FAUX STONE PANELS – Installation Guide
Required Tools
Power screwdriver
A measuring tape
Electric or hand saw
Screws
An adhesive (Instant Grab #310 )
Caulking gun
Ensure accuracy and levelness by using a level during the installation process. Additionally, accessories like ledge trims, inside and outside corners, and outlet covers can simplify the installation and enhance the final result.
Step 1. Storage of Panels
Siding panels should be climatized for 24 hours prior to installation, unless stored in a cool climate or at room temperature, in which case immediate installation is possible. Store siding panels flat to prevent bowing; if bowing occurs, lay them flat for self-correction.
Step 2. Surface Preparation
For a successful installation, ensure a clean, flat, and dry surface, free
from dirt, grime, and debris. This promotes proper adhesion and a seamless
appearance.
To avoid unevenness or distortions, ensure the surface is flat before
installing the faux panels. Prevent moisturerelated issues and potential
damage to the faux panels by preparing a dry surface prior to installation.
Step 3. Interlocking Siding Panels
The interlocking siding panels feature a protruding lip at the top, securely
fitting behind the panel above, extending to the ends and top/bottom for a
smooth, visually pleasing result.
Experience a flawless finish with the interlocking design, ensuring a cohesive
look that enhances the aesthetic appeal of your project.
Step 4. Precise Cutting for Textured Panel
For highly textured panels, it is recommended to mark and cut all measurements
on the flat backside of the panel. This ensures precise cuts that align
seamlessly with the textured surface.
In many instances, trimming off one side of the “fingers” on the first panel
is necessary to create a straight edge. Following this guideline guarantees a
professional installation with a visually consistent appearance.
Step 5. Installing Faux Siding Panels
Use PL Premium or Enter foam adhesive, applying a generous amount to each
panel. Press firmly onto the mounting surface and secure with screws or nails
for stability.
Start from the bottom corner, installing faux siding panels in a straight
line. Press each panel firmly against one another for a tight and seamless
fit.
Ensure the first row of panels is installed level and straight for optimal
results. Progress upward, completing horizontal rows before moving vertically.
Trim the panel bottom if needed for a straight and level installation on
uneven floors.
Step 6. Finishing Techniques for Faux Panels
To securely fasten the panels, screws or nails should be installed discreetly
along the tongue and other inconspicuous areas. If necessary, holes can be
further concealed by applying wood filler and touch-up stain once dry.
After the first panel is installed, repeat the process, ensuring a tight and
straight fit between each panel. For precise cuts, use a table saw with a
circular saw blade of 80 teeth or greater.
Step 7. Repairing and Touching up
Address imperfections by filling screw/nail holes, miter joints, or other
openings with wood filler or Bondo. Ensure the filler is fully dry before
proceeding with the next steps.
Utilize the provided touch-up paint bottles specific to the panel color. Shake
the sealed containers well for a proper color match. Apply the touch-up paint
with a brush, let it sit briefly, and then lightly wipe with a rag for the
desired effect.
Allow the water-based paint to thoroughly dry, taking into account variations
in drying time based on temperature and airflow. It is crucial to ensure
proper drying for optimal results.
