NANOCOLOR Ammonium 2000 Photometric Analyses Test Tubes

Product Information

The product is a Nanofix R2 kit used for the photometric determination of a blue indophenol dye based on a reaction with hypochlorite and salicylate at a pH of 12.6 in the presence of sodium nitroprusside. The method can be applied for analyzing seawater. Turbidities cause higher measurement values. The product comes with reagents and accessories required for the procedure.

Overview

The test is suitable for the photometric determination of ammonium. The test is in accordance with APHA 4500-NH3 F, ISO 7150-1, DIN 38406-E5 and EPA 350.1.
The test is suitable for surface water, ground and drinking water.

  • • Measuring range:
    300 – 1600 mg/L NH4-N (method 0021)
    400 – 2000 mg/L  NH4+ / NH3 (method 0022 / 0023)

  • Number of tests: 20

  • The wavelength for photometric determination: 585 nm

  •  Shelf life: 12 months

  • Reaction time: 15 minutes

  • Storage temperature: 15 – 25 °C

  • Storage conditions: upright

Method

Photometric determination of a blue indophenol dye based on a reaction with hypochlorite and salicylate at a pH of 12.6 in the presence of sodium nitroprusside.

Interferences
Turbidities cause higher measurement values.

Reagents and accessories

The kit comes with all the necessary reagents and accessories required for the procedure.

Contents of reagents set:

  • 20 tubes A

  • 20 NH4 2000 test tubes

  • 1 NANOFIX R2
    Required devices:

  • MACHEREY-NAGEL photometer

  • Digital piston pipette 100 – 1000 µL (REF 91677) with pipette tips (REF 91667)

  • Tweezers for sampling NANOFIX capsules (REF 916114)

Sampling and preparation

No specific information is provided in the manual regarding sampling and preparation.

See DIN EN ISO 5667-3-A21.
Adjust to pH 1 – 13 prior to analysis.

Quality control

The product manual provides a reference number (REF: 985002 en) for quality control.

The measurement of a blank value and a standard is recommended before every measuring series as quality control measure.

Quality data:
The following data were determined during production accor-ding to ISO 8466-1 and DIN 38402-A51:

  • Number of LOTs: 15
  • Standard deviation of the method: ± 19 mg/L NH4-N
  • Coefficient of variation of the process: ± 2.02 %
  • Confidence interval: ± 45 mg/L NH4-N

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Take a test tube.
  2. Add the sample to be tested to the test tube.
  3. Add the required amount of reagent to the test tube.
  4. Seal the test tube and shake it vigorously.
  5. Wait for 15 minutes.
  6. Clean the outside of the test tube.
  7. Measure the values using a photometer.

Specified data for the procedure

  • Sensitivity (absorbance of 0.010 A corresponds to):
    11 mg/L NH4-N

  • Accuracy of a measurement value: ± 55 mg/L NH4-N LOT-specific certificates are available at www.mn-net.com.

Procedure

  1. Open test tube A. Pipette 500 µL of sample into test tube
  2. Seal test tube and shake it vigorously
  3. Open test tube NH4. Pipette 200 µL of solution A into test tube
  4. Add 1 NANOFIX R2
  5. Seal test tube and shake it vigorously
  6. Wait 15 min
  7. Clean outside of test tube
  8. Measure

Notes
Test a sample of distilled water (REF 918932) to generate a blank value for the reagent.
When using other photometers, make sure measurements are possible in test tubes (16 mm OD) and calibrate the method.
Correction value e. g. for colored or turbid samples possible (see photometer manual).
Information regarding safety can be found on the box’ label and in the safety data sheet. You can download the SDS from www.mn-net.com/SDS.
