating.
Always clean the appliance after use.
Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down before cleaning it. Never immerse the appliance in water. Water must not be allowed to get into the appliance.

Before use

Wipe the hotplates with a well-wrung cloth or sponge.
Lubricate the hotplates with a thin layer of cooking oil or butter.
Plug the appliance in. Allow the panini grill to heat up. The panini grill is now ready for use.

Note: When used for the first time, the panini grill may give off a slight odour or smoke. This is normal and will pass after the appliance has warmed up for a short time.

Use

Close the panini grill.
Plug the appliance in.
The indicator light (3) comes on to show that the panini grill is on and is heating up.
Once the hotplates (2, 5) reach the preset temperature, the other indicator light comes on.

Open the panini grill.
Prepare two sandwiches by buttering four slices of sandwich bread. Place two slices of bread on the hotplate with the buttered side facing down.
Place the filling on the slices of bread and place the other slices of bread on top with the buttered side facing upwards.

The panini grill can be opened 180 degrees and used as a table grill. To open the lid 180 degrees, push back the small button on the side (see picture).

Lower the top hotplate down onto the sandwiches. Close the hotplates together using the handle (1) and lock it securely with the lock (4).
Note! If the sandwiches are so thick that the handle cannot easily be locked together, you must not force the hotplates together.
The thermostat will then go on and off to keep the panini grill at the set temperature.
The indicator light is lit when the panini grill is warming up.
Allow the sandwiches to toast for 3-5 minutes and then check them to ensure they are not burning.
Once the sandwiches have acquired the desired colour, remove them from the hotplates with a utensil made of wood or soft plastic.
Do not use metal utensils, as they can damage the non-stick coating on the hotplates.

Cleaning and maintenance

Unplug the panini grill and allow it to cool before cleaning.
Never submerge the panini grill in water. All external and internal surfaces can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Soften any food residues stuck to the hotplates using a little cooking oil, and then scrape them off using a utensil made of wood or soft plastic.
Do not use sharp or abrasive objects when cleaning the panini grill.
