Q: Can the backup lights be turned on manually?
A: Yes, the controllers have a manual override feature allowing you to turn on the backup lights without the vehicle in reverse.
Q: How do I operate the Auxiliary Output Option?
A: Press the reverse-override button two times within 1 second while in Park, High, or Low gear to turn ON the auxiliary output. Repeat the step to turn it OFF. The output will turn off automatically when the ECU powers off.

Installation Instruction
Step 1: Remove Plastics
- Remove seat.
Note: If installing on Outlander Max remove small plastic extension rear of main side panel.
Step 2: Mount Controller, Relay, & Fuse
- Zip tie controller to OEM wiring harness.
- Insert (Blue) controller signal wire into relay socket.
- Zip tie relays and fuse to rest of wiring harness.
Step 3: Connect Diagnostic Connector & Power Leads
- Remove diagnostic connector cover and plug connector into reverse light wiring harness.
- Connect positive lead to positive terminal of battery and negative lead to negative terminal.
Step 4: Mount Light
- Attach the light to its bracket. Be sure to slide the bolt through the bracket before attaching to light. Attach light bracket to mounting bracket.
- Remove the two preexisting lower bolts and refasten with light bracket attached.
Step 5: Route Power to Light
- Run wire and connector along factory wiring harness back to reverse light, while zip-tying the wire as needed.
- Plug in the reverse light.
Step 6: Mount Lightbar
Note: This is just one example of an accessory to hook the auxiliary power option to
- Attach bar clamps to front bar.
- Attach light bar to bar clamps and tighten.
Step 7: Route Power to Lightbar
- Run wire from relays to the front of the vehicle. Route underneath front rack and hood.
- Plug in lightbar.
Step 8: Reinstall Plastics
Factory Can-Am Diagnostic Connector
The Orange wire from Sam’s Controller needs to match the Orange/Green wire on
the factory Can-Am diagnostic connector
Operation of Reverse Lights
Our controllers have been programmed with a manual override feature. Back-up lights may be turned on without the vehicle in reverse.
Fully Automatic When Shifted to Reverse
No programming needed
Manual Override Function
- Shift the vehicle into neutral.
- Press reverse-override button once. The reverse light will turn on and remain on.
- To turn the light off repeat this procedure.
Operation of Auxiliary Output Option
Perfect for operating forward facing LED Lights, Rock Lights, or any 12v
accessory without needing to install an additional switch. Auxiliary output is
turned ON by pressing the reverse-override button two times within 1 second
while in Park, High, or Low gear; repeat the step to turn OFF. Auxiliary
output will turn off automatically when the ECU powers off.
Note: If the ignition is turned off while the vehicle is in reverse, or the manual override function is enabled, the lights will remain ON until the ECU enters sleep mode (approximately 30 seconds – 2 minutes depending on vehicle and ECU type).
