FMVSS 110 Compliance Information
All dealers must determine if the Net weight they have added in the form of
all options or accessories, when added to the weight of all Port/Dealer
Installed options or accessories, exceeds the lesser of 1.5% of GVWR or 100
lbs. If the additional weight does exceed the lesser of the indicated
thresholds, a “Load
Carrying Capacity Reduced” label must be installed. A black, fine-point,
indelible marker must be used to write by hand onto the label, the reduced
carrying capacity in kilograms or pounds, which is the total weight of all
added options and accessories.

Notes to the installer:
- Read the entire Installation Instructions prior to beginning the installation of this accessory.
- If applicable, scan the barcode label located on the accessory part or packaging prior to installing, to register the part. If this accessory is installed as a replacement, register the removal of the old part before registering the new part. Old and new parts will have different barcode data, and the old registration cannot be reused.
- Make sure the vehicle is completely clean and dry in the area(s) the part is to be installed.
- Ensure the vehicle is properly protected in the area(s) that the accessory is to be installed.
- NEVER place tools on painted surfaces, seating surfaces, dash pad, console or floor carpet/mats.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, etc., when required.
- Roll down the driver’s window and adjust the power seats (if applicable) prior to disconnecting battery power, if needed.
- Record radio presets prior to disconnecting battery power, if needed.
- Vehicle should be at room temperature.

The tow hitch mounting plates will flex until they seat against the vehicle’s mounting points during the hardware torquing process.

Vehicle Lift
NOTE:
A. Position the vehicle on a vehicle lift.
B. Raise vehicle to desired working height to access the under body at
the rear bumper.
WARNING: Comply with vehicle lift manufacture’s instructions and safety when using the lift.
Clip Removal Tool
NOTE:
A. Remove the ten (10) clips securing the rear lower bumper panel and
store in a safe location for reinstallation.
B. Remove the rear lower bumper panel and set aside in a safe location.
C. Remove the two (2) clips from the driver and passenger side wheel well
splash guard as shown, and store in a safe location for reinstallation.
Ratchet and #2 Phillips Socket
NOTE:
A. Remove the two (2) lower screws securing the wheel well splash guard
on passenger side. Store the screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
B. Pull splash guard forward and tuck up over tire.
C. Repeat on the driver side.
10mm Socket, Extension and Ratchet
NOTE:
A. Remove the three (3) rearmost bolts securing the underbody panel to
gain extra space for tow hitch installation.
B. Store the screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
**Clip Removal Tool
**
NOTE:
A. Carefully dislodge the push-in cable tie shown on the driver side.
Clip Removal Tool and Shears
NOTE:
A. Carefully dislodge the large factory connector from its sub-frame
mounting bracket on the driver’s side behind the rear bumper.
B. Secure the large factory connector to the existing hole above its
original location to the frame rail end plate as shown, using two (2) cable
ties.
C. Trim excess cable tie material.
NOTE:
A. Before installing the hitch, confirm there is no debris or weld
spatter in the chassis rail weld nuts. Confirm three (3) M12 bolts thread into
the three (3) mounting holes on the driver’s side frame rail as shown.
B. Repeat procedure on the passenger’s side frame rail.
M12-1.25 Thread Chaser Tool
NOTE:
A. If needed, use an M12-1.25 thread chaser to clean out the weld nuts.
Do not cross-thread the weld nut threads when chasing them.
NOTE:
A. Preassemble twelve (12) M12 bolts with twelve (12) M12 toothed
washers.
NOTE: Make sure the ‘toothed side’ of washer is installed facing away
from the bolt head.
B. Carefully lift the driver side hitch plate into position as shown.
C. Hand tighten three (3) M12 bolts with three (3) M12 toothed washers.
NOTE: Make sure the ‘toothed side’ on each washer is installed facing the
hitch plate.
D. Repeat the procedure for the passenger side plate.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT use any tools to tighten the hardware at this time.
NOTE:
A. Before installing the hitch, confirm there is no debris or weld
spatter in the hitch weld nuts. Confirm three (3) M12 bolts thread into the
three (3) hitch weld nuts on the passenger side.
B. Repeat procedure on the driver side.
C. With the assistance of another person, carefully lift the hitch into
position between the driver and passenger side hitch plates.
D. Hand tighten six (6) M12 bolts with six (6) M12 toothed washers
through the driver’s and passenger’s side hitch plates and into the hitch.
NOTE: Make sure the ‘toothed side’ on each washer is installed facing the
hitch plates.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT use any tools to tighten the hardware at this time.
Make sure the ‘toothed side’ of washer is installed facing the hitch plates.
**** Ratchet, Extension, Torque Wrench and 19mm Socket
NOTE:
A. Starting on the driver’s side, tighten the rearmost bolt (# 1) until
tow hitch plate makes contact with vehicle’s chassis rail. Do NOT torque bolts
at this time.
B. Repeat procedure A above for center bolt (# 2) then forward bolt (#
3).
C. Repeat procedure A & B above on the passenger’s side.
D. Torque the three (3) bolts on the passenger’s side in the sequence # 1
through # 3 to: 92.00 N.m (9.37 kgf-m, 68.00 lbf-ft).
E. Repeat procedure D above on the driver’s side.
F. Verify the hardware is properly torqued by repeating procedure D & E
above
Ensure that the six (6) bolts are properly torqued. Do not over-torque the hardware. Ensure the torque wrench is properly calibrated.
Ratchet, Extension, Torque Wrench and 19mm Socket
NOTE:
A. On the driver’s side, tighten the rearmost bolt (# 1) until tow hitch
plate and hitch make contact. Do NOT torque bolts at this time.
B. Repeat procedure A above for bolt (# 2) then bolt (# 3).
C. Repeat procedure A & B above on the passenger’s side.
D. Torque the three (3) bolts on the passenger’s side in the sequence # 1
through # 3 to: 92.00 N.m (9.37 kgf-m, 68.00 lbf-ft).
E. Repeat procedure D above on the driver’s side.
F. Verify the hardware is properly torqued by repeating procedure D & E
above.
**** Ensure that the six (6) bolts are properly torqued. Do not over-torque the hardware. Ensure the torque wrench is properly calibrated.
**** Yellow or White Paint Pen
NOTE:
A. Mark a line across all twelve (12) M12 bolts and onto the tow hitch
plates using a yellow or white paint pen as shown.
B. Install the Tow Hitch Harness per installation instructions included
with the harness.
Ratchet, Extension, Torque Wrench and 3/8″ Socket
NOTE:
A. Insert the Tow Hitch Harness 4-Flat Connector through back side of the
4-Flat Connector Bracket as shown.
B. Place two (2) #10 carriage bolts through the top of the 4-Flat
Connector Bracket and install two (2) #10 spacers as shown.
C. Make sure the Ground Pin is positioned towards the driver’s side of
the vehicle.
D. Place the 4-Flat connector and bracket assembly through the hitch
bracket so the larger forward detent is located in the rectangular slot in the
hitch plate.
E. Thread two (2) #10 nylock hex nuts to secure the connector bracket to
the hitch and torque to: 1.36 N·m (0.14 kgf-m, 12.00 lbf-in)
NOTE: Make sure the bracket is in the orientation shown above and aligned
squarely on the hitch connector bracket.
**** Do not over-torque the hardware. Ensure the torque wrench is properly calibrated.
NOTE:
A. Install the connector dust cover onto the 4-flat connector.
10mm Socket, #2 Phillips Socket, Extension and Ratchet
NOTE:
A. Reinstall the three (3) rearmost bolts securing the underbody panel.
B. Reinstall both rear wheel well splash guards and secure using the two
(2) lower screws on each side.
Shears, Paint Pen and Tape Measure
NOTE:
A. Per illustration above, measure and mark 35mm (1.4″) from the center
two (2) clip holes towards the center of the rear lower bumper panel.
B. Using shears, cut the measured center piece out from the rear lower
bumper panel.
NOTE: The center piece width should measure 97mm (3.8″).
C. Discard the center piece.
NOTE:
A. Raise the driver side piece of the rear lower bumper panel and secure
with five (5) clips.
B. Raise the passenger side piece of the rear lower bumper panel and
secure with five (5) clips.
C. Reinstall the two (2) clips from the driver and passenger side wheel
well splash guard as shown.
Vehicle Lift 20
NOTE:
A. Lower the vehicle.
WARNING: Comply with vehicle lift manufacture’s instructions and safety when using the lift.
NOTE:
A. Place box containing the ball mount, hitch pin & clip under the cargo
floorboard in the cargo storage compartment.

