Choosing the suitable accessory

Use for sanding, such as removing old paint and smoothening rough wooden surfaces.

  • Begin with a coarse grit, then use finer grits to obtain the desired finish.
  • Sand with continuous sweeping, side to side motion with moderate pressure.
  • Use the entire surface of the sanding pad (J) and sandpaper (K), not only the tip or edges. t Always replace worn sandpaper (K) to avoid

Use for sawing of openings in a surface, sawing of gaps, and cutting tiles.

  • Suggest to use a high speed setting. Turn the variable speed dial (D) to position 5 or 6.

Applications

WARNING Risk of electric shock!
Check work area for hidden gas pipes, electrical wires or water pipes when making blind or plunge cuts.

WARNING Risk of injury!

  • Hold the tool firmly in the hand-grip (B) with one hand, keeping the tool under control when adjusting the speed when running at no-load. Failure to obey this caution could lead to lose control of the tool, resulting in serious personal injuries. t Always secure and clamp small workpieces.
  • This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration may cause temporary or permanent injuries, particularly to the hands, arms and shoulders.

NOTICE
The tool works via thousands of minute, side to side movements of 1.8 degrees in fast repetition and in the range of 11000 to 16000 strokes per minute.

Sanding pad

NOTICE

  • Sand a test sample of the workpiece to select the suitable sandpaper (K) for the job.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure when sanding. It can result in unwanted sanding marks and cause the tool to overload.
  • Do not use a worn sandpaper (K). Replace the sandpaper (K) when needed.
  1. Align the sandpaper (K) with the sanding pad (J) and press it firmly onto the sanding pad (J) (Fig. 13). DENALI-ARS5829B-00-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-18
  2. Start the tool and allow the sanding pad (J) to reach its full selected speed.
  3. Allow the sanding pad (J) to contact the workpiece. Use the entire surface of the sanding pad (J) and press it against the workpiece (Fig. 14).DENALI-ARS5829B-00-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-19
  4. Sand with continuous sweeping, side to side motion with moderate pressure.
  5. After use, stop the tool and allow the sanding pad (J) to come to a complete stop.
  6. Lift the tool off the workpiece.

Sandpaper grit ranges
Selecting the correct grit is an important step in achieving optimum results. The higher the grit number the finer the abrasive material is on the disc. The lower the grit number the coarser the abrasive material is on the disc. Different grits serves different purposes:

HCS flush circular blade

NOTICE

  • Use the HCS flush circular blade (L) for making precise cuts in tight areas, close to edges or flush to a surface.
  • It is suggested to have a piece of scrap material for supporting when making a flush cut. If you need to rest the HCS flush circular blade (L) on a delicate surface, use cardboard or masking tape to protect the surface.
  • If you are experiencing a strong vibration in hand during the cut, it indicates too much pressure on the tool. Back off on the pressure and let the speed of the tool do the work.
  1. Start the tool and allow the HCS flush circular blade (L) to reach its full selected speed.
  2. Guide the HCS flush circular blade (L) into the workpiece to make a shallow scoring cut, then gradually deepen it (Fig. 15). DENALI-ARS5829B-00-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-20
  3. Swing the HCS flush circular blade (L) occasionally back and forth out of the kerf to clean out dust.
  4. After use, stop the tool and allow the HCS flush circular blade (L) to come to a complete stop.
  5. Lift the tool off the workpiece.

HCS plunge-cut blade

NOTICE

  • If you are experiencing a strong vibration in hand during the cut, it indicates too much pressure on the tool. Back off on the pressure and let the speed of the tool do the work.
  • Always keep the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) perpendicular to the workpiece.
  1. Draw the guidelines on the workpiece.
  2. Start the tool and allow the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) to reach its full selected speed.
  3. Guide the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) into the workpiece to make a shallow scoring cut, then gradually deepen it (Fig. 16).DENALI-ARS5829B-00-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-21
  4. Move the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) back and forth in a slow, sideways motion, while keeping the blade teeth in the workpiece.
  5. Cut the workpiece along the line and apply appropriate pressure until the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) cuts to the desired depth.
  6. After use, stop the tool and allow the HCS plunge-cut blade (M) to come to a complete stop.
  7. Lift the tool off the workpiece.

Rigid scraper blade

NOTICE

  • When removing strong, tacky adhesive, grease the rigid scraper blade (N) surface to reduce gumming up.
  • When removing carpet or vinyl flooring, score the flooring prior to the scraping process.
  • Begin with light pressure. The oscillating motion of accessory only occurs when pressure is applied to the material to be removed.
  • When removing caulk from a delicate surface, such as a bath tub or tile back splash, use tapes to protect the surface that rigid scraper blade (N) will rest on.
  1. Start the tool and allow the rigid scraper blade (N) to reach its full selected speed.
  2. Place the rigid scraper blade (N) at a very flat angle on the surface (Fig. 17). Make sure the clamping screw does not make contact with the surface during the scraping process.DENALI-ARS5829B-00-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-22
  3. After use, stop the tool and allow the rigid scraper blade (N) to come to a complete stop.
  4. Lift the tool off the workpiece.
