KNOW YOUR STEAM IRON
HOW TO USE YOUR STEAM IRON
BEFORE FIRST USE
- It is normal for a small amount of smoke to be produced the first time the Steam Iron is used. This will disappear quickly.
- When using the STEAM function for the first time, do not direct the steam towards the laundry, as there may be a small amount of debris residue in the steam vents.
FILLING WITH WATER
- Make sure that both the steam control dial (3) and temperature control dial (10) are in the OFF position.
- Hold the Steam Iron upright so that the water filling inlet (2) is in a horizontal position.
- Fill the water tank (11) through the water filling inlet until the water reaches the MAX filling level. Do not exceed the MAX filling level.
SETTING THE TEMPERATURE
Follow the ironing instructions on the garment label. However, if there are no instructions but you know the type of fabric, please consult the following guidelines:
NOTE: IF THE FABRIC CONSISTS OF VARIOUS KINDS OF FABRICS, ALWAYS SELECT THE TEMPERATURE REQUIRED BY THE MOST DELICATE FABRICS.
STEAM IRONING
- Place the Steam Iron in a vertical position, insert the plug into the mains electrical supply and set the temperature control dial (10) at the minimum/ low heat setting.
- Turn the temperature control dial to the MAX heat marking. The indicator light (9) will illuminate green indicating that the Steam Iron is heating up.
- When the indicator light turns red, the required temperature has been reached and the Steam Iron is ready to use.
- During the ironing cycle the indicator light on the Steam Iron will alternate between red and green as the thermostat maintains the set temperature (you may continue ironing during this process).
- Steam is produced as soon as the Steam Iron is held horizontally
SPRAYING
- Press the spray button (4) to spray water on clothes as often as required.
NOTE: WHEN USING THE WATER SPRAY FUNCTION, ENSURE THAT THERE IS ENOUGH WATER IN THE WATER TANK. YOU MAY HAVE TO PUMP THE SPRAY BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES THE FIRST TIME IN ORDER TO START THE SPRAYING FUNCTION.
URST OR VERTICAL STEAM
- Press the burst of steam button (5) to generate a powerful burst of steam in order to penetrate the fabric and smooth the toughest creases. Wait for a few seconds before pressing again.
- By pressing the burst of steam button at intervals you can also iron vertically (curtains; hung garments, etc.).
NOTE: THE BURST OF STEAM FUNCTION CAN ONLY BE USED ON THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE SETTING.
DRY IRONING
- For ironing without steam/ dry ironing, follow the same instructions as when steam ironing but turn the steam control dial (3) to the OFF position (no steam).
ANTI-CALC SYSTEM
- A special filter inside the transparent water tank (11) softens the water and prevents scale build-up in the soleplate. The filter is permanent and does not need replacement.
NOTE: USE TAP WATER ONLY. DISTILLED AND DEMINERALIZED WATER MAKES THE ANTI-CALC SYSTEM INEFFECTIVE BY ALTERING ITS PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS.
ANTI-DRIP SYSTEM
- This Steam Iron is equipped with a ‘drip-stop’ function: the Steam Iron will automatically stop steaming when the temperature is too low in order to prevent water from dripping out of the soleplate.
- With the anti-drip system, you can iron even the most delicate of fabrics.
AUTO SHUT-OFF
An electronic safety device will automatically switch the heating element OFF if the Steam Iron has not been moved for more than 30 seconds in a horizontal position. If in a vertical position, this will happen after 8 minutes. To indicate that the heating element has been switched OFF, the indicator light (13) will start blinking.
- When the Steam Iron is picked up again the indicator light will stop blinking. The indicator light will illuminate to indicate that the Steam Iron is heating up again.
- Wait for the indicator to turn OFF. The Steam Iron will be ready for use once again.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The self cleaning (12) feature cleans the inside of the ceramic soleplate
(14); thereby removing impurities.
We recommend using it every 10-15 days.
- Set the steam control dial (3) to the OFF position (no steam).
- Fill the transparent water tank (11) to the MAX filling level.
- Set the temperature control dial (10) to the MAX heat temperature.
- Plug the Steam Iron into the mains electrical supply.
- Place the Steam Iron upright on a level, sturdy surface.
- Wait for the indicator light (9) to turn red.
- Unplug the Steam Iron from the mains electrical supply.
- Hold the Steam Iron in a horizontal position over a sink.
- Press the self cleaning button (12) down until the boiling water, steam and impurities come out of the holes in the soleplate.
- When the ceramic soleplate has cooled down, wipe it with a damp cloth.
STORAGE
- After using, lift the Steam Iron with the filling hole pointing downwards to empty the remaining water from the water tank.
- Insert the plug into the electrical socket, and set the temperature control dial to MAX for 1-2 minutes to evaporate the remaining water. Thereafter unplug the Steam Iron from the mains electrical supply and allow it to cool down completely before storing.
