before the first use

Before you use the appliance for the first time, please do as follows: Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all the packaging material and any promotional stickers. Keep the material (plastic, polystyrene and cardboard) out of reach of children. Check the appliance after unpacking for any damage, possible from transportation. Place the appliance on a flat and stable surface. Make sure there is enough open space around the appliance for the intake and/or outlet vents. A minimum clearance of 10 cm is required between the appliance and any adjacent walls. Keep a clearance of 70 cm above the appliance. The appliance needs good ventilation for easy dissipation of heat, high efficiency of refrigeration and low power consumption.
Leave the appliance to stand for at least 3 hours before you insert the plug into the socket.
First clean the interior of the appliance. Use warm water and a neutral detergent. After cleaning, rinse the interior with clean water and rub dry. Leave the appliance to dry for 1 to 2 hours.
Open the cover on the back of the appliances. Remove the power cord from the compartment, and close the cover again.

usage

The control unit of the appliance is located on the outside. Check that the voltage corresponds with what is stated on the information plate.

  • Insert the plug in the socket.

  • The indicator light at Celsius or Fahrenheit on the control panel lights up to indicate that the freezer is connected to the power supply. If required, hold down the TEMP button for 3 seconds to change between Celsius or Fahrenheit temperature display.
The display shows the set temperature.

  • Adjust the temperature with the temperature setting button. Repeatedly press the TEMP button briefly to change the temperature setting in the freezer from +10 ˚C to -30 ˚C (+50 ˚F to -22 ˚F).
The appliance will now freeze continuously until the set temperature has been reached.
Allow the appliance to reach the required temperature with no food. Usually this will take 2 to 3 hours. After this, you are able to fill the appliance with food.

  • Press the SUPER button to switch on the Super Freeze function when adding warm food to the freezer. The accompanying indicator light will light up and the freezer will now freeze at maximum capacity.
In case of a power interruption, the Super Freeze function is not switched on again automatically, once the power supply has been restored. If necessary, this should be done manually.

  • The ‘temperature too high’ indicator switches on when the temperature in the freezer has become too high, such as after a power interruption. Keep the cover closed during the period that the indicator light lights up. Once the freezer starts freezing again and the temperature is back to normal, the indicator light switches off automatically.
Switch off the appliance by pulling the plug out of the socket.

Display

  • The display shows the set temperature in the freezer. In case of a failure, the display can also display an error code.
  • Normally, the temperature indication disappears 30 seconds after pressing the TEMP button for the last time. If you want to display the temperature continuously, hold down the TEMP and SUPER buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. ‘OF’ will be briefly shown on the display, after which the temperature will be displayed continuously. Repeat this procedure to have the temperature display disappear again after 30 seconds. ‘ON’ is briefly shown on the display and the function is switched on again.
  • You can lock the temperature setting by holding down the SUPER button for 3 seconds.
To switch the lock off again, hold down the SUPER button for 3 seconds again. After that, you can change the temperature setting again.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE LID
The lid is provided with a tight sealing. Therefore, it can be difficult to open the lid immediately after closing. A vacuum may form.
In that case wait a few minutes before opening the lid again.

SHELVING BASKET
The freezer comes with a shelving basket. Hang the basket on the top edge in the freezer.

Note:
The ambient air temperature, how often the lid is opened and the position of the appliance can affect the internal temperature.
These factors must be taken into account when setting the thermostat.

  • Do not put hot food into the freezer.
  • Never introduce volatile, inflammable or explosive fluids such as alcohol, acetone or petrol because of the risk of explosion.
  • It is advisable to wrap meat and fish to avoid odours.
  • The lid should not be left open any longer than necessary.
  • Do not freeze too large an amount of food at one time; the faster the food is frozen, the longer is preserves its qualities.
  • Place frozen food in the freezer compartment as soon as possible after purchase. Make sure that it doesn’t defrost during transport.
  • Do not store glass bottles or containers with liquids in the freezer which will freeze. The freezing may cause the bottles to break.
Highly carbonated drinks can even explode. Never keep lemonade, fruit juice, beer, wine, champagne, etc. in the freezer.

tips

  • High ambient temperatures have a negative effect on energy use. Keep the appliance in a position away from direct sunlight or other sources of heat.
  • Keep ventilation openings free. Clogged openings lead to higher use of energy.
  • Try not to open the lid too often, especially when the weather is wet and hot. Once you open the lid, mind to close it as soon as possible.
  • Turn the thermostat to a lower setting when the circumstances allow it.
  • Before storing fresh cooked food, make sure the food has cooled at least to room temperature.
  • Ice and frost layer increase energy consumption, so clean the appliance as soon as the layer is 3 to 5 mm thick.
  • If the gasket is damaged or if it turns out that the sealing is poor, the energy consumption is substantially higher. To restore efficiency, replace the gasket.
  • Always consider the instructions, otherwise the energy consumption is substantially higher.

To avoid contamination of food, please respect the following instructions

  • Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.
  • Clean regularly surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems.
  • Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the refrigerator, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food.
  • Two-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice-cream and making ice cubes.
  • One-, two- and three-start compartments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.
