OPERATION
Intended Use
- The Flip-Up helmet is designed to protect the eyes and face from sparks, splashes, and alternative radiation under normal welding conditions. The auto-darkening filter changes from a light to a dark state when an arc is struck.
- Intended use also includes compliance with the instructions.
- Any use going beyond this (other media, use of force) or unauthorized changes (conversion, no original accessories) can trigger the determination of the hazard and is considered improper.
Before using for the first time
Take the welding helmet out of the packaging. Dispose of the packaging
material. Plastic bags etc. can be dangerous for children. Remove the
protective film from the internal (4) and the external (2) lens. Before you
start welding, first adjust the head band according to your needs.
Adjust the head band
- Use the adjustment wheel (7) on the back of the head band to adjust the headband length. To expand and contract the headgear, simultaneously press and turn the adjustment wheel (7) counterclockwise and clockwise. Wear the helmet while adjusting. The headband should not be too tight.
- Open the head band (10) and adjust the length of the upper head strap.
- Adjust the swivel stop using the locking pin (11). To do this, loosen the adjusting screws (9) slightly and insert the locking pins (11) parallel into the appropriate opening. Then tighten the adjusting screws (9) again.
- For longitudinal adjustment, loosen the adjusting screws (9) almost completely. Slide the headgear forward or backward. Then tighten the adjusting screws (9) again.
- Test the fit of the helmet by raising and lowering the face shield (1). The helmet should fit comfortably and it should not rock back and forth during the rise and fall.
Blackout table
The welding helmet has the blackout level 11. Look in the table, use the
blackout level 11 as a guide and read off the arc current that is suitable for
your desired welding process.
Operation of the Flip-Up Visor(5)
Fold the flip-up (5) up and down on both side wings. Always keep the flap
closed when welding. Otherwise there is a risk of injury to your eyes.
Replacing the viewing panes
Make sure that all panes are always clean. Replace the lenses immediately if they are cracked or scratched.
Attention:
- Only clean the welding helmet with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use any aggressive cleaning substances.
- Do not immerse the welding helmet in liquids.
- Clean the headband at regular intervals.
- Store the welding helmet in a dark place protected from dust, dirt and moisture. Do not expose the welding helmet to direct sunlight.
- Front screen (2): put your finger or a blunt object in the recess and carefully lever the windshield out of the holders. Sieve the new disk into the mounts until it snaps into place.
- Dark pane (3): fold out the flip-up Visor (5). Turn the helmet over so you’re looking at the inside of the flip-up compartment. Unlock the metal retaining bracket (6) (recess: press and tilt upwards at the same time). Push the 4 retaining lugs (2 on each side) to the side and take out the pane.
- Click the new pane into the 4 retaining lugs and press the metal retaining bracket down again.
- Inner cover panel (4): carefully press against the panel from the inside with your hand. Carefully pull the pane downwards out of the retaining clips, as with the front pane (2). Slide the new disc into the brackets until it clicks into place.
Washing the sweatband (8)
Carefully detach the sweatband (8) from the retaining lugs. Fasten the washed
sweatband (8) carefully and horizontally in the retaining lugs using the holes
provided. Flip it over and fasten the other side in the same way. Wash the
sweatband (8) under lukewarm water and let it dry thoroughly.
