Product Usage Instructions
Setting up the keyboard:
WARNING: Before setting up the keyboard, read the safety information that shipped with the keyboard and tablet. For more information, visit www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance.
- Open the hinge on the keyboard to a fully open angle.
- Insert the tablet into the compartment adjacent to the hinge, ensuring that the alignment pegs on the keyboard align with the corresponding ports on the bottom side of the tablet until they firmly lock into position.
- Slide the tablet lock upwards into the lock position that is optional.
Removing the tablet:
- If the tablet lock is currently in the locked position, slide it downward to unlock it.
- Simultaneously press and slide both tablet release sliders inward while lifting the tablet out of the hinge.

Rugged Control Center is an application on the Latitude 7030 Rugged Extreme
Tablet that allows you to customize keyboard shortcuts and configure the
keyboard backlight.
NOTE: If you cannot find the Rugged Control Center on the tablet, utilize the
search function within the operating system to search for Rugged Control

Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts
You can customize the following key combinations on your keyboard as shortcuts for various actions: Fn + Q, Fn + W, Fn + E, Fn + T, Fn + A, Fn + D, Fn + F, and Fn + G.You can select actions such as enabling selected tools or modes, opening selected applications, designated websites, system menus, or running a saved keyboard macro. To customize any of the above-mentioned key combinations:
- Launch Rugged Control Center.
- Tap or click PROGRAM.
- Tap or click on the Keyboard Shortcuts option.
- Use the following methods to customize a key combination:
- Tap or click the drop-down menu, and select the required option.
- Go to FEATURE LIST, and drag and drop the required option to the keyboard shortcut section.
- Tap or click SAVE.
Creating Keyboard Macros
A keyboard macro is a sequence of keystrokes that can be saved and then repeated on command through a keyboard shortcut. To save a keyboard macro:
- Dock your tablet onto the keyboard.
- Follow the steps in the Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts section to enter the Keyboard Shortcuts menu.
- Navigate to the KEYBOARD MACROS section within the FEATURE LIST sub-menu, and then tap or click ADD KEYBOARD MACRO.
- Tap or click RECORD.
- Enter the keyboard combination and click Stop.
- Enter the keyboard macro name in the Enter Macro Name field.
- Tap or click ADD
Once you have created the macro, you can set it as a keyboard shortcut by following the steps in the Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts section.
Configuring the keyboard backlight
To configure the keyboard backlight:
- Launch Rugged Control Center.
- Tap or click SETTINGS
- Tap or click KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT.
The following options are available to configure the keyboard backlight :
- BACKLIGHT COLORS Allows you to select up to six colors for the keyboard backlight to switch through when you press the Fn + C.
- Select the checkbox next to each color to toggle between the colors.
- Tap or click to create a custom color for the keyboard backlight.
- KEYBOARD BRIGHTNESS Allows you to select the brightness level of the keyboard backlight.
- TIME OUT Allows you to select the amount of idle time before the keyboard backlight automatically turns off based on type of the power supply.
