Workplace Safety

Electric Safety

• Ensure that the tool’s plug fits securely into the outlet without modification. Never use an adapter with grounded power tools. Properly fitting plugs and suitable outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators to prevent an increased risk of electric shock.

• In the event of battery fluid leakage, avoid contact with the fluid. If contact occurs, flush the affected area with water and seek medical help if necessary. Battery fluid contact can cause skin irritation or burns.

Batteries

Handling and Usage:

• Do not disassemble, open, drop, crush, bend, deform, puncture, or shred the battery.
• Avoid modifying, remanufacturing, inserting foreign objects into, immersing in water or other liquids, exposing to fire or excessive heat (including from soldering irons), or placing in a microwave oven.
• Use the battery only with the charging system specified by the manufacturer/supplier.
• Prevent short-circuiting by ensuring that no metallic or conductive objects contact both battery terminals simultaneously.

Disposal and Supervision:

• Dispose of used batteries promptly following local regulations.
• Improper use of the battery or tool may lead to a fire, explosion, or other hazards.
• Supervise the use of the battery and tool when used by children.

Charging

• General Guidelines: This manual contains important safety and operating instructions.
• Before Use: Read all instructions and cautionary warnings on the battery charger and the product using the battery. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury, use this charger only with this product. Batteries from other products may burst, causing injury or damage.
• Environmental Protection: Do not expose the charger to rain or snow.
• Attachments: Using non-recommended attachments may lead to a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.
• Handling the Charger: To reduce risk of damage to the electric plug and cord, pull by the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger.
• Cord Safety: Ensure the cord is positioned where it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.
• Extension Cords:
  • Avoid using an extension cord unless necessary. Improper extension cords can cause fire, electric shock, or electrocution.

Special Safety Instructions

ASSEMBLY

Fitting and Removing the Battery (Sold Separately)

Note: This product is designed to be used with CT20VBAT20A – Certa PowerPlus 20V 2.0Ah Lithium Battery, and CT20VHTLBCHB – Certa PowerPlus 20V Rapid Charger (65W) (sold separately).

• The battery should always be removed whenever you are not using the tool and especially when you are adjusting or transporting the tool to avoid accidental operation.

1. Insert the battery: Slide it into the tool body until it latches into place. Check that the battery is securely locked into place.
2. Remove the battery: Press and hold the button on both sides of the battery pack and slide the battery away from the tool.

Changing the Tool

Before performing any work on the power tool (e.g., maintenance, tool changes, etc.), during transport, and during storage, set the rotational direction switch to the center position. This prevents the power tool from being unintentionally activated, which can lead to injuries.

OPERATION

Charging the Battery Pack (Sold Separately)

Note:
This product is designed to be used with CT20VBAT20A – Certa PowerPlus 20V 2.0Ah Lithium Battery, and CT20VHTLBCHB – Certa PowerPlus 20V Rapid Charger (65W) (sold separately).

1. Remove the battery pack from the handle by pressing the push lock buttons downwards.
2. Verify that the electrical outlet voltage matches the voltage specified on the rating plate of the battery charger. Connect the power plug of the charger to an electrical outlet.
3. Place the battery pack onto the charger. The red LED will illuminate to indicate that the battery is charging.
4. Once fully charged, the red LED will turn off and the green LED will remain illuminated. The charging process typically takes about 1 hour for an empty battery.

Temperature Guidelines for Charging:

• Caution: Avoid charging batteries in temperatures below 4.5°C or above 40.5°C.
• Optimal Conditions: Best performance and battery life are achieved when charged at an air temperature around 24°C.
• Tool Temperature Limits: Charging will not occur if the tool’s temperature is below 0°C or above 45°C.
• Charging Process : The charger may emit a humming sound and become warm during charging, which is normal.

Troubleshooting Charging Issues

1. Verify power supply by plugging another appliance into the outlet.
2. Ensure the outlet is not controlled by a switch that cuts power when lights are turned off.
3. If issues persist, relocate the charger and tool to an area within the acceptable temperature range (4.5°C to 40.5°C).

Maintaining Battery Life

• Recharge the tool when it shows a decline in power during tasks that were previously completed with ease.
• Avoid deep discharges as they can significantly reduce battery life.
• After use, always recharge batteries fully.
• Store the tool in an environment with a temperature between 4.5°C and 24°C.
• Disconnect the charger from the tool once the battery is fully charged to prevent overcharging.

Note: Prolonged use of the tool with depleted batteries can permanently diminish battery performance. Recharge promptly after use.

Changing the Attached Tool

1. Press the quick-change button (2).
2. Insert the tool into the stationary shaft (1).
3. Release the quick-change button (2).

Bringing into Use

1. Press the lock-off switch in any direction (3).
2. Press the Power switch to operate the tool (4). To adjust speed based on the cutting environment, use the speed control switch (5).

Sawing/Cutting

• Use only undamaged, defect-free saw blades. Distorted, blunt, or damaged saw blades could break.
• Consult a qualified trade professional before sawing lightweight building materials.
• Use the tool in Plunge Sawing mode on soft materials such as wood and gypsum plasterboard only.

Sanding

• Apply even pressure to extend the life of the sanding sheet.
• Always wear a dust mask.
• Use vacuum dust extraction.
• Ensure your work area is well-ventilated.
• Observe local regulations for the materials you are working on.

Selecting a Tool

Straight Saw Blade:

• Material: Sheet and tube metals up to approximately 3 mm thick, such as soft aluminum.
• Use: Cutting and plunge sawing. Close to the edge sawing, even in hard-to-reach areas.
• Example: Laying parquet and other floor coverings, including plunge sawing.

Half-Round Saw Blade

• Material: Concrete.
• Use  Cutting.
• Example: Laying parquet and other floor coverings, including plunge sawing.

Scraper

• Materials: Mortar/concrete residues, tile/carpet adhesives, paint/silicone residues.
• Use  Removal of material residues, for example, removing tile adhesive when replacing damaged tiles.

CLEANING & CARE

Always remove the battery from the machine before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents, and the motor housing free of dirt and dust.
• Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
• It is recommended that you clean the device immediately after each use.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device.

Maintenance
Charge the battery pack regularly (at least once every 6 months).

Repairs
Only use accessories and spare parts recommended by Kogan.com. If the equipment should fail someday despite of quality controls and your maintenance, only have it repaired by an authorised electrician.
