Product Information

The product is an idropulitrice (pressure washer) model Benz-C, available in several variations: H 1809P, H 1811P, H 2515P, L 2216P, L 2021P, H DL2515P, L DL2217P, L DL2021P. It is designed for various uses and comes with different features depending on the model.

Product Usage Instructions

Preparation:

INTENDED USE

The idropulitrice is designed for various uses and should be used according to the intended purpose as specified in the user manual. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided.

This appliance is intended exclusively for cleaning machines, vehicles, buildings and general surfaces suitable for treatment with a high pressure jet of detergent solution between 25 and 280 bar (360 – 4000 PSI).

Warning

  • This appliance has been designed for use with the detergents supplied or recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other detergents or chemicals may influence the safety of the appliance.
  • This appliance must be used only for the purpose for which it was specifically designed.
  • All other uses are to be considered incorrect and therefore unreasonable.

Examples of unreasonable use:

  • Washing surfaces not suitable for cleaning with a high pre-sure jet.
  • Washing people, animals, electric equipment or the machine itself.
  • Using unsuitable detergents or chemicals.
  • Blocking the trigger (lever) of the lance in delivery position.
  • Using accessories not recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Using the cleaner in enclosed spaces without exhaust pipes to evacuate harmful gases to the outside.

The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage due to improper, incorrect or unreasonable use. As far as safety rules are concerned, the cleaners are manufactured according to the European Standard.

INTRODUCTION

  • Warning

    • This manual must be read before installing, setting up and using the cleaner. The manual is an integral part of the product. Read the warnings and instructions in this manual carefully as they provide important indications as to SAFETY IN USE and MAINTENANCE, paying special attention to the general rules for safety.
    • The explosion engine is covered in a separate instruction manual supplied by the manufacture. Read the warnings and instructions contained in this manual carefully.
    • KEEP THIS MANUAL CAREFULLY FOR FUTURE CONSUL-TATION.
    • The contents of this booklet must be brought to the attention of persons using or carrying out routine maintenance on this water cleaner. The user must observe the conditions of use of the appliance prescribed by the Rules.
    • The H.P. cleaner is factory set and all its safety devices are sealed. It is forbidden to alter their adjustment values.
    • The explosion engine water cleaner runs on PETROL. Always use fresh clean lead-free petrol. Never use petrol left over from the previous season or which has been stored for a long time. Lead-free petrol must never be kept for long periods.
    • The H.P. cleaner must be always used on a firm and flat ground, furthermore it must not be moved while it is working.
    • The water cleaner is considered as a fixed device.
    • Failure to observe this prescription may cause danger for the user.
    • The H.P. cleaner must not be used in the presence of corrosive or potentially explosive atmospheres. (vapours or gas)
    • Incorrect use of the water cleaner may result in damage to people, animals or things. In this event, the manufacturer declines all liability.
  • GENERAL SAFETY RULES FOR THE USE OF HIGH PRESSURE CLEANERS

    • The appliance must be attended during operation. If the water cleaner is left, even  temporarily, turn it off.
    • The high pressure washer is not intended for use by children, adolescents or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, under the influence of alcohol or lacking experience and knowledge. Operators must be made aware of the instructions for using the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the high pressure washer.
    • Use only original accessories that can allow safe working of the appliance.
    • The flexible hose connecting the lance to the H.P. cleaner must not be damaged. In case of damage, replace it immediately.
    • Hoses, connections and fittings for high pressure systems are very important to guarantee the safety of the H.P. cleaner. Use only original spare parts which have the manufacturer’s approval.
    • Do not use the H.P. cleaner when persons or animals are in its field of action.
    • High pressure jets may be dangerous if not properly used.
    • The jet must never be directed at persons or animals, electric appliances or at the appliance itself.
  • The high pressure water jet causes a re-action power on the lance. Hold the lance grip vigorously.
    The use of the H.P. cleaner must be consi-dered according to the kind of washing which must be performed.