Make sure the twelve (12) M12 x 35 bolts are torqued to: 92.00 N·m (9.37
kgf·m, 68.00 lbf·ft)
Make sure all twelve (12) bolts and surrounding tow hitch surfaces are marked
using a paint pen
Make sure the two (2) #10 nylock hex nuts are torqued to: 1.36 N·m (0.14
kgf-m, 12.00 lbf-in)
Make sure the underbody panel is reinstalled and seated properly.
Make sure the wheel well splash guard is reinstalled and seated properly.
Make sure the driver’s side rear lower bumper panel is reinstalled and seated
properly.
Make sure the passenger’s side rear lower bumper panel is reinstalled and
seated properly.
Make sure the ball mount box is placed under cargo floorboard in the cargo
storage compartment.
Make sure the 4-flat connector is mounted in hitch electrical bracket and dust
cap is secured over the connector.
Result
The twelve (12) M12 x 35 bolts are torqued to: 92.00 N·m (9.37 kgf·m, 68.00
lbf·ft)
All twelve (12) bolts and surrounding tow hitch surfaces have paint line
marks.
The two (2) #10 nylock hex nuts are torqued to: 1.36 N·m (0.14 kgf-m, 12.00
lbf-in)
The underbody panel is reinstalled and seated properly.
The wheel well splash guard is reinstalled and seated properly.
The driver’s side rear lower bumper panel is reinstalled and seated properly.
The passenger’s side rear lower bumper panel is reinstalled and seated
properly.
Ball mount box is placed under cargo floorboard in the cargo storage
compartment.
The 4-flat connector is mounted in hitch electrical bracket and dust cap is
secured over the connector.
