General safety instructions
-
The cells in the Li-ion battery pack are sealed gastight and are non-hazardous provided the manufacturer’s instructions are adhered to during use.
-
The battery pack must only be used in accordance with its intended purpose and within the scope of the specifications.
-
Keep out of reach of children.
-
Keep the battery pack away from small metal objects (such as paperclips, coins, keys, nails, screws) which can bridge the contacts, even when it is not in use. Do not open or close the battery pack. A short circuit between the electrodes on the battery pack can result in burns or a fire.
-
Modifications or changes to the device are not permitted, this will otherwise invalidate the approval and safety specifications.
-
Battery packs which are damaged or modified physically (by impacts, the application of force, inserting objects) or by not observing the safety instructions and notes can cause leakages, the development of heat and smoke, ignition, fire, explosions, electric shock and severe injuries.
-
Protect battery packs from heat (prolonged sunlight, fire, etc.) for example, do not leave them in a car in the summer. Fire and temperatures over 60°C can cause explosions.
-
Repairs must only be carried out by authorised dealers.
-
The battery pack is supplied partially charged. To ensure the battery pack is fully charged, charge the battery pack fully before its first use using the chargers and cables recommended by the manufacturer. A charger intended for a particular type of battery can represent a fire hazard if it is used with other battery packs.
-
Handle discharged batteries carefully. Even if Li-ion battery packs appear to be discharged, they are never actually fully discharged.
-
Charging and discharging procedures can also cause the battery pack to heat up.
Do not cover the battery pack during these procedures and do not leave it in the vicinity of inflammable materials. -
Charge the battery pack at ambient temperatures of 0°C to 40°C.
-
A significantly reduced operating time after charging indicates that the battery pack is spent and must be replaced. Observe disposal instructions.
-
To protect the battery pack from overloading, do not use it with devices for which it is not intended. Using devices not approved by the manufacturer invalidates the warranty.
-
Damage to or incorrect use of the battery pack can cause vapours which can irritate the airways. Inhale fresh air and contact a doctor if any symptoms occur.
-
A defective or incorrectly used battery pack can discharge inflammable liquids and wet adjacent objects. Avoid direct contact. In the event of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
-
If any liquids which have leaked out of the battery make contact with the eyes, take additional medical advice.
-
Liquids which have leaked out of the battery can cause skin irritations or burns.
Avoid contact with the skin by wearing safety gloves. Replace the affected components if necessary. -
Liquids which have leaked out of the battery may represent an increased danger of fire in the vicinity of naked flames. Check and clean wetted components, for example, with dry paper towels, and rinse thoroughly with water
-
Never extinguish burning Li-ion battery packs with water.
Use sand or a fire blanket. -
This Li-ion battery pack is subject to the provisions of the hazardous goods law.
The battery pack can be transported on roads by the user without any additional requirements. -
When dispatching via a third party, e.g. by airfreight or haulier, special packaging and marking requirements must be observed.
An expert in hazardous goods must be consulted to prepare the package. -
Only dispatch undamaged battery packs. Insulate open contacts and secure the battery pack such that the packaging prevents slippage and damage. Observe any further national regulations.