  • Protect yourself against the ejection of solid materials or corrosive substances by means of adequate protective clothing. (Gloves, goggles, etc.)

  • The use of the H.P. cleaner must be con-sidered according to the place where the washing is performed (for example: food plants, pharmaceutical plants, etc.) Pertinent rules and safety conditions must be followed.

  • This appliance has been designed for use with the detergents supplied or recommen-ded by the manufacturer. The use of other detergents or chemicals may influence the safety of the appliance.

  • During use of H.P. cleaner, aerosols may be formed. Inhalation of aerosols can be hazardous to health.

  • Explosion hazard. Do not spray flamma-ble liquids.

  • The employer shall perform a risk asses-sment in order to specify the necessary protective measures regarding aerosols, depending on the surface to be cleaned and its environment. Respiratory masks of class FFP 2, an equivalent or higher are suitable for the protection against hydrous aerosols.

  • Do not direct water jets at your own or other people’s body in order to clean clothes or shoes.

  • While working it is forbidden, to stop the trig-ger (lever) of the lance in delivery position.

  • Before starting any cleaning or maintenan-ce operation, disconnect the machine from the water supply networks.

  • Periodically, at least once a year, have the safety devices checked by one of our service centres.

  • Never obstruct the ventilation or heat dispersion openings or slits or the exhaust pipe.

  • Never touch the exhaust with the hands. Danger of burns.

  • The exhaust emissions from an explosion engine contain harmful gases. The water cleaner must never be used in a enclosed space.

  • If the appliance is to be used in an enclosed space, fit an exhaust pipe to evacuate the gases to the outside.

  • In case of damage or malfunction, switch off the appliance (disconnecting it from the water main).

  • At least once a year, have the safety of the water cleaner checked by our technical service centre.

  • In case of accident, contact a doctor or the emergency room. frees the manufacturer from all respon-sibility and constitutes negligent use of the product.

PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

  • UNPACKING
    • After unpacking, ensure that the cleaner is undamaged.
    • If in doubt, do not use the machine. Contact your dealer.
    • Packaging (bags, boxes, nails, etc) is potentially dangerous and should be kept out of reach of children. It should be disposed of or retained in respect of national environmental legislation.
  • FITTING THE SEPARATE PARTS OF THE MACHINE
    • All the fundamental parts and safety devices of the machine are assembled by the manufacturer.
    • For reasons of packing and transport, some secondary cleaner parts are supplied separately.
    • The user must fit these parts as explained in the instructions supplied in each assembly kit.
  • DATA PLATE:
    The data plate bearing the main technical characteristics of your cleaner is located on the trolley and is always visible (fig. 1).

Warning

When buying your cleaner, ensure that it has an identifica-tion plate. If there is no plate, inform the manufacturer and/or the dealer immediately. Machines without a plate must not be used and the manufacturer declines all responsibi-lity for them. Products without a plate must be considered anonymous and potentially dangerous.

FILLING THE DETERGENT TANK

Warning

  • From the range of recommended products, choose the one most suited to the washing job to be done (fig. 2) and dilute it with water according to the instructions on the pack.
  • Fill the detergent tank with the diluted product .

Ask your dealer for the catalogue of the detergents that can be used depending on the type of washing job to be done and the type of surface to be treated.
After using a detergent, the detergent intake circuit must be flushed out with clean water.

FILLING UP WITH FUEL.
Fill the tank with petrol (fig. 3) (use fresh clean lead-free petrol) with the engine cold. Use a clean funnel.

Danger

  • Be careful not to spill petrol while filling the tank. In the event of spills, mop up with an absorbent cloth and make sure the spill is completely dry before starting up the engine.
  • While filling the tank, do not smoke, light matches or cause sparks. Danger of fire or explosion.
  • Do not overfill the tank (there should be no petrol in the filling neck).
  • After filling, make sure the cap is firmly in place.
  • Petrol is highly inflammable and explosive. Take great care when filling.
  • For further information, read the instruction manual supplied with the engine.
  • Never use types of fuel other than that indicated on the identification plate.
  • Never fill the tank with petrol while the engine is running.
  • Keep petrol containers in a special place out of the reach of children.
  • Before starting the engine, check the oil level. Top up if the level is low. Always check the oil level before using the cleaner.
  • Use high quality clean SAE 10W-30 general purpose detergent oil, class API-SF or SG.

