Safety instructions

1.1 In general
The user manual is part of the product and contains important information for correct use.

  • Read the user manual completely and carefully before use. The user manual must be available for uncertainties and passing the product.
  • Keep this user manual.
  • Do not open the housing.
  • Do not modify product and accessories.
  • Do not short-circuit connectors and circuits.
  • Do not use the product in live circuits.
  • Use product, product parts and accessories only in perfect condition.
  • In case of questions, defects, mechanical damage, trouble and other problems, non-recoverable by the documentation, contact your dealer or producer.
  • Place, install and transport product, product parts and accessories in a safe way. Not meant for children. The product is not a toy!
  • Secure packaging, small parts and insulation against accidental use.
  • Avoid stresses such as heat and cold, moisture and direct sunlight, microwaves, vibrations and mechanical pressure.
  • Use the product only in dry interior rooms.
  • Route the cable safely. Risk of injury by stumbling and falling.

1.2 Batteries

  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Only use batteries of the same or equivalent type as recom mended.
  • Do not mix alkaline, carbon zinc or nickel cadmium batteries.
  • Remove leaked, deformed or corroded batteries from the product and dispose them by appropriate protectives.
  • Do not throw into fire.

Description and function

2.1 Product
Telephone and network installation tool set for installing and checking the home network.

  • Laying tool for LSA – with pulling hook and unlocking blade.
  • Network tester – suitable for RJ11, RJ12 and RJ45 cables
  • Stripping tool – can be used with cable cutter up to AWG22
  •  Crimping tool – applicable up to 8P & 6P plugs
  • Powered by a 9 V block (not included)

Intended use

We do not permit using the device in other ways like described in chapter “Description or Function“ and „Safety Instructions“. Not attending to these regulations and safety instructions might cause fatal accidents, injuries, and damages to persons and property.

Preparation

  1. Check the scope of delivery for completeness and integrity.
  2. Compare the specifications of all used devices and ensure compatibility.

Commissioning

5.1 Changing the battery

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the master unit.
  2. Connect a new 9 V block to the battery terminals + and -.
  3. Place the 9 V block in the battery compartment. This is not included in the delivery.
  4. Close the battery compartment.

5.2 Connection
Connect a network cable with RJ11 or RJ45 plugs to the master and remote units.
5.3 Operating the network tester

  1. Switch on the unit (5).
    The LAN cable tester now tests the individual wires. Alternatively, you can use the slow test function.

  2. To do this, switch the unit to S-Slow(5).

  3. Check the network cable.

Situation 1:
Pin 2 is connected 1:1.
Cable ok
Situation 2:
Pin 2 is not connected.
Cable defective
Situation 3:
Pin 2 and 3 short-circuited.
Cable defective
Situation 4:
Pin 2 is connected to pin 6.

    • Connect the LSA contacts of cables e.g. to modules, main distributors or to network sockets by pressing them on.
    • Release LSA and other contacts by using the integrated screwdriver or by pulling them out with the hook.

5.5 Stripping single-core cables
The crimping tool is suitable for stripping single-core cables with a cross- section of about 1 mm².

  1. Cut the modular cable at right angles to the desired length.
  2. Insulate the modular cable by inserting it from the side with 2 blades so that it rests against the cutting tool.
  3. Carefully press the crimping tool shut. Turn the modular cable while it is pressed shut for better stripping.
  4. Pull the modular cable out of the crimping tool while it is pressed shut.
  5. The inner conductor is now exposed.

5.6 Crimping RJ11-45 plugs

  1. Assemble the cable to be crimped according to the connector to be crimped.
  2. Push any bend protection sleeve onto the cable.
  3. Insert the plug to be crimped with the cable into the opened crimping tool. Make sure that the cable is correctly coded.
  4. Press the crimping pliers firmly shut.
  5. Push any anti-kink sleeve onto the plug until it clicks into place. The cable is now ready for use.

5.7 Cutting and stripping tool
Use the cutting and stripping tool for cutting and stripping multicore cables.

  1. If necessary, adjust the stop screw with a Phillips screwdriver so that the inner conductors or the inner cables are not damaged.
  2. Insert the cable sideways into the cutting or stripping tool up to the desired length.
  3. Carefully press the cutting and stripping tool closed.
  4. Turn the cable while it is pressed shut to improve stripping.
  5. Pull the cable out of the cutting and stripping tool while it is pressed shut.

Maintenance, Care, Storage and Transportation

The product is maintenance-free.
NOTICE!
Material damage

  • Only use a dry and soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Do not use detergents or chemicals.
  • Store the product out the reach of children and in a dry and dust-protected ambience when not in use.
  • Store cool and dry.
  • Keep and use the original packaging for transport.

Disposal instructions

7.1 Product
According to the European WEEE directive, electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed with consumers waste. Its components must be recycled or disposed apart from each other. Otherwise contaminative and hazardous substances can damage the health and pollute the environment. As a consumer, you are committed by law to dispose electrical and electronic devices to the producer, the dealer, or public collecting points at the end of the devices lifetime for free. Particulars are regulated in national right. The symbol on the product, in the user manual, or at the packaging alludes to these terms. With this kind of waste separation, application, and waste disposal of used devices you achieve an important share to environmental protection.
