IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions must always be followed including the following:
CAUTION:
Caution! Hot Surface!
This is a stainless steel product and therefore the temperature of accessible
surfaces may get very hot when the appliance is operating. When using your
toaster, please exercise extreme caution and take care not to touch hot
surfaces.
Please read the following instructions carefully before using this appliance:
- Ensure that the voltage on the rating label corresponds to the mains voltage in your home.
- Incorrect operation and improper use may damage the appliance and may cause injury to the user.
- This appliance is intended for household use only. Commercial use will void the warranty and the supplier will not assume responsibility for injury or damage caused when using this appliance for anything other than for its intended use.
- Avoid contact with moving parts.
- CAUTION: This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote control system.
- Close supervision is required when this appliance is used by or near children. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety and they fully understand the hazards involved.
- Regularly check the power cord and the plug for damage. If the supply cord or the plug is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized
- service centre in order to avoid an electrical hazard.
- Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped or damaged in any way. In case of damage, refer the unit to an authorized service centre for examination and/ or repair.
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immerse or expose the motor assembly, plug or power cord to water or any other liquid.
- Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for cleaning purposes.
- Never use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, wash basins, wet or moist areas.
- Remove the plug from the socket by gripping the plug. Do not pull on the cord to disconnect the appliance from the mains.
- Always unplug the unit when not in use and before cleaning.
- The use of accessory attachments that are not recommended or supplied by the manufacturer may result in injury, fire or electric shock and is strictly prohibited.
- A short cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. Ensure that the cord is not in a position where it can be pulled on inadvertently or tripped over, especially by children or animals.
- Do not allow the cord or the appliance to touch hot surfaces and do not place it on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
- Use of an extension cord with this appliance is not recommended. However, if it is necessary to use an extension cord, ensure that the cord is suited to the power consumption of the appliance to avoid overheating the extension cord, appliance or plug point.
- Never carry the appliance by the power cord.
- This appliance is not suitable for outdoor use.Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.
- Always operate the appliance on a smooth, even, stable surface. Do not place the unit on a hot surface.
- CAUTION: Bread may burn, therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such as curtains. The toaster must be attended when in use.
- The manufacturer will not accept responsibility for damage or injury caused by improper or incorrect use, or for repairs carried out by unauthorised personnel.
- If a technical problem should occur, immediately unplug the appliance and take it to an authorised service centre for repair. Never attempt to repair the appliance yourself.
- CAUTION: The temperature of accessible surfaces may be very high when the appliance is in use. Never touch these parts as there is a danger of burning yourself. Ensure that children are always supervised when the toaster is in use.

BEFORE F IRST USE
The first time that you use the toaster, use it without bread. This will pre-
heat the new element and burn off any dust collected during the storage
process. If your toaster is not plugged in and switched on, the control lever
will not lock in the down position.
HOW TO USE YOUR TOASTER
- Only connect the unit to a properly installed and earthed power socket.
- To select the required toasting level, turn the selector clockwise from the lightest level (1) to the darkest level (7). If you are not sure of the level, start at a low level and increase as you become more familiar with the appliance.
- Insert one slice of bread per slot and lower the slot with the lever until it snaps into place.
- The unit will toast the bread and will switch off automatically once the bread is toasted. The toast will pop up automatically.
- Allow the unit to cool down before you put it away.
- To use the special functions: Lower the lever and then press the relevant button – REHEAT, DEFROST, BAGEL or CANCEL. The corresponding LED will illuminate to signal function activation.
- DEFROST: To defrost and to toast frozen bread.
BAGEL: To warm bread on one individual side.
REHEAT: To warm bread already toasted.
CANCEL: To interrupt and stop the toasting procedure.
- DEFROST: To defrost and to toast frozen bread.
IMPORTANT
Never use metal utensils to try to release trapped toast from the slots as it
is highly dangerous to do so and it can damage die appliance. Turn off the
mains electrical supply and unplug the appliance.
Allow die toaster to cool down, turn it upside clown and then gently shake to
release trapped toast/ bread particles.
CRUMB TRAY
Crumbs will accumulate in the crumb tray and may catch fire if not emptied
periodically. When the toaster has cooled down completely, tap the sides of
the case lightly to dislodge any crumbs lodged in the toasting chamber and
pull out the crumb tray. Empty the tray and replace it.
NOTE: Never operate the toaster without the crumb tray fitted.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Pull the mains plug out of the mains and allow the unit to cool down
completely before you clean the unit. Only use a slightly damp cloth to clean
the outside of the unit.
Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaners.
Pull the crumb tray out, remove any bits of bread and put the tray back in.
TROUBLESHOOTING
There are no user-serviceable parts in this appliance. If the unit is not operating correctly, please check the following before resorting to service:
- Have you followed the instructions correctly?
- Is the unit wired correctly and has the power point been turned on?
- Is the plug firmly in the mains socket?
If the appliance still does not work after checking the above, take the appliance to an authorized service centre. Never attempt to service, maintain or repair this appliance yourself.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
THE WARRANTY WILL ONLY BE VALID IF THE PRODUCT IS RETURNED WITH A PROOF OF
PURCHASE TILL SLIP AND ORIGINAL PACKAGING.
The warranty will not be valid if:
- The product has not been installed, operated or maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating instructions provided with the product.
- The product has been used for any purpose other than its intended function.
- The damage or malfunction of the product is caused by any of the following:
- Incorrect voltage
- Accidents (including liquid or moisture damage)
- Misuse or abuse of the product
- Faulty or improper installation
- Mains supply problems, including power spikes or lightning damage
- Infestation by insects
- Tampering or modification of the product by persons other than authorised service personnel
- Exposure to abnormally corrosive materials
- Insertion of foreign objects into the unit
- Usage with accessories not pre-approved by Brabantia
Please refer to and heed all warnings and precautions in the instruction manual.
