SAFETY
WARNING! ALWAYS USE LOAD RATED STANDS TO SUPPORT LIFTED LOADS
- Read, study and understand all warnings and operating instructions prior to use. The user shall work in accordance with this manual.
- DANGER! Use the jack for lifting and lowering only.
- DANGER! DO NOT place any part of the body beneath the lifted load unless the load is fully supported by rated axle stands.
- DANGER! DO NOT place any part of the body beneath the load during lifting or lowering.
- DO NOT exceed the rated capacity of the jack, load or maximum stroke.
- DO NOT adjust the overload valve, modify or use the jack for any purpose other than for which it is designed (lifting and lowering mechanical devices).
- DO NOT leave elevated loads unattended, unless safe from others in a garage or workshop.
- DO NOT modify the jack.
- The operator must watch the jack and the load during all movements.
- Ensure the jacking area is solid and level. Increase the jacking area with a solid flat plate (steel) if jacking on tarmacadam or grass.
- Keep others away from the work area.
- Lift only on areas of the vehicle specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Refer to manufacturer’s instructions on proper lifting.
- Centre load on saddle prior to lifting.
- Some vehicles require an adapter to properly engage the frame for lifting.
- Use only attachments, restraints or adaptors supplied by the manufacturer.
- DO NOT move or dolly the the vehicle whilst on the jack.
- Ensure the jacking area is clutter free and that there is adequate lighting.
- WARNING! Remember, it is very dangerous to go under a vehicle supported by a jack even if additional supports are used.
- DO NOT go under a vehicle unless it is supported by adequately rated axle stands. NOTE: Seek advice before jacking caravans or trailers.
- WARNING! The warnings, cautions and instructions in this manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations
- that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be applied by the operator.
- WARNING! Failure to heed these warnings may result in personal injury and/or property damage.

OPERATION
Please remember a jack is a lifting and lowering device and is not designed to
support a load. Never get underneath a vehicle supported only by a jack; your
life is at risk. We stock a comprehensive range of axle stands, please see
relevant catalogue section for full details. The jack is not limited to
vehicle use only , with many applications in the engineering and construction
industries. The owner and/or operator is responsible for providing
maintenance, maintaining decals or warning labels whilst in use,
Maintaining the unit in good working order. If the owner and/or operator is
not fluent in English, the product warnings and instructions shall be read in
the operator’s native language by the purchaser/owner or his deputy. Make sure
operator understands its contents. Safety information shall be emphasised and
understood prior to usage. The jack shall be inspected as per the instruction
manual prior to use. It is the owner ’s and/or the operator’s responsibility
to study all warnings, operating and maintenance instructions contained on the
product label and instruction manual prior to operation of this unit. Owners
and operators must retain this manual for future reference.
WARNING! Before use refer to section 1. SAFETY PURGING THE JACK
PURGING THE JACK
- Purge the hydraulic system in order to eliminate any air that may have accumulated in transit or whilst stored:
- Turn release valve anticlockwise one full turn to open.
- Pump handle eight full strokes.
- Turn release valve clockwise to close valve.
- Pump handle until the ram reaches maximum height and continue to pump several times to remove trapped air in the ram. Carefully and slowly move top of oil filler plug aside to release trapped air.
- Turn release valve anticlockwise one full turn and lower ram to its lowest position. Use force if necessary.
- Turn release valve clockwise to closed position and check for proper pump action. It may be necessary to perform the above more than once to ensure the air is totally evacuated.
LIFTING THE LOAD
- Ensure the jack and vehicle are on a hard level surface.
- Apply vehicle parking brake and chock the wheels.
- Consult the vehicle owners manual to ascertain the location of jacking points and position jack beneath prescribed lifting point. Turn the release valve clockwise to the closed position. DO NOT overtighten.
- To raise the vehicle to the desired height, place the handle into the socket and pump up and down.
- Place axle stands beneath the vehicle at locations recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. DO NOT get under the vehicle without it being supported by axle stands.
- Jacks are NOT designed to maintain heavy loads for long periods of time. DO NOT attempt to put axle stands simultaneously under both ends of the vehicle or under one side of the vehicle.
- Turn release valve SLOWLY anticlockwise to lower the load onto jack stands.
LOWERING THE LOAD
- Turn the release valve clockwise to the closed position.
- Pump the handle to lift the vehicle off the axle stands.
- Remove the axle stands. DO NOT get under the vehicle or let anyone else under the vehicle whilst it is being lowered.
- Turn the release valve SLOWLY anticlockwise to lower the vehicle to the ground.
MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT! REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE JACK TO BE CARRIED OUT BY FULLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY
WARNING! DO NOT use brake fluid, or any fluid other than Sealey hydraulic jack fluid. Use of non preferred jack oil may cause damage and invalidate the warranty.
INSPECTION
- The product must be maintained in accordance with these instructions. No alterations must be made to the product.
- Before use a visual inspection should be made for abnormal conditions such as cracked welds, damage, bent, worn loose or missing parts or hydraulic leaks.
- Inspection shall be performed in accordance with this manual.
- The product shall be inspected immediately if the jack is believed to have been subject to abnormal load or shock.
- It is recommended that inspection should carried out by properly qualified personnel.
MAINTENANCE
- Monthly maintenance is recommended. Lubrication is critical to jacks as they support heavy loads. Any restriction due to dirt, rust, etc. can cause either slow movement or cause extremely rapid jerks, damaging the internal components. The following steps are designed to keep the jack well lubricated.
- Lubricate the ram, linkages, saddle and pump mechanism with light oil.
- Visually inspect for cracked welds, bent, loose or missing parts or hydraulic oil leaks.
- If jack is subjected to abnormal loads or shock, remove from service and have it examined by an authorised repair specialist. 5.2.1.4. Check all surfaces and maintain all labels and warnings.
- Check and maintain the ram oil level.
- Check ram every 3 months for any sign of rust or corrosion. Clean as needed and wipe with an oily cloth. When not in use always
- DO NOT use brake or transmission fluids or regular motor oil as they will damage the seals. Always use Sealey hydraulic jack fluid. Use of non preferred jack oil may cause damage and invalidate the warranty.
CHECK OIL LEVEL
- Turn release valve counterclockwise to allow ram to fully retract. It may be necessary to apply force to the saddle to lower it. With the jack in a level position, remove the oil
- filler plug. Stand the jack in a vertical position with the handle socket down. The oil should be level with the bottom of the filler hole. If not top it up. DO NOT overfill.
- Always fill with new, clean hydraulic oil.
- Replace the oil filler plug.
- Check jack operation.
- Purge air from the system as required, refer to section 4.3.N
