Charging the Battery
Charge the battery before first use.

  1. Insert the battery into the charging station (9) and connect the charger (13) with the charging station and the wall socket. The rechargeable battery (1) fits in one position only into the charging station. The charging indicator lamp (12) turns on red and indicates that the battery is charged.
  2. After charging process (3 – 5 hours) the charging indicator lamp (12) turns on green. Remove the battery from the charging station and unplug the charger.

Hints:

  • The electronics protects the battery from over-charging, over-heating and total discharge. There is no loss of charge. The battery is characterized by low self-discharge. A fully charged battery is always ready for use, even if you do not use it for months.
  • A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full capacity until after approx. 5 charging/discharging cycles. When properly using the battery it can be charged up to 1000 times.
  • If you notice during operation that the tines movement slows down or stops abruptly, the battery is discharged. Always avoid discharging the battery completely.
  • Please order a second battery under the article no. 81 50 51 (1300 mAh) or 93 92 77 (1500 mAh), so will be able to operate the hand-tiller continuously.

  • Remove leaves and foliage from the area you want to dig up. Be sure to remove strongly rooted plants (e.g. ground covers), as the creeping roots of ground covers can get caught in the tine wheels. Remove trapped leaves and twigs, preferably with pointed pliers. First remove the battery from the device before you intend clean it.

  • To achieve cleanly hoed soil always ensure that you guide the hand-tiller in straight lines wherever possible. Please observe that the aeration swaths should always overlap each other by a few centimeters in order to avoid bare strips.
  • Switch off the motor promptly when you arrive at the end of the area you wished to hoe. The motor must be switched off when you raise the device (e. g. to change direction).
  • Keep the underside of the hand-tiller clean and remove soil deposits. Deposits make it more difficult to start the motor and decrease the working depth.
  • Always work perpendicular to the slop on inclined areas.
  • Warning! The tiller wheels will continue to rotate for a few seconds after the motor is switched off. Never attempt to manually stop them. In the event that the rotating tiller tines strikes an object, immediately switch off the machine and wait for the tiller wheels to come to a complete stop. Then inspect the condition of the tiller wheels. Replace the tiller wheels completely in case of damage.
  • Work with the device slowly in parallel lines. Take care not to injure your feet/hands.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure when working with the unit. Always be careful when working
  • Please observe the national regulations concerning noise protection. The use of the garden tool is restricted on certain days (holi-days) and at certain times (noonday).
  • To avoid injuries preferably remove the battery from the unit when not in use and after work.
  • Avoid pushing the hand-tiller in order to achieve a greater working depth.
  • If the power is reduced, either the ground is too hard, or the tiller tines are worn out.
  • Notice! For protection, the device is equipped with a thermal switch which cuts out when the motor is overloaded and switches on again automatically after a cooling period.

The declared vibration total value and the declared noise emission values have been measured in accordance with a standard test method and may be used for comparing one tool with another. The declared vibration total value may also be used in a preliminary assessment of exposure.

Warning!
The vibration and noise emission during actual use of the power tool can differ from the declared total value depending on the ways in which the tool is used, in particular, what kind of work piece is machined.

It is necessary to identify safety measured to protect the operator that are based on an estimation of exposure in the actual conditions of use (taking account of all parts of the operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time)
Try to minimize the impact of vibration and noise. Exemplary measures to reduce vibration exposure include wearing gloves while using the tool, limiting working time, and using accessories in good condition.