For more detailed information, consult the instruction manual supplied with the engine.

COMMAND AND CONTROL DEVICES

Warning

Before connecting the machine to the water supply, it is es-sential to know the function of the cleaner’s command and control devices.

WATER CIRCUIT CONNECTION

  • Connect the feed hose to the mains (fig. 4A) and to the hosetail on the cleaner (fig. 4B).
  • Check that the pressure and quantity of the water supplied by the mains are sufficient for the cleaner to work properly: 2 to 8 BAR (29 to 116 PSI). Maximum temperature of fee-ding water 50°C (122°F).
  • Connect the high pressure hose to the cleaner (fig. 4C) and to the lance (fig. 5).

Danger

  • The cleaner must operate with clean water. Dirty or sandy water, corrosive che-micals and solvents can cause severe damage to the cleaner.
  • Never suck up liquids contai-ning solvents or acids in the pure state, for example petrol, paint solvents or diesel. The spray mist from the lance is highly inflammable, explosive and poisonous.
  • Failure to respect the above absolves the manufacturer of all liability and represents negligent use of the product.

Information
Respect the instructions provided by the water utility company.

  • Current regulations specify that the appliance may not be con-nected to the drinking water supply unless a suitable system separator is fitted.
  • Use a suitable EN 12729 type BA system separator.
  • Water passing through a system separator is no longer classi-fied as drinking water.
  • Warning Do not connect the machine to a drinking water container.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

Wear safety shoes with non-slip soles.
Wear protective goggles or visor and safety garments.

You are recommended to wear overalls to reduce the risk of injury caused by involuntary contact with the high pressure jet.
Depending on the surface being cleaned and the environment, the protective measures necessary for pulverised mists may include respiratory masks with class FFP2 or equivalent or higher protection.

USING THE CLEANER

STARTING THE CLEANER
Turn on the water supply tap (fig. 4A).

  1. Place the petrol tap lever in the open ON position (fig. 6A).
  2. Place the starting lever in the starter position (fig. 6B). If the engine is hot, this step is not required.
  3. Place the engine switch in the ON position (fig. 7).
  4. Start up the engine by pulling the automatic take-up chord (fig. 8).
  5. Once the engine is running, bring the starting lever (fig. 6B) back to the original position.

Warning

  • If there is not enough oil or none at all, the engine does not start.
  • The high pressure water jet generates a reaction force in the lance. Keep a firm grip on the lance handle.
  • Press the trigger on the gun and begin washing.

Danger – Do not block the handle lever in the delivery position.

IMPORTANT!

  • To eliminate any impurities or air bubbles from the wa-ter circuit we advise starting the cleaner for the first time without the lance and letting the water run out for a few seconds.
  • Impurities could block the nozzle and cause malfun-ction (Fig. 9).

STOPPING THE CLEANER

  1. After using with detergent, flush out the intake circuit; place the detergent suction hose (fig. 10) in a tank of clean water and let the pump run for 1 minute with the dosing tap turned fully on and the lance in detergent delivery condition.
  2. Stop the cleaner.
    • Place the engine switch in the OFF position. (fig. 7).
    • Place the petrol pump lever in the closed OFF position (fig. 6A).
  3. Discharge the pressure from the H.P. hose by pressing the trigger on the gun (fig. 5A).
  4. Turn off the water supply tap (fig. 4A).

Warning

  • If the water cleaner is left, even temporarily, turn it off.
  • When the water cleaner is not used, close the safety device on the handle (fig. 11).
  • Dry use of the water cleaner causes serious damage to pump gaskets.

