Star Pattern Sequence for Tightening Lug Bolts
Good Lug Nut and Good Stud
It is important to ensure that the lug nuts and studs on your zero turn mower are in good condition. This will help to prevent any issues with the wheels coming loose while in use.
Product Usage Instructions
- Before using the zero turn mower, ensure that it is properly assembled according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Check that all lug nuts and studs are in good condition and tightened to the manufacturer’s torque specifications using the star pattern sequence for tightening.
- Ensure that the MICHELIN TWEEL tire and wheel assembly is mounted correctly to the machine torque specification to prevent any issues with separation or loss of control.
- Start the engine and engage the blades only when you are seated in the operator’s seat and have both hands on the levers.
- When mowing, use the levers to control the speed and direction of the mower. Always be aware of your surroundings and any obstacles that may be in your path.
- When finished mowing, turn off the engine and allow it to cool before storing the mower in a safe and secure location.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect and verify that the MICHELIN® X® TWEEL® tire and wheel assembly is mounted properly.
MICHELIN TWEEL tire and wheel assembly to machine torque specification
-
Ensure lug nuts with a 60° conical seat are used, and free from damage as pictured.
-
Tighten lug nuts to a snug “finger tight” condition (no wobble evident between the MICHELIN TWEEL tire and wheel assembly and the mounting surface).
-
Then torque each lug nut to the machine manufacturer’s specifications in a `star pattern’ sequence (see above).
Note: DO NOT EXCEED 75 lb-ft. -
Lug nuts should be re-torqued after first 10 hours of use, and during every maintenance interval.
Warning: Incorrect mounting can lead to separation of the TWEEL from the vehicle, loss of control, serious injury or death
