SAFETY TIPS

  1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS and all the important notices on the appliance before using the pump. Failure to do so may result in damage to this appliance.

  2. DANGER – To avoid possible electrical shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of this product. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the pump to an authorized service facility for service if it is still under warranty or discard the appliance.
A If the pump shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, disconnect the power supply cord and remove pump from water.
B Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
C Do not operate the appliance if it has a damaged electrical cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Never cut the cord.
D The electrical outlet should always be above the level of the appliance. If the plug or outlet does get wet, DO NOT unplug the electrical cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance, then unplug and examine for presence of water in the outlet.

  3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with significantly impaired physical or mental capabilities, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  4. To avoid injury, do not contact moving or hot parts.

  5. CAUTION Always unplug or disconnect the appliance from the outlet before putting on or taking off parts and while the equipment is being installed, maintained or handled. When inserting or removing the pump from the water, pull out the main electrical plug. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use. Never lift the pump by the cord.

  6. CAUTION: THIS IS A PET DRINKING FOUNTAIN PUMP. This pump has been evaluated for use with freshwater only. Do not use this pump for other than its intended use (i.e. don’t use in swimming pools, bathtubs, etc.). The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
    • Do not use the pump in swimming pools or other situations where people are immersed.
    • This pump is suitable for use in water temperatures up to 35ºC.
    • Do not use this pump with inflammable liquids.

  7. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to temperatures below freezing. Shelter the pump from direct sunlight.

  8. Ensure that the appliance is placed on a flat, even surface. Monitor the appliance regularly. Do not leave appliance unattended for extended periods. Do not allow the pump to run dry. The pump must be immersed in water completely. This pump must never operate outside of water.

  9. If an extension cord is necessary, ensure the connection is watertight and dust proof. A cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.

  10. Do not use this unit outdoors. This unit is for indoor use only.

USAGE

Cats can be picky drinkers. Some prefer large water surfaces over vertical streams and vice-versa. The Catit® PIXITM Fountain provides your cat with a continuous indoor source of fresh, clean water and allows different water flow settings to encourage your pet to drink more. Drinking more water helps ensure proper kidney function, helping to prevent crystal formation that can lead to urinary diseases.
The anti-overflow openings in the filter tray will prevent water from rising in case the filter cartridge gets clogged, though the filter should always be replaced if it is visibly dirty, damaged or clogged.
The pump is equipped with a sensor that detects when the water level inside the reservoir is too low. At that point, the fountain will shut down automatically, to prevent the pump from running dry. Once the water reservoir is refilled, the fountain will start running again.
For Catit® PIXITM Fountain #43720 with stainless steel top: To prevent limescale deposits and to keep the stainless steel top in good shape, it’s recommended to clean the stainless steel top in the dishwasher regularly (e.g. once or twice a week, at first signs of limescale deposits)

INSTALLATION

  1. Take the unit out of the packaging. Remove the fountain top and filter tray. Insert the USB cable into the cable gutter in the water reservoir and pull the cable through. Position the pump to the side.

  2. Clean the fountain before use to remove any dirt or debris. Wash the complete unit (excluding the filter) with a sponge. Do not use abrasive cleansers or materials on any part of the unit. Rinse thoroughly.

  3. Attach the pump to the fountain top by pushing it onto the silicone tube, so that the pump LEDs are facing left. Make sure that the pump is level.

  4. Lower the filter tray down onto the reservoir and press the USB cable down into the groove so it is secure.

  5. Take the filter cartridge out of the polybag. Rinse the filter to remove excess dust and soak it completely.

  6. Insert the filter cartridge into the filter tray with pockets facing down. Press down on the cotton part of the filter so it gets tucked underneath the plastic in center.

  7. Lower the fountain top onto the reservoir, indentation facing forward.

  8. Fill the fountain with water. The water level can be seen through the transparent window on the front of the reservoir. Do not overfill the fountain.

  9. (Optional) Insert the spout accessory into the opening on the fountain top to create a water spout for your cat to drink from. Point the spout in the preferred direction. Press down firmly to attach, and pull up to remove.

  10. Attach the power cord to the USB adapter, and plug it into the wall socket. Secure excess power cord with a tie wrap and place it behind the fountain to avoid pet chewing and entanglement.

Pump LED is blinking red/white alter- natively, and water isn’t coming out steadily| The fountain is running out of water, please refill.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING: Always unplug or disconnect the pump from the electrical supply with dry hands before putting on or taking off parts and whenever the pump is being installed, maintained or handled. Wash and rinse fountain with a soft sponge and a non-abrasive cleanser. Rinse thoroughly, ensuring no soapy residue. Remove the filter from the base and rinse. Do not wash the filter with soap. If filter contains excess debris or other foreign matter, replace it (replacement filters sold separately). The filter should be replaced every 3-4 weeks or when there are visible signs that the filter is saturated with foreign matter (debris, food, hair, etc.) or if the water flow is impeded. More frequent changes may be necessary due to indoor environmental and water conditions, as well as multiple pet use.
Should pump appear dirty, open pump and remove impeller cap and impeller (see illustrations on page 33). Remove any debris from the impeller and clean impeller well with running water. Handle impeller with care. If the pump makes noise, clean the pump as described above and top up the water level in the fountain reservoir so the pump is fully submerged. DO NOT ALLOW THE PUMP TO RUN DRY.

  1. Open the pump, remove the impeller cap and impeller.

  2. Rinse each part with water, removing any hairs or debris from the impeller and pump housing, before carefully reassembling.
