Display/TV Placement

Before installing the Gabor Low-Profile Fixed Wall Mount, you will need to determine the placement of your display and identify surrounding support structures for attachment.

The optimal height to position a display is at the viewer’s eye level. This can be accomplished in two ways:

  1. Measure the distance from the seating area to the viewing area. Ideally, the center of the display (where the diagonals meet) should be as close as possible to eye level.
  2. Cut a piece of sturdy cardboard that’s approximately the same size as your display. Determine a comfortable level for the display, and mark the location with a pencil.GABOR-Low-Profile-Fixed-Wall-Mount-for-Flat-Panel-Screens-fig- \(2\)

Attaching the Display/TV Brackets

Selecting the Right VESA Mounting Hardware for Your Display
A variety of screws are included to fit VESA standards on the backs of most displays. Select the M4, M5, M6 or M8, screws and washers that best fit your display. Hand-thread the screws to determine the correct diameter.

Note: Attach the display brackets with the drawstring latches facing inward, towards each other.

If the screw is too short, it may not hold the display. If it’s too long, it may damage the display.

If Your TV Has a Flat Back:
Install the bracket directly to your TV, using only the screws and washers provided.

If Your TV Has a Curved Back or Recessed Mounting:
Install the spacers between the bracket and your TV. Then fasten with the screws and washers until secure.

Attaching the Wall Bracket to Wooden Studs

Wood studs run vertically inside the wall, 16 inches apart, behind the drywall or plaster. The wall bracket must be mounted to the wood studs, or the bracket could fall out and damage your display or cause personal harm. Three anchor screws are included for use with the FM-LPX, but for the FM-LPM and FM-LPL you will need only two anchor screws. If you want to use a third anchor screw with these models, you will need to use one of the included concrete anchors to secure it into the drywall.GABOR-Low-Profile-Fixed-Wall-Mount-for-Flat-

  1. Use a stud finder to locate the edges of the wooden studs, and mark the center of each stud.
  2. Place the wall bracket up to the marked locations, and use a pencil to mark drilling holes for the anchor screws. Use the included bubble level to make sure the bracket is level before drilling.
  3. Use a 3 mm wood drill bit to predrill the marked holes 1.2 in. (30 mm) deep, and then clean out the debris from the holes.
  4. Attach the bracket to the wall by inserting the anchor screws through the washers and the wall bracket’s mounting holes, and screw them into the predrilled support holes until secure. Use the wrench to further tighten the anchor screws, but do not overtighten. Use the included bubble level to make sure the bracket is level.

Attaching the Wall Bracket to the Concrete

Warning!
Make sure the concrete wall is solid and at least 8 inches (20 cm) thick. If the concrete exhibits cracks or other defects, this may result in failure of the concrete anchors and cause serious personal injury and damage to your display.

  1. Place the wall bracket up to the location marked for your display, and use a pencil to mark three drilling holes for the concrete anchors. Use the included bubble level to make sure the bracket is level before drilling.
  2. Use a 10 mm concrete drill bit to predrill the holes 2.4 inches (60 mm) deep, and then clean out the debris from the holes.
  3. Insert the concrete anchors, and use a hammer to tap the anchors into the concrete.
  4. Attach the bracket to the wall by inserting the anchor screws through the washers and the wall bracket’s mounting holes and screw them into the anchors until secure. Use the wrench to further tighten the anchor screws, but do not overtighten. Use the included bubble level to make sure the bracket is level.
