ADHESIVE TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Product information
Elastic and versatile mounting adhesive with very high initial adhesion.
The mounting adhesive combines the advantages of a double-sided adhesive with the advantages of a reactive adhesive:
During assembly, the adhesive has a high initial adhesion and a high internal cohesion.
It is therefore often possible to work without temporary shoring, or even to move the glued elements immediately.

PRODUCT:
The mounting adhesive is a high performance MS-Polymer based filler/adhesive (40 to 50kg/ cm2 in shear) which retains good elasticity over time and has a particularly high initial adhesion. Due to its flexibility it allows the bonding of heterogeneous materials, excellent shock and vibration resistance.

Application
The mounting adhesive has an excellent initial adhesion (Tack) and adheres without primer to most substrates such as: aluminium, zinc, galvanised and stainless steel, copper, natural stone, concrete, brick, expanded or compact PVC sheets, etc.
Especially suitable for the installation of expanded or compact PVC sheets; safety glass (e.g. bank glass); cable ducts, mirrors. Suitable for the structural bonding of panels and elements in the construction industry, such as facade cladding, ceilings, etc. In many cases, except in the case of very high stresses, initial shoring is not necessary.
The mounting adhesive has excellent adhesion to treated wood, plaster, stone, concrete, grease-free glass, enamel, metals, painted or untreated surfaces and various plastics (preliminary tests recommended).

Examples of vertical or horizontal bonding:

  • Industrial bodywork: gluing of corner angles, omega, sandwich panels, etc. – Composite/Thermoforming: gluing of reinforcements, inserts.
  • Naval: interior fittings, partitions, composite parts, etc.
  • Signage and POS: all fixings where an immediate hold is required – Acoustic insulation panels
  • Thermal insulation materials (such as PUR, PIR, PS)
  • Joinery and beams in construction / building
  • Wood and plastic profiles, ornaments, joints
  • Sills, window sills, skirting boards and joint covers
  • Roof and facade construction elements.

Features

  • Bonding, mounting
  • Very high initial adhesion
  • Good adhesion to most materials
  • Even on damp substrates
  • Contains no solvents or isocyanates
  • Very strong
  • Permanently elastic
  • Does not corrode metals
  • Can be used indoors and outdoors
  • Very good resistance to UV radiation and weathering

The mounting adhesive can be painted immediately after installation. Best results are achieved when working “wet on wet”. After cleaning, the joints can be painted over at any time. The mounting adhesive can be painted with most water- and solvent-based paints. However, prior compatibility tests are recommended. When using alkyd resin paints, the drying time can be significantly extended.

Implementation
Preparation: The surfaces must be clean, dry, dust- and grease-free. Slightly damp substrates are permitted. If necessary, degrease with IPA alcohol or ethanol. It is advisable to test the adhesion, the user must ensure that the product used is suitable for its purpose. Contact our technical department for further information.
Application: Apply the mounting adhesive by extruding a bead onto the substrate or element to be bonded. The beads should be applied in vertical strips. The element to be bonded can be adjusted for 10 minutes. For more information on the distance between the beads, see “Amount of adhesive”. We recommend a thickness of 3.2 mm between the two sides so that the adhesive can withstand dimensional variations (this is important for outdoor use or when there is a lot of moisture). To facilitate this gap, 3.2 mm thick wedges or double-sided adhesive can be used.
In case the adhesive layer has to withstand small deformations between building components, a thinner adhesive layer (minimum 1.5 mm) is sufficient (e.g. for indoor applications).
Open time: Assemble the materials as quickly as possible (always within 10 minutes) depending on temperature and relative humidity. Tighten or tap lightly with a mallet.
Clean up: If necessary, smooth out any excess adhesive on the edges with a spatula.
Remove fresh residues with wipes. Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically afterwards.

Drying time and adhesion
The mounting adhesive cures by reaction with the humidity of the air and possibly of the substrates and then forms a permanent elastic and very strong bond. 4mm per 24h at 20C° and 60% RH Initial
The initial internal adhesion is such that bonding without temporary support is possible: – Internal (direct) adhesion > 0.0019 N/mm2.

