VALARIS
Quick Start-Up Guide

PLANNING FOR ACCESS AND VENTILATION

  • Place your Chilly GOAT Valaris in its final position, allowing for access to the equipment and components. Master Spas recommends that there be at least 3 feet of space around all sides of the Chilly GOAT. In addition, there should be 6 feet of open space on the chiller side. This provides adequate space for ventilation, regular maintenance, and service.Master-Spas-LLC-Valaris-Glacier-Cold-Tub-fig- \(1\)
  • Move your Chilly GOAT into place and wait 24 hours before beginning the start-up process.

ACCESSING EQUIPMENT

  • Remove the equipment access panel. You can remove the panel by lifting it vertically until it stops. Then, carefully pull the bottom of the panel outward, at an angle to unhook it from the channel. Although one person can do so, it is convenient to have help when removing the longer side panels.
  • With the equipment access panel removed, check that all pump and heater unions are secure. The therapy pump, heater, and chiller each have two unions. The unions might become loose during transportation. Also, check that all slice valves are open in the up position. The slice valves might be closed during the transportation of the Chilly GOAT.

CONNECT DRAIN LINE

It is normal for there to be condensation. To protect your Valaris, you need to connect the manufacturer installed condensation line. The condensation drain can be found below the skirting panel that runs the length of the cold tub. Attach the provided clear 3/8” ID hose to coupler and route the drain line away from the unit.

FILLING YOUR VALARIS
Attach a pre-filter to your garden hose and fill each side of the Valaris to the minimum safe water level. Be sure to remove the filter housing and filters
before starting the filling process. This can help prime the pumps.Master-

COLD TUB SECTION START-UP

Turn on power to your Chilly GOAT at the breaker. The circulation pump on the cold tub side should start up immediately. If you hear the pump running but there is no water flow circulating, turn off power to the cold tub and turn it back on. If the pump is not primed after restarting, turn off power and refer to the owner’s manual Initial Chilly GOAT Set-Up, step #8, for further directions.

HOT TUB SECTION START-UP

  • Once you have confirmed that the cold tub pump is primed, turn off power at the breaker and back on. Now check to make sure that the hot tub pumps are primed and producing water flow.
  • Once the topside control panel of the hot tub displays priming mode or “run pumps purge air”, activate the jets button to confirm that there is not an air lock in the therapy pump.
  • During this first 5 minutes of power up, the light button can be used  to engage the circulation pump and confirm the pump is primed. You can check the flow of water from the circulation pump by putting your hand in front of the circulation pump discharge.
  • Most of the jets in the hot tub are adjustable and removable by turning the face of the jet. Check that the adjustable jets of the hot tub are open by turning the face of the jets counterclockwise.

SETTING UP THE CHILLER

  • Confirm the chiller is on, if not press the power button for 3 seconds. Then wait 10 minutes to adjust the temperature. This 10-minute window was designed to give you time to connect to the app in Step 9.
  • To change the temperature, press the up or down buttons accordingly. You can press the “M” button to switch between the heating and cooling modes.

TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT

  • It’s exciting and tough to wait, but give your cold tub a couple hours between water temperature checks. The cooling or heating capabilities will vary depending on the ambient temperature conditions, ventilation air flow and the current water temperature. Your cold tub will need some time to cool. Your hot tub water will heat approximately 3 to 4 degrees Fahrenheit per hour (1 to 2 degrees Celsius) with the cover placed on your Valaris.
  • Adjust water chemistry in hot and cold sections according to the instructions provided in the Water Maintenance section of your owner’s manual.

CONNECTING TO THE SMART LIFE APP AND  CONTROLLING YOUR COLD TUB

  • Your Valaris has a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity option. You can take advantage of this feature to control your chiller and temperature setting on the cold tub side.

  • To get started, download the Smart Life app, which is available on the Google Play or Apple App stores. Sign up and register to create your account.

  • With your cold tub turned on, make sure that the circulation pump is moving water through the chiller.

  • You can connect to the Smart Life app during the first 10 minutes of the start-up period while the word “NET” is flashing on the chiller.

  • Open the Smart Life app on your phone and log in to your account. Click the “+” in the upper right corner and select “Add Device.” Follow the directions on the app to add
“Pool Heat Pump.” Reattach the access panel to complete the set-up.

  • NOTE: It might take several times to pair your cold tub depending on the strength of your Wi-Fi signal. Retry as needed or provide a stronger 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal to the area where the cold tub is located.
