Information about induction cooking
Induction cooking is safe, fast and very economical. It works on the principle of electromagnetic waves. The heat is generated directly in the bottom of the container, not under the surface. The glass-ceramic surface heats up only secondarily, from the temperature of the vessel itself.

Before using a new induction hob

  • Please read this instruction manual carefully before using the hob.
  • Remove all protective films from the induction hob before use.

Touch Controls

  • The controls respond to touch, so you don’t need to apply any pressure.
  • Use the ball of your finger. not its tip.
  • You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.
  • Make sure the controls are always clean, dry and that there is no object covering them. Even a thin film of water may make the controls difficult to operate.

Choosing the right cookware

  • Only use cookware with a base suitable for induction cooking

  • Look for the induction symbol on the packaging or on the bottom of the pan.

  • You can check whether your cookware is suitable by carrying out a magnet test.

  • Move a magnet towards the base of the pan. If it is attracted, the pan is suitable for induction.

    • Put some water in the pan you want to check.
    • If does not flash 2. If does not flash the pan is suitable.
  • Do not use cookware with jagged edges or a curved base.eta-579190000-Induction-Hob-06

  • Make sure that the base of your pan is smooth, sits fiat against the glass, and is the same size as the cooking zone. Use pans whose diameter is as large as the graphic of the zone selected. Using a pot a slightly wider energy will be used at its maximum efficiency. lf you use smaller pot efficiency could be less than expected.

  • Always centre your pan on the cooking zone and always respect the minimum recommended bottom diameters of the cooking vessels for the individual cooking zones.
    eta-579190000-Induction-Hob-07

  • Always lift pans off the induction hob – do not slide, or they may scratch the glass.

Pot dimensions
The cooking zones are automatically adapted to the diameter of the pot up to the limit. However, the base of the pot must have a minimum diameter according to the respective cooking zone. To achieve the best efficiency of the hob, place the pot in the center of the cooking zone.

PROTECTION

Protection from over-heating
A sensor monitors the temperature in the cooking zanes. When the temperature exceeds a safe level, the cooking zone is automatically switched off.

Spill protection
Spill protection is a safety protection feature. It turns off the hob automatically within 10 seconds if water enters the control panel, with a buzzer beeping for 1 second.

Detection of small or non-magnetic items
When a pan with a diameter of less than 60 mm, or some other small item (e.g. knife, fork, key) or a non-magnetic pan (e.g. aluminium) has been left on the hob, the hob goes automatically on to standby after 1 minute, and the fan will keep cooling down the hob for further 1 minute.

Auto shutdown
Another safety feature of the induction hob is auto shutdown. This occurs whenever you forget to switch off a cooking zone. The default shutdown times are shown in the table below:

Power level| 1| 2| 3| 4| 5| 6| 7| 8| 9| II

When the pan is removed from the cooking zone, it stops heating immediately and switches itself off after 2 minutes when cooling down.

Power distribution
In the event that the total required power of all active hotplates during cooking exceeds the maximum permitted power input set using the Power Control function (see later in the manual), mutually variable corrections will be made to the power outputs of all active hotplates so that the set maximum value of the selected power input is not exceeded.

CLEANING

What? How? Important warning!

Everyday soiling of the glass (fingerprints, smudges, food residue or puddles without sugar on the glass)

|

1. Turn off the power to the hob.

2. Apply the cleaner to the hob while the glass is still warm (but not hot!)

3.  Rinse and wipe dry with

a clean cloth or paper towel.

4. Turn on the power to the hob.

| •  When the power to the hob is switched off, the hot surface indicator does not work and the cooking zones may still be hot! Be extremely careful.

•  Strong scourers, some nylon scourers, and harsh/abrasive cleaners can scratch the glass. Always read the label to check if the cleaner or scourer is suitable.

•  Never leave residue on the hob after cleaning: the glass may become discolored.

Overboiling, melted food and hot sugary foods puddles

on the glass.

| Remove them immediately with a turner, spatula or scraper suitable for the glass of an induction hob, but be careful of the hot surfaces of the cooking zones:

1. Turn off the power to the hob at the wall socket.

2.  Use a knife or other tool at a 30° angle to scrape away

dirt or stains towards the cool part of the hob.

3.  Clean up dirt or puddles with a cloth or paper towel.

4.  Follow steps 2 through 4 for “Everyday Glass Soiling” above.

|

•  Remove stains left by melted and sweet foods or puddles as soon as possible. If they cool on the glass, it can be difficult to remove them and there is even a risk of permanent damage to the glass surface.

•  Risk of cuts: the blade of the scraper is razor sharp. Use with extreme caution and always store safely and out of the reach of children.

Puddles on touch controls

| 1. Turn off the power to the hob.

2. Wipe up spilled liquid.

3. Wipe the touch control surface with a clean damp sponge or cloth.

4. Then dry it with a paper towel.

5. Turn on the power to the hob.

| •  The hob may beep and shut down and the touch controls may not work if liquid is spilled on them. Before switching the hob back on, check that the surface of the controls

is wiped dry.

Before installing the hob, check that

  • The work surface is level and flat and no structural elements prevent the fulfillment of space requirements,
  • The work surface is made of heat-resistant material,
  • if the hob is installed above the oven, the oven must have a built-in cooling fan,
  • The installation meets all requirements for free space and applicable standards and regulations,
  • in the permanent electrical installation, there is a suitable disconnector ensuring complete disconnection from the mains, which is installed in accordance with local laws and regulations for electrical installation.
  • the omni polar circuit bracer must be an approved type with a 3 mm air gap between the contacts in all poles (or on all live [phase] conductors if local electrical codes permit this change of requirements),
  • The disconnector is easily accessible even after the hob has been installed,
  • if in doubt about the installation, you can consult the local building authorities and regulations,
  • The surface of the walls surrounding the hob, you should choose heat-resistant and easy-to-clean finishes (for example ceramic tiles).

After installing the hob, check that

  • The power cable is not accessible through doors or sockets,
  • A sufficient flow of fresh air from the outside of the cabinets to the bottom of the hob is ensured,
  • if the hob is installed above a drawer or cabinet, thermal insulation is placed on the bottom of the hob,
  • The disconnector is easily accessible even after the hob is installed.

Warnings

  5. To avoid any damage, the sandwich layer and adhesive should be heat-resistant.

CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY

WARNING
The hob must be installed by a properly qualified person. Never try to install the appliance yourself.

Before connecting the hob to the mains, please check

  1. The domestic electrical installation is suitable for the power of the hob.
  2. The voltage corresponds to the value indicated on the nameplate.
  3. The cross-sections of the power cable can withstand the load indicated on the nameplate. Do not use adapters, reducers or branching devices to connect the hob to the mains, as they may cause overheating and fire.
    • The power cable must not come into contact with hot surfaces and must be routed so that the temperature does not exceed 75 °C at any point.
    • Consult an electrician to see if the home wiring is suitable without further modifications. Any changes may only be made by a qualified electrician.

The socket should be connected in compliance with the relevant standard to a adequate circuit breaker.