  • Adhesion per m2 of adhesive surface > 1900 N (>190 kg)
  • After one hour the adhesion has tripled:
  • Internal adhesion (after 60 min > 0.0057 N/mm2)
  • Adhesion per m2 adhesive surface > 5700 N (> 570 kg)

After polymerisation

The assembly adhesive polymerises under the influence of moisture until an elastic, high-strength adhesive joint is formed. The maximum tensile strength is >3.2 N/mm2 (ISO-37), the shear strength is 3-5 N/mm2, depending on the joint configuration. See chapter “Technical data”.

Adhesive quantity
The mounting adhesive is applied in beads or dots. A triangular bead with a base of 9 mm and a height of 9 mm (± 40 mm2 cross-section) gives an adhesive width of about 13 mm and a thickness of 3 mm on smooth materials. On uneven surfaces a minimum adhesive thickness of 3 mm will give an adhesive width of ± 10 mm. With an adhesive thickness of 1.5 mm the widths are 26 and ± 20 mm respectively. Apply beads in parallel (so that the air humidity between the beads can circulate and polymerise the adhesive). By extruding a standard triangular bead of 9 mm base and height and after pressing in adhesive thicknesses of 1.5 and 3 mm, the following ratio between bead distance and element weight can be determined. This is the case for flat adhesive surfaces. It is recommended that tests are carried out beforehand. When gluing large wall or facade panels, take into account the peeling force (curvature of the panels) that may occur.

Immediate adhesion after application
Immediate centre-to-centre distance (per m2) after 60 min (per m2)
Adhesive thickness 1.5 mm (on wet substrates – width after pressing ± 26 mm.) Please note when determining the beads that :

Interval| % of adhesive per m2| Immediate| After 60 minutes
---|---|---|---
10cm| (adhesive surface 26%)| 470 N| 47,0 kg| 1410 N| 141,0 kg
20cm| (adhesive surface 13%)| 240 N| 24,0 kg| 720 N| 72,0 kg
30cm| (adhesive surface 9%)| 166 N| 16,6 kg| 500 N| 50,0 kg
40cm| (adhesive surface 6,5%)| 120 N| 12,0 kg| 360 N| 36,0 kg

  • the value of the internal cohesive forces of the elements to be bonded is not exceeded (e.g. mineral wool ceiling tiles). If such materials are used, it is advisable to apply as large an area of adhesive as possible.
  • the adhesive beads should be evenly spaced on the element to be bonded.

Our company guarantees its products against the hidden defects which existed on the date on which products are delivered, in accordance with the law, under the terms set forth hereinafter.
Our guarantee only applies to products which have lawfully become the property of the purchaser. It only applies to products which were manufactured in full by our company. Our guarantee covers hidden defects. Since our customers are trade professionals, a hidden defect is defined as an unacceptable manufacturing defect affecting a product which renders the latter unfit for the intended use thereof which is not liable to be detected by the purchaser before it is used. “Unfit for the intended use thereof” means that the defect prevents the piece of equipment from operating. Thus, the design of the product is not covered by the hidden defects guarantee — our customers are deemed to have received all of the technical information regarding our products. We do not guarantee against malfunctions or damage or wear and tear arising out of adaptations or fitting of our products which are special or unusual or usual. Likewise, allegations regarding occasional or variable malfunctions, a lack of comfort, unhappiness regarding the results obtained, aesthetic defects, in particular, are not covered by the guarantee against hidden defects. A defect is not hidden if, despite the fact that the purchaser was not aware of it in good faith, it could have been discovered by carrying out basic verifications.
Our guarantee is limited to the replacement or repair of defective parts. It does not give rise to compensation.
6.3. Contractual guarantee:
A specific contractual guarantee can be provided by our company for such equipment. In such case it shall be strictly limited to the stipulations set forth by us.