USING THE ADJUSTABLE HEAD (Fig. 12)

  • The adjustable head enables you to select a low or high pressure jet. The pressure is selected by rotating the head.
  • High pressure pos. A.
  • Low pressure pos. B.

USE OF THE DOUBLE LAN-CE (fig. 13)
The double lance allows the operator to select a low or high pressure jet. The pressure is selected with the gun in pos. 1. High pressure: pos. 2. Low pressure and detergent intake: pos. 3.

ATTACHING THE DETER-GENT INTAKE KIT (fig. 14)
To suck up the detergent so-lution, fit the kit supplied onto the water output of the high pressure washer.

ADVICE ON USING DETERGENTS

Warning

This cleaner has been designed for use with the detergents supplied or recommended by the manufacturer. The use of other detergents or chemicals may influence the safety of the cleaner.

  • For environmental compatibility, we recommend a reaso-nable use of detergents, according to the instructions on the pack.
  • From the range of recommended products, choose the one most suited to the washing job to be done and dilute it with water according to the instructions on the pack or in the catalogue of the detergents most suited for the type of hot or cold water cleaner.
  • Ask your dealer for the detergents catalogue.

OPERATING PHASES FOR CORRECT CLEANING WITH DETERGENTS

  1. Prepare the solution of detergent at the concentration most suitable for the type of dirt and the surface that is to be washed.

  2. Start the cleaner, turn on the detergent tap (if present), switch on the detergent suction control on the lance (fig. 12) and spray the dirty surface with the diluted product, working from bottom to top.
    Let it react for a few minutes.

  3. Rinse the whole surface well from top to bottom at high pressure.

  4. After using with detergent, flush out the intake circuit; place the detergent suction hose (fig. 10) in a tank of clean water and let the pump run for 1 minute with the dosing tap turned fully on and the lance in detergent delivery condition.

MAINTENANCE

ONLY THE OPERATIONS AUTHORIZED IN THIS IN-STRUCTIONS MANUAL MAY BE CARRIED OUT BY THE USER.
ALL OTHER OPERATIONS ARE FORBIDDEN.

Danger

  • For maintenance of the high pressure pump, the electrical parts and all parts with a safety function, you must apply to our technical service centre.
  • The manufacturer is not liable in case of tampering, changes, in-correct repairs or maintenance carried out on the machine by a third person not provided with the manufacturer’s authorization.
  • Periodically, at least once a year, have the safety devices and the rated values checked at one of our technical service centres.
  • Disconnect the machine from the water supply before carrying out any maintenance jobs.
  • Once maintenance has been completed, ensure that the closing panels have been correctly reassembled and anchored with the screws provided before reconnecting the cleaner to the mains.

Warning Never tip the water cleaner over onto the carburettor side.

PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FROST

  • The cleaner must not be exposed to frost.
  • If the cleaner is left in premises where it is exposed to frost, when work is over or for storage, antifreeze must be used to prevent serious damage to the hydraulic circuit.

OPERATIONS FOR USING ANTIFREEZE (fig. 15)

  1. Turn off the water supply (tap), disconnect the hose and run the cleaner until it is completely empty.
  2. Stop the water cleaner.
  3. Prepare a container with the solution of antifreeze.
  4. Immerse the tube in the container with the anti-freeze solution.
  5. Start the water cleaner.
  6. Start the cleaner and let it run until antifreeze comes out through the lance.
  7. Suck up antifreeze with the detergent intake system too.
  8. Stop the water cleaner.

Warning Anti-freeze may cause environmental pollution. Always follow the instructions given on the pack. (Dispose of carefully.)

CHECKING AND CHAN-GING THE PUMP AND GEARBOX OIL.

Check the level of oil in the high pressure pump and gearbox by means of the sight glass or dipstick (fig. 16B). If the oil has a milky appearan-ce, call the technical service centre immediately. Change the oil after the first 50 hours’ work and subse-quently every 500 hours or once a year.
Proceed as follows:

  1. Unscrew the drain cap situated under the pump (fig. 16C).
  2. Unscrew the cap with the dipstick (fig. 16).
  3. Let all the oil drain off into a container and deliver it to an authorized oil collection and disposal centre.
  4. Replace the drain screw and pour fresh oil in through the filling cap on top (fig. 17A) until it reaches the level indicated on the sight glass (fig. 17B).

