Latest Code Released

Dell Unity Operating Environment (“Unity OE”) Minor Release 5.3.1 is the latest release for all Dell Unity (“Unity”) products. It was released on Oct 12, 2023. Please see the Release Notes for a full list of resolved issues. This OE version includes the latest drive firmware bundle, V20. Unity OE and drive firmware are customer upgradable.

Target Code

Dell Technologies has established Target Code for each product to ensure stable and reliable environments. Target Code is a specific code release that has successfully met specific criteria that enables it to be a highly trusted and recommended code release. Dell Technologies encourages customers to upgrade to a Target Code version to ensure a stable and reliable environment. If a customer requires features or enhancements that are provided by a newer version, the customer should upgrade to that version. The current Target version for all Unity models is 5.3.1.

Recommended Drive Firmware Bundle

The latest version of the drive firmware bundle is V20. Customers are advised to regularly update their drive firmware using the latest drive firmware bundle. Drive firmware is customer upgradable using the Drive Firmware upgrade wizard in Unisphere. You will see a Unisphere alert when new firmware is available for your specific drives. The wizard will download and install the latest firmware.
You can read the drive Firmware release notes here: 000021322

Connectivity

Your Action may be Required to Keep your Unity Array Connected as older versions are Retired!
Unity Connectivity: Please be aware of recent End of Service Life (EOSL) date for Secure Remote Services (SRS) gateways.

  • Centralized SRS Gateway: Effective June 15, 2023, all versions of Secure Remote Services (SRS) Gateway have reached end of service life and has been replaced with Secure Connect Gateway (SCG). All customers should upgrade to SCG. Upon reaching end of service life, support for SRS (including remediation and mitigation of security vulnerabilities) has now been discontinued.

    • See KB 000188341 for the SRS update path, as multiple updates may be required to reach version 3.52 and then upgrade to SCG, depending on the current version.
    • This video shows how to upgrade from SRS 3.52 to SCG.
See KB 000022755 for information on how to upgrade your Unity OE.
  • Remote Secure Credential (RSC) is included starting in Unity OE 5.3.x. RSC provides a one-time passcode for Dell Authorized Service Engineers to remotely log in to Dell ISG Products.
RSC is an Opt-In only capability. Given the significant benefit of having RSC enabled Dell encourages customers to Opt-In.

  • uDoctor Package Available (KB 0000199799): If your Unity array is at Unity OE 5.3.0 and you are connected to Dell via Support Assist, you may have seen a notification of an available uDoctor package. When this package is installed at your direction, it will address the two issues described in KB 216765 and 216860.

  • Direct Connect from Unity: Upgrade to Unity OE 5.3.0 or higher before Dec. 31, 2024, to avoid disconnection.