6.4. Terms covering the application of guarantees:
Any and all requests for coverage in respect of the guarantee must be made using our After-Sales Service Return Request Form. All claims must be made by the Customer to the Supplier’s After-Sales Service Department, given that no direct claims by the user shall be taken into account. The guarantee request shall be taken into account upon production of a dated purchase receipt. It is the responsibility of the purchaser who alleges a defect, regardless of the defect in question, to provide proof of the existence and  of the nature thereof. An application is for-warded by the purchaser to our staff. Likewise, any and all guarantee requests shall have to be accompanied by evidence that it  does not fall under one of the said exclusion cases. The purchaser must do his or her utmost to enable said defects to be officially recorded and remedied. He or she must  further-more absolutely abstain from replacing the products or have said replacement carried out by a third party, failing which guarantee coverage shall not be provided.
The guarantee coverage is limited to merely exchanging or repairing the defective part. If it proves indispensable, after examination by the Supplier’s Technical Staff, replace ment of the appliance in full shall be carried out as a temporary measure. Said replacement measure, taken as a temporary measure, under no circumstances howsoever con stitutes an acknowledgment of responsibility on our part. In the event of replacement of the defective part or of the appliance as a whole, transport, removal and fitting costs  are excluded from the guarantee. In the event of immediate replacement as a temporary measure, the defective equipment shall have to reach our staff within fifteen calendar  days of the replacement thereof. Failing which, the replaced equipment shall be invoiced.
All returns shall be carried out in suitable packaging, with the equipment properly wedged. The cost of the return shall be borne by the customer. No returns of parts shall be accepted unless approved beforehand by our After- Sales Service Department. The customer shall receive an assessment carried out by our After-Sales Service Department in  the event that the latter concludes that the return was unjustified.
The guarantee coverage excludes any and all compensation in respect of damages. The installer must be insured against any eventual damage.
Moreover, our guarantee automatically ceases to apply when our customer has not notified us of the alleged defect within a timeframe of thirty full days from the date of the facts cited as justifying the claim for guarantee coverage.
The onus is on the customer to provide evidence of the dates referred to in the claim.

6.5. Specific exclusion in respect of apparent defects:
Defects and damage to the products delivered consecutive upon circumstances relating to carriage, to storage and/or to preservation conditions at the customer’s premises, in particular in the event of an accident of any type howsoever, shall not give rise to an entitlement under the guarantee provided by our company.
The guarantee does not apply to equipment already resold by our purchaser.

6.6. General exclusions in respect of the all the guarantees:
All guarantees are invalid as soon as our products have been used under usage or performance circumstances for which they were not intended or which do not constitute normal usage.
The guarantees do not apply if the following conditions have not been complied with, to whit notably:

  • Storage away from sources of humidity and the effects of bad weather.
  • Set-up and installation in accordance with best practice.
  • Utilisation with a 230V domestic power supply.
  • Utilisation compliant with the Supplier’s instructions for installation and use.

The guarantees do not apply to any eventual damage which is the consequence of over-voltage or other faults which occur in power supply and distribution circuits.
The guarantees apply to corrosion defects only if the appliances are used in accordance with the usual circumstances which apply in a single housing unit or in the tertiary sector; in particular they must not be:
– Subject to intensive and continuous ambient humidity (from swimming pools, etc.); – Cleaned using acidic substances which are liable to affect their properties.
The development of a shade of colour over time is a natural phenomenon and cannot give rise to a guarantee claim. The guarantees do not come into play if the acquirer cannot provide evidence of full payment for supplies and/or if the installation and usage instructions provided by the vendor were not complied with, and less specifically in the event that the damage caused arose out of the actions of the purchaser or of the servants thereof, out of force majeure circumstances or out of unforeseen circumstances. The guarantees do not apply in the event of a defect originating either in the components supplied by the purchaser and in the event of a design having been required by the purchaser, without the vendor having taken part in said end design process, or if the product did not meet aims determined by the customer of which the vendor was not notified. All points not mentioned in writing in the order are not guaranteed. All damage caused by normal wear and tear is also excluded from the guarantee.
The guarantees only apply to products produced in production runs, to the exclusion of prototypes and samples.

6.8. Guarantee period:
The guarantee period for missing parts and patent defects varies depending on the nature of the defect in question and on the type of equipment in question:
– As regards electric radiators, electric and dual-fuel towel rails and accessories: a guarantee lasting 30 months from delivery of the appliance up to a maximum of 36 months after its manufacturing date in the case of a non- compliance defect ;
– As regards spare parts: 2 years from the exchange.
The guarantee for hidden defects is provided for duration of 30 months from delivery. The spare parts vital for the use of the machine or equivalent spare parts continue to be available for five years from the date of manufacture of the appliance.
Work carried out under the guarantee does not have the effect of extending the duration of the guarantee.
