Ebeco Frostvakt 10 – drinking water approved heating cable
- The Ebeco Frostvakt consists of a heating cable and a 2 m long rubber connection cable with an attachment plug. It connects to a 230V power point.
- The heating cable is designed to automatically limit the heat when necessary. There is no risk of the heating cable overheating.
- Ebeco Frostvakt 10 is approved for installation in drinking water (approval type 1289 issued by Kiwa).
Range of applications
Ebeco Frostvakt can be used to advantage in a number of different areas:
- Protecting pipes from frost, interior laying with Supplementary set F-10 (E 89 604 10).
- Water meters
- Protecting pipes from frost, exterior laying.
- Compost
- Greenhouses/hothouses
Installation
Important to bear in mind before installation
- Max. connection length in conjunction with interior laying is 60 m, for exterior laying 100 m.
- Max. fuse size is 13 A.
- Max. permitted pressure when installing in water pipes is 8 bar.
- The Ebeco Frostvakt may not be installed in hot water pipes.
- The Ebeco Frostvakt is intended for temporary installations.
- The Ebeco Frostvakt must always be connected via an earth fault relay.
- The Ebeco Frostvakt may only be covered with material that withstands a minimum of +65 °C.
- The rubber cable must not be replaced, if it is damaged the entire Ebeco Frostvakt must be scrapped.
Installing exterior frost protection
Use electrical tape to secure the cable to the pipe or component you want to protect from frost. Always insulate the pipe or part in order to retain heat, with pipe wrap for example. If the cable is too long, or if you want to have a higher power output, you can also install the cable around the pipe or part as a spiral. On water meters or larger pipe fittings, wind the cable. It doesn’t matter if the cable is crossed. Neither the cable nor the part will get too hot.
Installing interior frost protection
Important: While the Ebeco Frostvakt is plugged in it always emits a certain amount of power, and this always produces a rise in water temperature. With interior laying the output is considerably higher than with exterior laying. The operating temperature, and thereby the water temperature, varies depending on the mode of installation, the thickness of the insulation and the ambient temperature. For permanent use, and in particular with longer lengths, the cable should be connected via a fixed installation and controlled via a thermostat.
For installation inside a water pipe you also have to add a approved bushing
- (Y connection Ø 25/32 mm E89 604 20 / E89 604 21 alternatively Supplementary set F-10, E89 604 10).
