OPUS Integrity Dual-2024 Countertop Water Purifier User Guide
The OPUS Integrity Dual-2024 is a point-of-use countertop drinking water system for all municipal water supplies that do not add fluoride, as this system is not designed to remove fluoride.
The OPUS Integrity Dual-2024 includes two filtration components and four filtration stages, with up to 99.5% removal rate of chlorine, chloramines, lead, mercury, heavy metals, and VOCs, while maintaining desired pH (alkalinity) and dissolved minerals.
This system features two types of carbon (activated coconut carbon block and catalytic coconut shell carbon block) to produce great-tasting, mineral-rich, highly purified water.
The OPUS Integrity Dual-2024 is far superior to any of the popular “Brita” types of filters, which have no micron rating and are ineffective at removing the majority of contaminants and pathogens in water. In addition, since those filters only use activated carbon, they are ineffective at removing chloramines.
The Integrity Dual-2024 is rated for purifying up to 5 gallons of water per day, or 1,825 gallons per year, with normal use. Its average output speed is 2 litres per minute.
Included Components:
- Dual filter countertop unit for installation using a diverter valve that connects to the existing kitchen or bathroom faucet, if it comes equipped with a standard screw-on aerator. (This unit will not work with faucets that have pull out sprayers, however.)
- Stage 1 & 2: 5 micron coconut carbon block filter that removes sediment 5 microns and larger, adsorbs hlorine and a wide variety of contaminants, and improves taste and removes odors. This filter is installed in the first vertical filter container (sump), and is labeled Stage 1 & 2 – 5 Micron Carbon Block on the metal housing above the filter. This filter should be changed every six months. Two filters are included for up to one year of use. Because of the variation in sediment levels in municipal water supplies and how much water the unit will purify, it is possible that more than two filters per year will be required, although this is rare.
- Stage 3 & 4: Coconut Shell activated catalytic carbon block filter that removes chlorine and chloramines, particulates down to 1 micron, and eliminates or reduces many bacteria and parasites, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, E. coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella dysenteriae, and some viruses like Hepatitis A.
- Chrome lead-free faucet integrated into the unit.
- Three Year Limited Warranty if filters are changed at least annually, as indicated.
Stage 1 & 2 – 5 Micron Coconut Carbon Block Dirt/Rust/Sediment Filter: In normal use, this filter should be replaced annually; however, depending on the quantity of water purified and the level of dissolved solids and sediment in your water, you may need to change it more often. Change this filter if water flow slows to unacceptable levels, or, at minimum, annually.
This filter is labeled Stage 1 & 2 – 5 Micron Carbon Block Sediment Filter on the filter housing.
Stage 3 & 4 – 1 Micron Activated Catalytic Coconut Shell Carbon Block. This filter is installed in the middle (center) vertical stage. It adsorbs chloramines and chlorine while also blocking all particulate matter down to 1 micron. This filter must be changed annually (even if less than five gallons of water are filtered daily), and has multiple functions, including:
- Trapping particles as small as 1 micron, including particles from the 5 micron coconut carbon block in the first filter stage. (Stage 3)
- Adsorbing chlorine and chloramines, and improving taste and odor. (Stage 4)
This filter is labeled Stage 3 & 4 – 1 Micron Chlorine and Chloramines Filter on the metal frame above the centre vertical stage of the unit.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 – Unscrew the filter holder closest to the integrated output
faucet (Stage 2), and remove the filter. Replace the filter holder and tighten
to ensure no leaks. Note, there is a rubber washer in the base of the unit
that must be in place, to prevent leakage when the filter holder is screwed
on.
STEP 2 – Connect the diverter valve to the kitchen faucet, by first
unscrewing the aerator and replacing it with the diverter valve, screwed on
tightly.
STEP 3 – Turn on the cold water, and pull out the stem on the diverter
valve, to divert water to the Integrity Dual-2024 filtration unit. It’s
critical that you never run hot water through the unit, as it’s only designed
to filter cold water.
STEP 4 – Run cold water through the unit for 15 minutes to flush any
carbon dust particles from the sediment filter.
STEP 5 – Turn off the cold water, and open the filter container closest
to the integrated output faucet, which you previously opened to remove the
Stage 3 & 4 filter in STEP 1.
STEP 6 – Replace the Stage 3 & 4 filter (this filter can be installed in
any direction) that you removed in STEP 1.
STEP 7 – Turn on the cold water, pull out the pin in the diverter valve,
and flush the final filter for 10 minutes.
STEP 8 – Enjoy delicious water, free of chlorine, chloramines, lead,
mercury, and a wide variety of contaminants.