Use only SAE 15 W40 oil for the H.P. pump and SAE 80 W90 for the gearbox.

CLEANING THE WATER FILTER
Clean the water intake filter regularly and free it from any impurities (fig. 18).

CHECKING OIL LEVEL AND OIL CHANGE
Before starting up, always check the level of oil in the explosion engine by removing the cap with the dip stick (fig. 19).
To avoid damaging the engine, run it only:

  • if the level of oil is between the “Min” and “Max” marks on the oil dip stick;
  • if the oil cap has first been locked onto the oil pipe.

Warning
Never fill with oil to above the “Max” mark on the dip stick.

Changing the oil:
Change the oil after the first two hours of operation and then after every 25 hours or more often if the engine has been running in especially harmful conditions or in particularly dusty atmospheres.

Warning

  • Use high quality clean SAE 10W-30 general purpose detergent oil, class API-SF or SG.
  • For more detailed information, consult the instruction manual supplied with the engine.
  • Disconnect the high voltage spark plug cable before changing the engine oil.

For instructions on how to change the oil, consult the instruction manual supplied with the engine.

Warning Spent oil must be disposed of in an authorised collection centre.

AIR FILTER

  • Check the state of the filter cartridge after every 10 hours of operation. Replace the filter element after every 50 hours of operation or more frequently if necessary.
  • For instructions on how to check and replace the air filter, consult the instruction manual supplied with the engine.

SPARK PLUG

  • Check the state of the spark plug each year or after every 100 hours of operation. Replace the spark plug if the electrodes are pitted or burnt or if the porcelain is damaged. The spark plug should always be replaced after 300 hours of operation.
  • For instructions on how to check and replace the spark plug, consult the instruction manual supplied with the engine.

TABLE OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO BE PERFORMED BY THE USER

Description of operations:

  • Check high pressure connectors: Each use
  • Ist oil change in H.P. pump/ gearbox: After 50 hours
  • Subsequent changes in H.P. pump/ gearbox: Every 500 hours
  • Clean water filter: Every 50 hours
  • Check oil level: every time the cleaner is used
  • First oil change after two hours
  • Subsequent oil changes every 25 hours or more frequently if the cleaner is used in harmful conditions
  • Check the air filter every 10 hours
  • Replace the filter element every 50 hours
  • Check the spark plug every 100 hours
  • Replace spark plug every 300 hours

CHANGING THE HIGH PRESSURE NOZZLE

The high pressure nozzle fitted on the lance must be changed from time to time, as this component is subject to normal wear during use. Wear may generally be detected by a drop in the working pressure of the cleaner. To replace it, consult your supplier and/or dealer for instructions.
TABLE OF EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE TO BE PERFORMED BY THE TECHNICAL SERVICE CENTRE

Description of operations:

  • Change seals on H.P. pump: Every 100 hours
  • Change lanze nozzle: Every 150 hours
  • Calibrate and check the safety devices: Once a year

IMPORTANT:
These intervals refer to normal working conditions. For heavy duty use decrease the interval for each job.
For maintenance and/or repairs, use only original spare parts which offer the greatest characteristics of quality and reliability. Failure to use original spare parts absolves the manufacturer from all liability and transfers it to the person carrying out the operation.

PERIODS OF INACTIVITY

  • If the machine is to remain inactive for a long period, disconnect the supply sources, drain the tank(s) of all the operating fluids and protect any parts that could be damaged by the accumulation of dust.
  • Grease the parts that could be damaged by drying out, such as the supply hoses. When bringing back into use, ensure that there are no cracks or cuts in the water supply hoses.
  • Oil and chemical products must be disposed of according to current legislation.
