sOmfy RS100 2.5W Solar Panel
ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS
This notice applies to all solar panels 2.5W SOLAR PANEL, 5.8W SOLAR PANEL, 2.5W SOLAR PANEL TAPE and 5.8W SOLAR PANEL TAPE whose variations are available in the current catalog.

PRIOR INFORMATION
APPLICATION DOMAIN
The solar panels 2.5W SOLAR PANEL, 5.8W SOLAR PANEL, 2.5W SOLAR PANEL TAPE and
5.8W SOLAR PANEL TAPE captures the sun’s radiation and transforms this energy
into electrical energy to charge Somfy 9.6V NIMH BATTERY STICK, 9.6V NIMH
batteries NAKED BATTERY, 16.8V NIMH BATTERY STICK or 16.8V NIMH NAKED BATTERY.
Allowing power the RS100 SOLAR io low-consumption motorization. (Consult the
instructions for batteries and motorization for more information).
The solar panel composes, with the battery and the motorization, the
motorization kit RS100 SOLAR io for rolling shutters.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Before installing and using the product, read this manual carefully.This product must be installed by a motorization and automation professional housing, in accordance with Somfy’s instructions and the regulations applicable in the country of commissioning.
- Any use of this product outside the scope described above is prohibited. She would exclude, like any disrespect of the instructions appearing in this notice, any liability and Somfy warranty.
- The installer must inform his customers of the conditions of use and maintenance of this product and must send them the instructions for use and maintenance, after the installation of the product. Any After-Sales Service operation on the product requires the intervention of a professional in motorization and home automation.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Attention
- Never place anything on the solar panel (risk of scratching or breaking), especially when installation.
- Never drop, knock, pierce or immerse the solar panel (risk of damage internal photovoltaic cells).
- Do not affix products that can filter light (e.g. paint) in front of the solar panel photovoltaic cells.
- Do not put into service a product that has suffered a fall, but isolate it and deposit it in the recycling.
INSTALLATION
LOCATION OF THE SOLAR PANEL
- The solar panel must always be installed outdoors, on the roller shutter box, so as to receive the maximum natural light.
- Do not install the solar panel behind glass or The shadow. Leave the photovoltaic cells unobstructed, do not put anything in front.
- The three elements that make up the RS100 SOLAR io kit must be installed on the same side of the rolling wheel.
FIXING THE SOLAR PANEL WITH RIVETS
Attention
Do not damage the cables during installation. Deburr all holes.
- Drill 1 hole with a diameter of 16 mm (A) and 2 holes diameter 5 mm (B) on the front of the safe according to the diagram attached.
- Pass the solar panel wire inside the trunk through the drilled hole (A).
- Protect the wire from the edges of the hole by positioning the protective foam there.
- Secure the solar panel using aluminum POP rivets with a diameter of 4.8 mm and a maximum length of 18.7 mm, in the two drilled holes (B).
FIXING THE SOLAR PANEL WITH THE ADHESIVE TAPE (VERSION “CAP”)
- Do not damage the cables during installation. Deburr all holes.
- The ambient temperature during bonding should be within between 20°C and 38°C.
Attention ! Thoroughly clean the mounting locations onthe roller shutter
box with a degreasing product and wipe the bonding surface.
Respect the safety instructions relating to the use solvents during the
cleaning phases.
- Locate the mounting location on the front of the trunk and drill 1 hole with a diameter of 16 mm (A) according to the diagram attached.
- Pass the solar panel wire inside the trunk through the drilled hole (A).
- Protect the wire from the edges of the hole by positioning the protective foam there.
- Remove the protective paper from the adhesive on the backof the solar panel and apply the solar panel to the trunk with even pressure on the panel solar.
WIRING
- Cables and connectors must be protected from rolling up the rolling shutter.
- Somfy recommends placing the connectors behind the plays and to fix the cables inside the casing of the shutter rolling.
- Connect the solar panel connector (C) to the motorization connector (D).
USE AND MAINTENANCE
After installation and commissioning of the RS100 SOLAR io kit, the Somfy
battery is charged byelectrical energy thanks to the solar panel (see
compatibility with batteries and motorson the engine manual).
The electrical energy transmitted by the solar panel is stored by the Somfy
battery to power the motor.
INTERVIEW
- Take care never to allow snow to accumulate on the solar panel and ensure that its photovoltaic cells are not hidden by snow, leaves, etc.
- Keep the surface of the solar panel clean by cleaning it regularly with clear water, using a soft cloth so as not to scratch it

A problem with the solar panel?
Problems Possible causes /Solutions
- The roller shutter does not work. Wiring is incorrect.
- Check the wiring and modify it if necessary.
- One of the components (motor, battery, control point, …) does not work. See the corresponding notes.
- The battery is recharged several times a year using the external battery charger.
- The solar panel is poorly positioned and does not receive enough natural light.
- Snow, leaves etc. are present on the solar panel. Refer to chapters “2.1. Location of the solar panel”, page 8 and “3.1. Maintenance”, page 9.
- The solar panel is defective or damaged. Replace the solar panel.
- The panel is dirty. Clean the panel.
- Battery life is coming to an end.
- Replace the battery, see Somfy battery manual.
Replacement of a solar panel
The replacement of a solar panel, with an identical model only, must be
carried out by a professional.
We care about our environment. Do not throw your device in the trash usual
household. Take it to an approved collection point for recycling.
- Disconnect the solar panel from the motor.
- Remove the cable from the roller shutter box.
- Remove the rivets from inside the roller shutter box or if the solar panel is glued, take it off from the roller shutter box.
- Remove the solar panel.
- To install the new solar panel, resume the complete installation from of chapter 3.
