StarTech PEX2S953 2 Port PCI Express RS232 Serial Adapter Card Installation Guide

Installation

Download the Driver

1. Navigate to www.startech.com/PEX2S953

2. Click the Drivers & Downloads tab.

3. Under Driver(s), download the Driver Package for your operating system.
   Note : Windows usually saves the files to the Downloads folder associated with the user account (e.g. C:\Users\useraccount\Downloads).

4. Right-click the zipped Driver Package that was downloaded. Click Extract All. Follow the on-screen instructions to Extract the files.

Note : Ensure to make a note of the location where the drivers were extracted. That location will be used in later steps.

Install the Driver

INF Installation

1. Press the Windows + R keys on the keyboard. On the new window, type devmgmt.msc. Press Enter to open the Device Manager.

2. At the Device Manager window, look for Multifunction Device. It will have a ! or ? Sign beside it indicating a Device Driver issue.

3. Right-click Multifunction Device. Click Update Driver.

4. At the window, How do you want to search for drivers. Click Browse my computer for drivers.

5. At the window, Browse for drivers on your computer. Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

6. At the window, Select your device’s type from the list below. Click the Show All Devices option at the Top of the list to select it. Click Next.
   Note : The “Select your device’s type from the list below” window does not appear on all systems. If you do not see this window, skip this step.

7. At the window, Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. Click Have Disk.

8. At the window, Install From Disk. Click Browse to open the Windows File Explorer. Browse to the folder created in Step 4 in the Download the Driver section.

9. Open the corresponding folder to the Windows Version. Open the 32-bit or 64-bit folder, depending on the system type. Click the AX99100_Ports file to select it. Click Open.
   b: To view the system type, e.g. 32-bit or 64-bit, press the Windows + R keys on the keyboard. At the new window, type control /name microsoft.system and press Enter. The new window displays the system type.Windows 11 is 64-bit only.

10. Click OK.

11. Click Next.

12.  At the window, Select the device driver you wan to install for this hardware. Click AX99100 PCIe to High Speed Serial Port. Click Next.
    Note: If the Update Driver Warning window appears, click Yes to continue installing the Device Driver.

13. Repeat Steps 2 to 12 for any remaining Multifunction Device with a ! or ? Sign beside it.

EXE Installation

1. Browse to the folder created on Step 4 in the Download the Driver section.
2. Open the corresponding folder to the Windows Version. Open the 32-bit or 64-bit folder, depending on the system type.
   Note : To view the system type, e.g. 32-bit or 64-bit, press the Windows

• R keys on the keyboard. At the new window, type control /name microsoft.system and press Enter. The new window displays the system type. Windows 11 is 64-bit only.

  3. Right-click the AX99100_Setup file. Click Run as administrator.
     Note : If the Run as administrator option is not available, you could be attempting to run the EXE installer from within the zipped Driver Package. Extract the files using the instructions in Step 4 in the Download the Driver section.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Device Driver. Restart the computer if prompted
