RAB Passive Infrared and Microwave Occupancy Sensor

Specifications

  • Product Type: Occupancy Sensor
  • Technologies: Passive Infrared (PIR), Microwave (MVS)
  • Applications: Warehouse, Gym, Parking Garage, Stairway,Restroom, Entryway
  • Features: Daylight Harvesting, Various Sensor Types for Different Spaces

Product Information

Passive Infrared (PIR)

Passive Infrared sensors are ideal for rectangular-shaped areas and smaller/compact spaces. They are ambient temperature dependent and require a direct line of sight.

  • Slotted Field: Detects small movement harder with increased distance from the sensor.
  • Continuous Field: Detects small movement consistently regardless of sensor distance.

Microwave (MVS)
Microwave sensors are perfect for larger areas and fixtures with reflectors, refractors, and drop lenses. They can detect through walls and obstacles, making them suitable for abnormally shaped spaces.

Daylight Harvesting
RAB’s daylight harvesters help reduce utility bills by dimming or shutting off electric lighting when sufficient natural light is available.

Usage Instructions

Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensor

  1. Choose the appropriate PIR sensor based on the size and shape of the area to be monitored.
  2. Ensure the sensor has a direct line of sight to the desired detection area.
  3. Adjust the sensor sensitivity and range settings as needed for optimal performance.
  4. Avoid using drop lenses or refractors that may obstruct the sensor’s view.

Microwave (MVS) Sensor

  1. Select the suitable MVS sensor considering the area size and presence of obstacles.
  2. Position the sensor to ensure coverage of the entire space, including through walls if necessary.
  3. Test the sensor functionality after installation to confirm proper detection capabilities.

Daylight Harvesting Feature

  1. Activate the daylight harvesting feature on compatible sensors to optimize energy savings.
  2. Adjust the light dimming or shut-off settings according to the desired lighting levels in response to natural light availability.

Occupancy sensing

RAB carries both microwave (MVS) and passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensors, to make smart choices a breeze. Regardless of your application, your detection needs or the size of your space… we’ve got it covered.

Passive Infrared (PIR)

  • 120° Coverage
  • Slotted field
  • Small movement is harder to detect as the distance from the sensor increases
  • Ambient temperature dependent
  • Requires direct line of sight, can’t detect around corners
  • Ideal for rectangular shaped areas
  • Better suited for smaller/compact areas

Microwave (MVS)

  • 120° Coverage
  • Continuous field
  • Small movement detection is the same regardless of the sensor distance
  • Ambient temperature independent
  • Detects through walls/obstacles and around corners
  • Ideal for abnormally shaped areas
  • Better suited for larger areas and fixtures with, reflectors, refractors and drop lenses

Daylight harvesting

Cut your utility bill with RAB’s daylight harvesters. Sensors with this feature will dim or shut off electric lighting when there is sufficient sunlight available to achieve your desired lighting level.
