Read Before the First Use
The following terms are used in this document and the product warning label to indicate various levels of potential harm when operating this product:

WARNING: Procedures which, if not properly followed, create the probability of property damage, collateral damage, and serious injury OR a high probability of superficial injury.

CAUTION: Procedures which, if not properly followed, create a possibility of physical property damage AND a small possibility of injury.

This product is specialist and must be operated with caution and expertise. It requires some basic mechanical ability. Failure to operate this product in a safe and responsible manner could result in injury or damage to the product or other property. This product is not intended for use by those who are under 16 years old. DO NOT use this product with incompatible components, or alter this product in any way outside of the documents provided by the manufacturer. This document contains instructions for safety, operation and maintenance. It is essential to read and follow all of the instructions and warnings herein, prior to assembly, setup or use, in order to operate the product correctly and avoid damage or serious injury.

Introduction

The MG-12000P Flight Battery (hereafter referred to as “the battery”) has a capacity of 12,000 mAh at a voltage of 44.4 V. The battery features a charging and discharging monitoring function, and its advanced power management system and high energy battery cells mean it can provide the power that your aircraft requires.

Battery Functions

The functions of the MG-12000P are as follows:

  1. Battery Level Display: The current battery level can be indicated by the
  2. Communication: Battery parameters including voltage and charge are transmitted to the aircraft to enable the aircraft to take appropriate action when battery parameters

  6. Auto Balancing: When the battery is in power saving mode for certain length of time, it automatically balances its cell voltages.
  7. Auto Discharging: If the battery remains fully charged for more than 10 days it automatically discharges to 65% charge.
  8. Removable Ports: If the Power Port or Charging and Balancing Port are found to be burned, corroded, or otherwise damaged they can be replaced by an authorized dealer.
  • * Refer to the safety requirements on the label affixed to the battery before using the battery. Users accept full responsibility for any violations of the safety requirements stated on the label.
    • The product warranty expires 6 months after the battery is delivered or after 180 charging/ discharging cycles, whichever is sooner. The product warranty is void if any battery exceptions occur due to misuse of the battery. (The current number of charging/discharging cycles can be checked in the mobile device app used when flying the aircraft )
Using the Battery

Check if the battery firmware version is compatible with the aircraft before using the battery. (Refer to the aircraft documentation for information about how to check the firmware version compatibility). If the firmware update fails be sure to retry. Only use the battery once it has been successfully updated. Refer to the LED Patterns section to see the warning of battery update failure.

Turning the Battery on/off

The battery turns on/off automatically when connected to / disconnected from the aircraft.

  • DO NOT allow the battery to come into contact with any kind of liquid. DO NOT leave the battery near a source of moisture and do not use the battery in humid If the inside of the battery comes into contact with liquid corrosion may occur, potentially resulting in the battery catching fire, and possibly leading to an explosion.

  • Electrolytes in the battery are highly If any electrolytes come into contact with your skin or eyes, immediately wash the affected area with fresh running water for at least 15 minutes, and then see a doctor immediately.

  • If the battery falls into water with the aircraft during flight, take it out immediately and put it in a safe and open area. Never use it again, and dispose of it properly as described in the Battery Disposal section below.

  • Put out any battery fire using sand or a dry powder fire extinguisher.

  • Always use a clean, dry cloth when cleaning the battery terminals otherwise connection failure may occur.

  • DO NOT place the battery on or near wires or other metal objects such as spectacles, watches, jewelry, and hairpins which could lead to the battery ports becoming short- circuited.

  • Only use officially recommended Only purchase batteries from authorized dealers. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for any damaged caused by non-officially recommended batteries.

  • Never use or charge swollen, leaky, or damaged batteries. If your battery is abnormal, contact an authorized dealer for further assistance.

  • The battery should normally be used in the temperature range 41° to 113° F (5° to 45° C). Use of the battery in environments above 122° F (50° C) can lead to fire or explosion. Use of the battery in temperatures below 32° F (0° C) can lead to a sharp decrease in flight (If using the battery in the temperature range 23° F to 41° F (-5° to 5° C) it must first be ensured that the battery voltage is at its maximum. In this temperature range the aircraft should be flown with no load.)

  • DO NOT use the battery in strong electrostatic or electromagnetic environments or near high-voltage transmission lines otherwise the battery control board may malfunction and cause a serious accident during flight.

  • Never disassemble or pierce the battery in any way or it may leak, catch fire, or

  • Batteries that fall off are very DO NOT use such batteries and dispose of them as described in the Battery Disposal section.

  • DO NOT put the battery in a microwave oven or in a pressurized container.

  • DO NOT drop, strike, impale, or manually short-circuit the battery.

  • DO NOT place heavy objects on the battery.

