Thank you for choosing the Energizer ® Smart In-Wall Outlet. This quick start guide will help you with setup and installation.

What You Need
Before setup, make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz WiFi network that your device will be placed on. You should turn on location and Bluetooth to find nearby networks.
CONNECT THE DEVICE
STEP 1
Download the free Energizer® Connect app from the App Store (for iPhones) or Google Play Store (for Android phones).
STEP 2
Open the app and click “Create Account” by following the on-screen instructions.
REMOVING EXISTING IN-WALL OUTLET
STEP 3
Before installing your Smart-In Wall Outlet, locate your power circuit breaker for that outlet and shut it off before removing the old outlet. Safety Tip: To confirm that the power to the outlet has been shut off, plug another electrical device, such as a lamp, into the outlet to confirm that it cannot be activated and so as to be sure that the outlet is no longer live.
Note: The Smart In-Wall Outlet is not suitable for appliances that require more than 15 amps. Please check the device’s electrical requirements before plugging in.
Required Tools
- Flat head screwdriver
- Long nose pliers
- Unscrew the screws securing the old outlet wall plate and remove the wall plate.
- Remove the screws securing the old outlet to the in-wall outlet box and carefully pull it out. Leave the in-wall outlet box in place.
- Note the position of the electrical wires, that are connected to the outlet, and carefully disconnect them from the outlet.
INSTALL SMART IN-WALL OUTLET
STEP 4
Locate the Live (L), Neutral (N), and Ground (E) markings on the back of the Smart In-Wall Outlet, as shown in the illustration below
- Loosen the 2 screws (L and N) on the sides, and the one screw (E) on the boמּom, of the Smart In-Wall Outlet.
- (a) Take the live wire and push the exposed portion of the wire beneath the ‘L’ side plate and copper color screw. Tighten the screw to secure the wire in place.
- (b) Take the neutral wire and push the exposed portion of the wire beneath the ‘N’ side plate and silver-colored screw. Tighten the screw to secure the wire in place.
- (c) Take the ground wire and push the exposed portion of the wire beneath the ‘E’ plate and greenish-colored screw. Tighten the screw to secure the wire in place.
STEP 5
Once securely connected, carefully push wires and the smart outlet into the wall and a מּach outlet to your outlet box using the long screws provided.

Once installation of your Smart-In Wall Outlet is complete turn the breaker back on. Aﬞer the Smart In-Wall Outlet powers up, the indicator light on the front will start blinking. Confirm the status using the chart below .
Note: The indicator light on your In-Wall Outlet should start blinking rapidly (about 4 times per second) for EZ pairing mode.
STEP 8
Make sure your Bluetooth® is enabled. After logging in, click “+” on the top right of the screen and select “Add device”.
The app will detect the WIFI+BLE-enabled device and ask if you if you want to add it
Make sure your 2.4GHz network is selected, input the password and press confirm
Make sure the check is marked next to the device you want to add, click the + buמּon
NOTE: Once successful then go directly to Step 7. If the app does not detect your device, skip this part and proceed to Step 5.
STEP 9
Select the Power category and confirm that the indicator light is still rapidly blinking. Click “Confirm indicator rapidly blink”.
STEP 10
Confirm that the displayed WiFi network is your 2.4GHz WiFi network, enter your WiFi password and click “Confirm”.

STEP 11
Your Smart Device will now be connected to the network. Confirm the seמּings for your device and then Click “Done”.
Your Energizer ® Smart In-Wall Outlet is now ready to use. You can now set schedules, and timers and control your Smart In-Wall Outlet remotely. VOICE ACTIVATION
To enable voice access for your Smart Device, you will need to link the Energizer® Connect skill with your choice of voice assistant. Authorize your account with the Alexa skill using the username and password from your Energizer® Connect app. Using the name you assigned your Smart In-Wall Outlet, you can ask Alexa to turn on/off your Smart In-Wall Outlet. Ex: “Alexa, turn on bedroom fan”.

Make sure your Alexa device is installed and set up first
STEP 1
Open your Alexa app.
STEP 2
Open the menu to search for “Skills”.
STEP 3
Search for & choose Energizer ®Connect
STEP 4
Authorize your account with the Alexa skill using the username and password from your Energizer® Connect app.
STEP 5
Using the name you assigned your Smart In-Wall Outlet, you can ask Alexa to turn on/off your Smart In-Wall Outlet. Ex: “Alexa, turn on the bedroom fan”.
Voice Activation for the Google Assistant
Make sure your Google Assistant device is installed and set up first.

Open your Google Home app
STEP 2
Click the “+” to add a new device
STEP 3
Click “Set up device”
STEP 4
Click “Have something already set up?”
STEP 5
Search for & choose Energizer ®Connect
STEP 6
Authorize your account with the Google Assistant skill using the username and password from your Energizer® Connect app.
STEP 7
Using the name you assigned your Smart In-Wall Outlet, you can ask the Google Assistant to turn on/off your\ Smart In-Wall Outlet.
Ex: “Ok Google, turn on the bedroom fan”.
Voice Activation for Siri
STEP 1
Open the Energizer Connect app and click the “+” at the top right of the Home Screen and select “Add Scene”
STEP 2
Select “launch Tap To Run” and fill out the information.
STEP 3
Once your Smart Scene is created, return to the Smart Scene manager by clicking on the three lines in the top leﬞ of the Home Screen to open the main Menu, and then selecting “Smart Scenes”.
STEP 4
Click the bu מּon at the bo מּom of the screen that says “Add to Siri”.
STEP 5
Select your new Tap to Run Smart Scene from the list and click “Add to Siri”
STEP 6:
Create a custom phrase for Siri to run your Smart Scene. (this can be any verbal command)
Now Siri can use your voice and custom verbal command to turn your Smart Device on or off, adjust the device at the same time as your other smart devices, or whatever you’ve set up as your Tap To Run Smart Scene.

My device won’t connect to my network!
- Make sure you are connected to your 2.4 GHz network and your device is blinking red before you start trying to connect your device.
- You may need to reset your device if you are having trouble. Check out page 2 for the location of your device’s reset buמּon.
- To allow the app to locate the network, you may need to allow permissions for location and turn on your Bluetooth.
- If you are not certain what type of network you have, contact your Internet Service Provider and ask them to create a separate, dedicated 2.4GHz network. You can also do this manually in your router’s seמּings.
- Try moving to a spot closer to your router for connecting.
- You can also purchase a WiFi extender to increase your WiFi range and strength.
- In some cases, you can try using the secondary pairing mode by clicking “Net Pairing Mode” on the Add Device screen (see boמּom of page 3). Follow the on-screen instructions.
