GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING Read all safety warnings , instructions, illustrations and speci-
fications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions
listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or seri-ous injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for fu-ture reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded)
power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
-
WORK AREA SAFETY
- a ) Keep work area clean and well lit. Clut-tered or dark areas invite accidents.
- b ) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- c ) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
-
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
- a ) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
- b ) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, ra-diators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- c ) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
- Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for out-door use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
- If operating a power tool in a damp loca-tion is unavoidable, use a residual cur-rent device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
-
PERSONAL SAFETY
- a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influ-ence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
- b) Use personal protective equipment. Al-ways wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protec-tion used for appropriate conditions will re-duce personal injuries.
- c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or bat-tery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
- d ) Remove any adjusting key or wrench be-fore turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
- e ) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpect-ed situations.
- f ) Dress properly. Do not wear loose cloth-ing or jewellery. Keep your hair, cloth-ing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- g ) If devices are provided for the connec-tion of dust extraction and collection fa-cilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
- h) Do not let familiarity gained from fre- quent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety prin-ciples. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
-
POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
-
Do not force the power tool. Use the cor-rect power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
-
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
-
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing ac-cessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
-
d ) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e ) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f ) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. -
g ) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for op-erations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
-
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slip-pery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
-
-
SERVICE
- a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
MACHINE SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS FOR MULTI TOOLS
- a) Use the machine only for dry sanding/sawing/cutting. Penetration of water into the machine increases the risk of an electric shock.
- b) Pay attention that no persons are put at risk through sparking. Remove any com-bustible materials in the vicinity. Spark-ing occurs when sanding metal materials.
- c ) Caution, fire hazard! Avoid overheating the object being sanded as well as the sander.
- d ) Always empty the dust collection sys-tem before taking breaks. In unfavorable conditions, e.g., when sparks emit from sanding metals, sanding debris in the dust box, micro filter or paper sack (or in the fil-ter sack or filter of the vacuum cleaner) can self-ignite. Particularly when mixed with re-mainders of varnish, polyurethane or other chemical materials and when the sanding debris is hot after long periods of working.
- e) When working with the machine, always hold it firmly with both hands and pro-vide for a secure stance. The power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
- f ) Secure the work piece. A work piece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
- g ) Keep your workplace clean. Blends of materials are particularly dangerous. Dust from light alloys can burn or explode.
- h) Never use the machine with a damaged cable. Do not touch the damaged cable and pull the mains plug when the cable is damaged while working. Damaged cables increase the risk of an electric shock.
- i ) Wear protective gloves when replacing a tool in the device. Tools heat up with pro-longed use.
- j) Keep your hands away from the area of the saw blade. Do not grip the underside of the workpiece. Contact with the saw blade may result in injury.
- k) Use a suitable detector to locate con-cealed services supply cables / pipes or approach your local public utilities services providers. Contact with electric-ity cables can lead to fire or electric shock. Damaging a gas pipe can lead to an explo-sion. Penetration of a water pipe can lead to property damage or to electric shock.
- l) If you use the device outdoors, always connect it through a residual current device (RCD) with a maximum trip cur-rent of 30 mA. If using an extension lead, always use one that is approved for outdoor use.
- m) Do not touch and/or inhale harmful/toxic dust generated during work. All persons in the vicinity of the work area must wear appropriate personal protec-tive equipment for protection against harmful/toxic dusts. Use the dust extrac-tion facility and keep the work area well ventilated.
- n) Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may con-tact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cut-ting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
- o) Ensure that there is adequate ventilation when working on plastic, paint, varnish etc
- p) Do not soak the materials or the surface you are about to work on with liquids containing solvents.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERY
- Never use a damaged battery.
- Do not open the battery. There is a risk of a short-circuit.
- Protect the battery from heat, e.g. from continuous exposure to sun-light, fire, water and humidity. There is a risk of explosion.
- In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respira-tory system.
- Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact acciden-tally occurs, flush with water. If liq-uid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Use only original batteries with the voltage indicated on the rating plate of your electric power tool. If other batteries are used, e.g. imitations, reconditioned batteries or third-party products, there is a risk of injuries as well as damage caused by exploding batteries.
- The battery voltage must match the battery charging voltage of the bat-tery charger. Otherwise there is a risk of fire and explosion.
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Pointed objects, such as nails or screwdrivers, or external forces may damage the battery. This may cause an internal short-circuit and the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.
- When not in use, keep the battery away from paper-clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects, that can cause a short-cir-cuit at the charging contacts.
- Used batteries must be disposed of safely and correctly.
