  • Never touch the device when your hands are wet or damp. This may cause a fatal electric shock!
  • Do not touch the product when there are any signs of damage on the appliance or the mains cable. Switch off the appropriate mains socket (e.g. via the respective circuit-breaker and the RCD), and then carefully unplug the device from the mains socket. Discontinue use and take the product to a specialist workshop.
  • Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes and radiators. The risk of an electric shock increases when your body is grounded.
  • Do not misuse the mains cable or extension cable. Never use the mains or extension cable to carry or pull the appliance. Never use the mains cable to pull the mains plug out of the mains socket. • Keep children, other people and animals away from the work area. Distractions can cause accidents.
  • Maintain a good footing to ensure that you can control the tool in the event of unforeseen situations.
  • Hold the tool with a firm grip. If the motor stops suddenly (e.g. if the brush becomes caught), the torque will be transmitted to the weed sweeper. This may cause the appliance to slip out of your hand and cause an injury!
  • Keep your workstation clean and ensure that it is well lit. A disorganized workstation or poor lighting can cause accidents. Ensure that your workstation is well ventilated.
  • Before each use, check the surface for any loose objects that may be thrown up into the air by the rotating brush. This may injure the user and/or other people/animals in the vicinity as well as damage the appliance. Dust from materials can be harmful to health and cause allergic reactions, respiratory illnesses and even cancer (materials containing asbestos must be handled by a qualified technician).
  • Do not insert any objects into the ventilation slots. In addition, ensure that no dust or other materials enter the ventilation slots, as this may result in a short circuit or cause a fire or explosion.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the power supply. Unplug the mains plug before moving away from the appliance.
  • Do not use the tool when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of carelessness can cause serious injuries.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear protective goggles, sturdy shoes, long trousers, ear defenders, and if necessary, gloves. Never work barefoot or with sandals.
  • Wear suitable protective clothing and remove all jewellery. Hair, jewellery and clothing may become trapped in the rotating parts. For this reason, use a hair net if you have long hair and wear tight-fitting clothing.
  • Always exercise caution when using the appliance, even if you have used it frequently. Always follow the safety information and remain alert at all times. A moment of carelessness can cause serious injuries.
  • Service the tool regularly and check for signs of damage, dirt, incorrect settings, wear and tear or other issues that may present a hazard. If the appliance is damaged, it must be repaired by a technician before you use it again. Poorly serviced tools frequently cause accidents.
  • Do not use the appliance if the brush is worn out. Only use original replacement brushes.
  • Always observe all relevant national regulations (e.g. occupational safety measures).
  • Condensation may form when the product is brought from a cold room into a warm one (e.g. during transportation). This can damage the product and cause a fatal electric shock! Always allow the product to reach room temperature before using it or connecting it to the mains voltage. This may take several hours.
  • Only use the product in temperate climates. It is not suitable for use in tropical climates.

Operation

a) Mains cable

The mains cable is very short to prevent it from being damaged by the rotating brush during use. An extension cable is therefore required to use the appliance. If the extension cable is damaged, it is easier to replace than the mains cable on the weed sweeper.

  • Make a loop with the extension cable and slide it from underneath into the opening on the handle near the cable grip (3)
  • Place the loop next to the cable grip (3) and pull it backwards to secure it in place.
  • Connect the mains plug on the weed sweeper to the socket on the extension cable.
  • Plug the mains plug on the extension cable into a mains socket.

b) Operation

Always observe the safety information at the beginning of these operating instructions.
Before using the weed sweeper, check whether there are any loose screws and ensure that the locking mechanisms are secure. In addition, check that the brush is intact (there must not be= any signs of excessive wear).

Always hold the weed sweeper with both hands using the handle (10) and the auxiliary handle (9).

Check whether the brush is suitable by using it in an area that is not susceptible to damage. Use the plastic brush on sensitive surfaces, as the wire brush damages these surfaces more easily.

Warning – the brush continues to rotate for a few seconds after the weed sweeper is switched off.

  • Press the switch lock (2), and then switch on the weed sweeper using the on/off switch (1).
The switch lock (2) can be pressed in both directions. This makes it easy to use for left and right-handed people.

  • Before commencing work, allow the weed sweeper to reach a constant speed.

  • Start cleaning in the area next to the mains socket, and then move away. This reduces the risk of running over and damaging the extension cable.

  • Do not overload the weed sweeper by applying too much pressure. Areas with stubborn dirt should be cleaned several times instead of applying additional pressure. This protects the surface and prevents the weed sweeper from becoming overloaded.

  • Move the weed sweeper slowly and evenly over the surface that you want to clean. Ensure that the weed sweeper keeps moving. Using it for too long in the same position may damage the surface.

  • Hold the weed sweeper so that the bottom is parallel to the ground.

  • To switch the weed sweeper off (after you have finished cleaning or in the event of a safety hazard), release the on/off switch (1)

Troubleshooting

The weed sweeper does not switch on:

  • The mains plug is not plugged into the socket on the extension cable.
  • The mains plug on the extension cable is not plugged into the mains socket.
  • The mains socket is switched off.

The brush does not rotate:

  • Switch off the weed sweeper immediately and disconnect it from the mains.
  • Check whether there are any objects wrapped around the brush or trapped in the protective cover.
  • If necessary, detach the brush and protective cover and remove the trapped objects.

Weeds are not fully removed:

  • The brush is worn out or damaged and must be replaced.
  • Tough weeds must be brushed several times to ensure that they are completely removed.
