SINGER C9920 Computerized Sewing Machine

Preparing the Machine and the Bobbin Thread

1. Connect the power cord to the machine (A). Connect the power plug to the electric outlet (B). Push foot control plug into the jack on the machine (C). Turn on the power switch (D).
2. Remove spool cap from spool pin.
3. Raise the presser foot lifter (A). Press the needle up/down button (B) to set the needle in the up position.
4. Remove the bobbin cover, as well as the empty bobbin from the bobbin case.
5. Place thread and spool cap onto the spool pin.
6. Bring thread into guides (A+B); place thread snuggly in bobbin winding tension disk (C); bring thread into bobbin from the center (D).
7. Place bobbin onto spindle securely (A); push spindle to the right (B).
8. Hold thread end and step on the foot control.
9. Stop to trim thread tail close to the bobbin, then resume winding.
10. Push spindle to left (A); pull up to remove bobbin (B).
11. Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case with the thread running in a counterclockwise direction (arrow).
12. Pull the thread under the notch (A); with a finger held gently on top of the bobbin. Pull thread toward the left and along the inside of spring (B) until it slips into notch (C) making sure that thread does not slip out of notch (A). Pull the thread out about 10 cm (4 inches). Replace the bobbin cover (D).

Threading the Top Thread

1. Raise the presser foot lifter (A). Press the needle up/down button (B) to set the needle in up position.
2. Hold the thread in both hands and pass the thread into the guide (A) from the front. Bring thread backward and pass through the slit (B) from right to left. Bring the thread to the left and pull the thread down toward you along the slit (C).
3. Continue down, around U-turn (A); bring the thread back up into take-up lever (B); bring the thread back down and into guide (C).
4. Lower the presser foot lifter.
5. Lower the threader (A) slowly and draw thread through thread guide (B) and pull toward the right.
6. Lower the threader as far as it will go (A). The threader will turn and the hook pin will go through the needle eye (B). Draw thread into the guide (C).
7. Hold thread loosely and release the lever. The hook will turn and pass thread through the needle’s eye while making a loop.
8. Pull thread loop to the back. Pull the thread out about 10 cm (4 inches) through the needle eye.
9. Raise the presser foot (A). Hold thread loosely and press needle up-down button twice from up position (B). The hand wheel will turn one complete turn. Pull upper thread lightly. The bobbin thread will come up in a loop (C). Pull both upper and bobbin threads about 10 cm(4 inches) toward the back of the presser foot (D).

NOTE: Be sure to use only SINGER Class 15 bobbins in this machine. www.singer.com
