- The term “power tool” refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.
Workplace
- Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and poorly lit work areas can lead to accidents.
- Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
- Keep children and onlookers at a safe distance when using the power tool. You can easily lose control of the tool if you are distracted.
Personal safety
-
Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
-
Do not expose power tools to rain or moisture. There is an increased risk of electric shock if water gets into a power tool.
-
Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when working with a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
-
Use personal safety equipment. Always wear safety glasses. If you use personal safety equipment such as safety gloves, dust filter mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet or ear protection
(depending on how the power tool is used), this will reduce the risk of personal injury. -
Avoid accidental starting. Make sure the power tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or battery, or before lifting it up or carrying it. If you keep your finger on the power switch when carrying the power tool, or plug it into a power point when it is switched on, this can result in an accident.
-
Always check that Allan keys/spanners etc. have been removed from the power tool before switching it on. A tool or key left in a rotating machine part can result in personal injury.
-
Do not overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. It will then be easier to control the power tool in unexpected situations.
-
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts.

Never use the power tool if the safety devices are damaged or missing.
-
Keep the work area free from loose stones, metal, pieces of wood and other hard objects.
-
Make sure the brush is not touching stones or debris before starting the power tool.
-
Keep your hands and feet away from the rotating parts, especially when starting the motor.
-
Never use spare parts or accessories that are not recommended by the manufacturer. Always make sure that the ventilation openings are free from debris. Avoid accidental starting by never carrying the power tool with your finger on the power switch.

Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned job. With the correct power tool you will work better and more safely within the specified performance range.
-
Do not use the tool if it cannot be started and stopped with the power switch.
A power tool that cannot be switched on or off with the power switch is dangerous and must be repaired. -
Unplug the power cord and/or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. This precaution prevents accidently starting the power tool.
-
Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
-
Keep the power tool properly maintained. Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam, and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
-
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp blades jam less often and are easier to control.
-
Use the power tool, accessories, etc. in accordance with these instructions. Pay attention to the actual working conditions and the job to be done. Using power tools for purposes they are not intended to be used for can result in dangerous situations.
