FAQs
What is the difference between geeni prisma bulbs and geeni prisma plus bulbs?
I believe the “Plus” series are brighter colors and white can be tuned.
Will these bulbs wok in a standard glass covered ceiling fixture?
They are LED so there should be no issues. LED bulbs have a heatsync and don’t get hot as compared to incandescent bulbs.
Can this be use as a grow light for plants?
No. Grow lights are dramatically brighter and more expensive than a standard bulb.
my bulb won’t turn red. I have reset it several times. do I need a new bulb?
Yes, I’ve had no color issues.
Are the colors on these bulbs brighter than the Prisma 1050s? They’re pretty dark.
The plus series are supposed to be brighter.
How do I set these to turn on a certain time then turn off a certain time?
There is an application you download to a device. It allows you to control the bulbs color, tone and brightness as well as set a schedule.
Do these work as ceiling fan lights for a bedroom?
As long as your celling fan accepts standard size bulbs and not the candelabra size bulbs.
Can you choose the color and brightness when you set a timer or schedule the light to come on? For example, 5% red at 8:00pm and 15% green at 8:00am?
You can do that if you connect the Geeni skill to Alexa. You would set routines and have them run at the given time with the bulb settings. The Geeni app has automation functions, but I haven’t really done much with that because Alexa typically works without issues (unless Amazon’s cloud services go down) but that’s out of your hands, and it usually doesn’t last long most of the time. Google assistant might work, but their color settings are wonky, so I’d either use Alexa, or the Geeni app.
Does it have a black light option in the colors?
Of course not. None of the smart bulbs have this color option. This is a specialized light spectrum.
Are the colors on these bulbs brighter than the Prisma 1050s? They’re pretty dark.
I couldn’t speak for the Prisma’s but I have had no issue regarding brightness with my Geeni bulb
is this an e26 or e27?
E26.
Do these work with Apple HomeKit?
Geeni products are NOT compatible with HomeKit. If you look up the FAQs on MERKURY’s site about Geeni products. They state not Siri compatible. Personally, having used all 3 smart platforms, Google, Alexa, and Siri: If you want the most compatibility I would recommend Google home, or Alexa over Siri. Unless Apple has changed things, it costs more to get HomeKit certified, and not as many companies and products have the certification.
Do these “Prisma Plus” bulbs fix the darkness issue found in the “Prisma 800” bulbs when changing to colors?
I haven’t used a Prisma 800 but colors do come out a bit dim on this one.
Some photos in description show porch light lit. Are they okay in outdoor environment (no direct contact with rain or snow)?
I use it indoors but I would assume it would be fine in a covered environment.
Are these bright enough for reading?
Yes. You can change the brightness as well.
