Tips and Their Uses
- Hot Wire Tip – Heats up in 5 seconds up to 171°C-196°C. The tip is designed to cut straight lines and curves and to sculpt edges of large pieces. You can reach perfect smooth and even cutting with hot wire.
- Holing Tip – Heats up in 30 seconds up to 223°C-262°C. This tip is perfect for creating more detailed design cutting.
- Engraving Tip – Heats up in 30 seconds up to 472°C-537°C. The engraving tip can be used to create patterns and designs in the foam surface. It engraves to a specified depth you want to reach. You can reach the ideal depth of engraving by controlling applied pressure.
HOW TO CARE AND CLEAN TIPS
- Keeping your foam cutting tool clean is mandatory if you want to reach a good result and make the process of cutting easier.
- Here are the most effective ways to clean the tips:
- Clean hot wire by just gently wiping it against a cloth or paper towel while the foam is in a melted state. It’s the only recommended way to clean the wire. If it starts not to cut as good as it used to, it means that you need to change the wire.
- You can clean the tips with acetone, but do it when the tips are cold.
- Sandpaper – it can be used to remove remains of melted foam from the hot-knife and engraving tips. This method is pretty easy and can be done frequently. We recommend using 320 grit paper to avoid damaging the tips.
- Steel wool – an easy way to clean the tips of your kit without any difficulties.
- Knife Method – another simple method to clean the tips and remove the remains of the foam buildup is using a knife.
- Jeweler’s Rouge – this is not as quick and easy as the other methods, but it’s safer and really effective for tips.
- Polishing Burr – it is one of the best ways to reach a deep clean result. But in this case, you need to be extremely careful in order not to over polish the tips as this may cause thinning over time.
