INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Hope the Rainbow Husky. Translate Hope’s barks through her Magic Stethoscope! Hold it to her chest to understand what she needs you to do! Hope talks,
moves and makes different sounds to show you if she’s hungry, has a cold, has hurt her leg or feels itchy. Use her accessories to make sure she gets what she needs.

GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION

  1.  Make sure the unit is turned Off.

  2. Find the battery cover located on the bottom of the unit and use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and open the battery cover.

  3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.

  4. Install 4 new AA (LR6/AM-3) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box.

  5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

BATTERY NOTICE

  • Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance.
  • Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.
  • Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable, or new and used batteries.
  • Do not use damaged batteries.
  • Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
  • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if removable).
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.

Disposal of batteries and product

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain
substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health.

The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in Battery Directive (2006/66/EC).

PRODUCT FEATURES

  1. Off/Low Volume/High Volume Switch
    Locate this switch on the bottom of the unit. To turn the unit ON, slide the switch from OFF to the Low Volume or High Volume position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the switch to the OFF position.
    To adjust the volume, slide the switch between the Low Volume and High Volume positions.

  2. Motion
    a. Moving Hope’s Head Left and Right Combined with cute sound responses, Hope the Rainbow Husky will move her head to the left and right while her eyes open and close and her ears move.

    b. Lying Down and Sitting Up Combined with cute sound responses, Hope the Rainbow Husky will move her body to lie down and sit up while her tail wags.

    NOTE: Do not turn Hope’s head manually and do not force Hope to lie down or sit up manually, otherwise the motion may get damaged.

  3. Sensor (for Magic Stethoscope)
    The Magic Stethoscope will translate Hope’s cute sounds into human voice. At anytime, you can place the Magic Stethoscope on Hope’s chest to hear what she says in human voice. The light on the
    chest will flash to show you where. Keep holding the Magic Stethoscope on her chest to hear complete sentences.

  4.  Forehead Button
    Touch Hope the Rainbow Husky’s forehead to hear cute sound responses or a sing-along song.

  5. Back Button
    Touch Hope the Rainbow Husky’s Back Button to scratch her back or hear cute sounds and barks.

  6. Ear Button (for Thermometer)
    Use the Thermometer to take Hope’s temperature from her left ear and hear cute sound responses.

  7. Heart-Shaped Button (for Syringe)
    Use the Syringe to give Hope an injection on the Heart-Shaped Button on her back.

  8. Mouth Button (for Bone)
    Feed Hope by pressing the Bone to her Mouth Button.

  9. Leg Button (for Bandage)
    Put the Bandage on Hope’s left leg if she asks for it. A light on her leg will light up to show you where.

  10. Recovery Collar
    Put the Recovery Collar on Hope’s neck to protect her when she is ill.

  11. Storage Bag
    Use the Storage Bag to store all Hope’s accessories.

Automatic Shut Off

To preserve battery life, Hope the Rainbow Husky will automatically power down after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by switching between the Low
Volume and High Volume levels, or by pressing any button, including the Forehead Button, Ear Button, Mouth Button, Leg Button, Heart-Shaped Button or Back Button.
NOTE : Hope the Rainbow Husky’s chest and left leg will flash several times and power down when the unit’s battery level is low. If the unit powers down while playing, we suggest replacing with a new set of batteries.

TO BEGIN PLAYING WITH HOPE THE RAINBOW HUSKY

When you play with Hope the Rainbow Husky for the first time, slide the switch from the High Volume position to the Low Volume position and wait for a few seconds to exit Try Me mode. You will
hear three ‘du’ sounds when you have exited Try Me mode. You can then press any button to activate the unit and start playing.

ACTIVITIES

Hope the Rainbow Husky has different moods/situations she reacts to. When she is inactive or you play with her for a while, she will change her mood/situation. Sometimes she is happy and wants to play with you; sometimes she will get poorly, sleepy or hungry and want you to take care of her. When in a specific mood/situation, you can press any button to play with her. At anytime, you can place the Magic Stethoscope on Hope’s chest to hear what she says in human voice.

  1. Happy
    Press Hope’s Forehead Button to hear her sing a song. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/situation.

  2. Play a Trick a. Peek-a-boo Press Hope’s Forehead Button to play peek-a-boo and hear her sing a song. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/situation. b. Tickle Press Hope’s Back Button to tickle her and hear cute sound responses. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/ situation.

  3. Eager for Attention
    Press any button to play with her. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/situation.

  4. Getting a Cold
    If Hope says she has a cold, use the Syringe to give her an injection on the Heart-Shaped Button. Once finished, Hope will feel better and return to her normal mood/situation.

  5. Has a Fever
    If Hope says she has a fever, use the Syringe to give her an  injection on the Heart-Shaped Button. Once finished, Hope will feel better and return to her normal mood/situation.

  6. Leg is Hurt
    A light on Hope’s left leg will light up to show you her leg is hurt. Hope can only get better by having the Bandage put on her left leg. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/situation.

  7. Itchy (Ear or Back)
    a. Itchy Ear Hope’s ear is itchy! Press her Ear Button to help her feel better. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/situation. b. Itchy Back
    Hope’s back is itchy! Press Hope’s Back Button to make her feel better. Once finished, Hope will return to her normal mood/ situation.

  8. Sleepy
    Press Hope’s Forehead Button or Back Button to help her sleep. Once finished, Hope will wake up and return to her normal mood/situation.]

  9. Hungry
    It’s food time! Hope’s tummy is rumbling. Feed her the Bone by pressing it to her Mouth Button. Once finished, Hope’s tummy will stop rumbling and she will return to her normal mood/situation.

  1. Song 1:
    Hello, my name is Hope. I’m a sweet and cuddly pup. Oh Oh! I love to bark and play. You are my best friend to-day!

  2. Song 2:
    I was feeling a little under the weather, Thanks for making me feel better! You are very clever, Now, let’s go to play together.

  3. Song 3:
    I feel sleepy, It’s time for bed. Snuggle up and sleep all night,\ Counting sheep till morning bright.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with dry cloth.
  2. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from direct sources of heat.
  3. Remove the battery when not using it for an extended period of time.
  4. Avoid dropping it. Never try to dismantle it.
  5. Always keep the unit away from water.
  6.  Do not turn Hope’s head manually and do not force Hope to lie down or sit up manually, otherwise the motion may get damaged.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn the unit OFF.
  2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
  3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
  4. Turn the unit back ON. The unit will now be ready to play again.
  5. If the unit still does not work, replace with an entire set of new batteries.