  • Always hold the bar instead of the cables or the rubber belt when lifting the battery.

  • Ensure the battery is fully charged before each flight.

  • Immediately land the aircraft if a critical battery level warning appears and replace the battery with a fully charged one.

  • When operating in low temperature environments, before using the battery first leave it in a room temperature environment and allow it to gently warm to above 41° F (5° C) (ideally above 68 ° F (20° C)).

  • Cover the ports with the rubber covers when the battery is not in use to protect the ports from moisture and dirt, which could lead to corrosion or other issues.

LED Patterns During Charging

During charging the LEDs indicate the current battery level. (Note: During charging, if a battery exception has occurred the LEDs indicate which exception has occurred. Refer to the Battery Exception LED Pattens section for further information.) Disconnect the battery when charging is complete.

Battery Exception LED Patterns

If a battery exception occurs during charging the LEDs indicate which exception has occurred. (Note: During charging, if no battery exception has occurred the LEDs indicate the current battery level. Refer to the Battery Level LED Patterns section for further information.) To check for battery exceptions while the battery is not being charged press the Battery Level Indicator button once. (Note: If no battery exception has occurred, when the Battery Level Indicator is pressed the LEDs indicate the current battery level. Refer to the Battery Level LED Patterns section for further information.) Battery exceptions may also be lead to a warning being displayed in the mobile device app used when flying the aircraft. The battery can self- recover from some battery exceptions. If one of the following battery exceptions occurs, let the battery rest for a while to attempt self-recovery:

Only use an approved charger for charging. The manufacturer takes no responsibility if the battery is charged using an unapproved charger.

  • DO NOT charge the battery near flammable materials or on flammable surfaces such as carpet or Never leave the battery unattended during charging.
  • Never try to charge a damaged Never use a damaged charger.

  • DO NOT allow the battery to come into contact with any kind of liquid. Charging a wet battery could be very dangerous.
  • When the LEDs indicate that a battery exception has occurred stop charging immediately and review the exception. DO NOT use the battery until the exception has been resolved.
  • When the battery is not being charged, unplug the Charging and Balancing Cable (if used) to avoid a short-circuit occurring and cover the Charging and Balancing port with the rubber cover to protect the port from moisture and dirt, which could lead to corrosion or other issues.

Battery Storage

Use the rubber belt to securely tie the battery power cable for storage as shown in the figures below. Ensure that the rubber covers are not damaged and are clear of contaminants such as liquids and residues, then use the covers to carefully cover all the ports to avoid extended terminal exposure.

  • Keep batteries out of the reach of children and pets. Seek professional medical advice immediately if a child swallows any battery part.
  • DO NOT leave the battery near heat sources such as a furnace or heater. DO NOT leave the batteries inside a vehicle on hot days. It is strongly recommended that the battery is never stored in environments outside the temperature range of -4° to 104° F (-20° C to 40° C). Never store the battery in environments (such as vehicles on hot days) where the temperature may exceed 122° F (50° C).
  • DO NOT drop, strike, impale, or manually short-circuit the battery.
  • DO NOT place the battery on or near wires or other metal objects such as spectacles, watches, jewelry, and hairpins which could lead to the battery ports becoming short- circuited.
  • Never attempt to travel with or transport a damaged battery or a battery with a charge level higher than 30%.
  • Charge the battery until the battery level reaches between 30 % and 50 % for storage if the power level is less than 10% after flight.
  • It is recommended that the battery is stored in a battery safe bag when storing for more than 3 months.
  • Even when the power cable is secured using the rubber belt it should not be used for lifting the battery. Always hold the bar instead of the cables or the rubber belt when lifting the battery.

Battery Disposal

Dispose of the battery in specific recycling boxes in your local area and only after a complete discharge. DO NOT place the battery in regular trash containers. Strictly follow your local regulations regarding the disposal and recycling of batteries.

Battery Care and Maintenance

  • Never use or store the battery or the charger when the temperature is outside the recommended ranges.
  • Never store the battery in vehicles in summer where the temperature is far above 114 ° F (50° C).
  • Never over-charge or discharge, as this may lead to battery cell damage.
  • Battery life may be reduced if not used for a long time. Fully charge and discharge the battery at least once every three months to maintain battery health.
  • Regularly clean the rubber covers and change the rubber covers if there is any liquid or residue on them. If the Power Port or Charging and Balancing Port are found to be burned, corroded, or otherwise damaged contact an authorized dealer to arrange replacement.

Charging Time

  • A power cable adapter is required when the battery is used with DJI MG-1 or DJI MG-1S aircraft.
  • A charging and balancing cable and a power cable adapter are required if charging the battery using an MG Smart Battery Charger.
