Product Information

The product mentioned in the user manual is the BAYBASE205 Downflow Gas-Fired Furnace Subbase. The sub-base is designed to be used with furnaces installed on combustible flooring. The installation of the sub-base must comply with national, state, and local codes. The duct sizes, floor opening, and plenum opening dimensions are given in Table 1 and Figure 1 respectively. The clearances between the plenum and combustible surfaces must be equal to or greater than those shown on the clearance label on the particular furnace. Flanges should be formed on the plenum as shown in Figure 2.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Unpack the sub-base and prepare the floor opening as shown in Figure 1. If joists are cut, headers should be provided on either side of the opening to support the base and furnace.
  2. Check local building codes for requirements on floor loading and support.
  3. Slide the two halves of the sub-base together, being sure to have the tabs on the outside of both overlapping pieces.
  4. Slide and match the holes on either end to the appropriate width of the furnace (14-1/2, 17-1/2, 21, or 24-1/2).
  5. Secure the two pieces together with two sheet metal screws (included).
  6. Bend the two tabs on each side and a tab on one end (which will be to the back of the furnace) up. These will be used to locate and secure the furnace.
  7. Set the base on the floor over the opening and secure it to the edge of the flooring with screws or nails through the four holes provided under the side tabs.
  8. Position insulation over the sub-base.
  9. Insert the supply duct connection (plenum) through the subbase using care to retain the insulation position.
  10. Place the furnace in position over the sub-base assembly with the back of the furnace against the back tab.
  11. Drill through the tabs into the furnace cabinet and secure the furnace in position with sheet metal screws.
