SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
This equipment may be used by children of at least 8 years old and persons
with reduced physical, mental or sensory capabilities, and persons unfamiliar
with the equipment, if supervision or instruction is provided on how to use
the equipment safely so that the hazards involved are understood. Children
should not play with the equipment. Children should not carry out unsupervised
cleaning and maintenance of the equipment.
Careless use of the tanner can cause a fire, therefore:
- care should be taken when using the heat gun in areas where flammable materials are present,
- Do not direct the hot air flow at the same place for a long time,
- do not use the heat gun in the presence of an explosive atmosphere,
- be aware that heat can be transferred to combustible materials outside the field of vision,
- after using the tanner, leave it to cool down before storing,
- do not leave the heat gun switched on unattended.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES
- Wear safety goggles when using the heat gun.
- Neither the air inlet opening nor the outlet nozzle opening of the tanner may be obstructed.
- Do not touch the tanning nozzle, while it is in use or just after the tanner has stopped working.
- The handle of the tanner must be kept clean, no traces of oil or grease may be allowed on it.
- When working outdoors, do not use the tanner when it is raining or when the air is very damp.
- Do not set the tanner aside while it is switched on.
- Do not direct the air flow from the tanner for too long at one place.
- From time to time, any accumulated paint residue should be removed from the nozzle of the heat gun to prevent spontaneous combustion
- Before using the heat gun, always make sure that the surface to be heated is not flammable.
- When removing oil-based paints containing lead, work must only be carried out in well-ventilated areas. The vapours from such paints are toxic. Wear a respirator.
- Turpentine, solvents or petrol must not be used as aids when using the heat gun.
- Do not touch heated up components of the hot air tool immediately after use. Burns caused by non-compliance with these instructions are the main danger associated with working with a blowtorch.
- Do not point the working tanner towards any person or animal (e.g. to dry hair). The air temperature of a blowtorch is considerably higher than that of a hair dryer.
Despite the inherently safe design, the use of protective equipment and
additional protective measures, there is always a residual risk of injury
during work.
ATTENTION! The device is designed for indoor operation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVICE
The torch is used for removing paint coatings, heating up stubborn threaded connections in order to make them easier to unscrew and for heating up frozen water pipes, locks, padlocks, etc. The torch can also be used for drying wooden parts before mechanical working, shrinking heat shrink sleeves, soldering and other works requiring heating by a stream of dry, hot air. The torch is designed for amateur use only.
OPERATION OF THE DEVICE
Before starting work, make sure the conditions are right.
Workstation
Make sure that there are no objects in the vicinity that restrict free
movement and prevent comfortable and safe working.
Power source
Ensure that the power supply to which the tanner is to be connected conforms
with the requirements specified on the tanner’s rating plate.
Switch
Make sure that the switch is in the off position. If you insert the plug into
the power socket when the switch is in the on position, a serious accident may
occur as the tanner starts working immediately.
Functional check
When the device is started up, it should work evenly without jams. If any
abnormalities are found, work on the appliance must be discontinued.
Nozzle selection
Depending on the type of work to be carried out, (if necessary) a suitable
additional nozzle can be fitted by sliding it onto the outlet nozzle. Each
additional nozzle can be positioned at any angle from 0° to 360° in the axis
of the torch. The use of additional nozzles facilitates the work, ensuring its
accuracy.
- Surface nozzle – protects e.g. window panes from overheating by redirecting the hot air flow. Particularly useful for removing paint coatings.
- Diffusing nozzle – ensures even distribution of hot air for small areas.
- Reduction nozzle – provides a targeted hot air stream for processing in corners and for soldering.
- Reflector nozzle – designed for soldering, shaping plastic pipes, defrosting water installations and shrinking heat shrink sleeves.
Caution: Do not cover the air inlet openings as this may cause the power
tool to overheat.
Switching on/off
Note: the mains voltage must correspond to the voltage specified on the
tanner’s rating plate. Ensure that the power button is in the 0 position
before connecting to the power supply.
The appliance, connected to the power supply, is switched on by moving the
switch to a position other than 0 (Fig. A)
- Position 0 – off
- Position I – temperature 50°C, stream 350 l/min
- Position II – temperature 50 – 550°C, stream 350 l/min
- Position III – temperature 50 – 550°C, stream 500 l/min
In positions II and III it is possible to control the air temperature.
Increasing or decreasing the temperature is done by turning the knob on the
back of the unit (fig.B).
The first time you switch on the tanner, a small amount of smoke may be
present. This is normal and should disappear after a short time.
Working with the tool
Select the appropriate operating mode depending on the activity.
When changing from position II to position I, wait a while for the unit to
cool down.
The distance of the nozzle from the workpiece must be adjusted according to
the type of workpiece and the type of additional nozzle used. The most
suitable temperature should be determined by testing, so start working in the
low temperature range.
Plastic pipe shaping / de-icing
- Place the reflector nozzle on the outlet nozzle. To avoid constriction, fill the pipe with sand and close it on both sides.
- Heat the pipe evenly by moving it in relation to the heat gun.
- Always heat frozen areas of water pipes from the edge to the centre. Heat plastic pipes and joints between pipe pieces particularly carefully to avoid damage.
Caution! Under no circumstances must the gas pipes be heated!
Paint stripping
- Switch on the tanner and set the correct working temperature.
- Direct a jet of hot air onto the surface to be coated with paint. After a short time the paint will start to blister. Do not allow the paint to burn, as this will make it difficult to remove.
- When removing paint with a paint scraper or spatula, use a gradual up-and-down motion. If the spatula encounters an area where the paint cannot be removed, carefully move the heat gun closer to facilitate further paint removal. Clean the spatula blade from time to time.
- Remove the paint before it has hardened, otherwise it will cling to the spatula blade.
- When work is complete, any remaining paint should be quickly removed from the spatula with a wire brush before it coagulates.
Caution: Do not use plastic spatulas to remove heated paint with a paint
stripper.
Shortly after use, the torch nozzle is hot. Avoid direct contact and wear
suitable protective gloves or wait for it to cool down.
