Parent’s Guide

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing Sparklings Penny!
Hi, I’m Penny, welcome to my colour full world of magic! Press my charm to choose a colour, then touch my crest, eyes or tail to decorate them with that colour. Let’s have fun together!

WARNING:

All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable tags, cable ties and packaging screws are not part of this toy and should be discarded for your child’s safety.

NOTE:

Please keep this Parent’s Guide as it contains important information.

WARNING:

This toy produces flashes that may trigger epilepsy in sensitised individuals.

GETTING STARTED

The batteries included are for demo purposes only. Please replace the low capacity Try Me batteries with new batteries for the best performance. Slide the Demo/Off/On Switch to the ON position to start.

NOTE:

Playing at close range for a prolonged period of time may cause fatigue or discomfort. We recommend that children take a 15-minute break for every hour of play.

Battery Removal and Installation

  1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.

  2.  Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit, use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and open the battery box.

  3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.

  4. Install 2 AAA (LR03/AM-4) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box.
    (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance).

  5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

WARNING:

Adult assembly required for battery installation. Keep batteries out of reach of children.

IMPORTANT: BATTERY INFORMATION

  • Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
  • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
  • Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
  • Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES:

  • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

Disposal of batteries and product

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in Battery Directive (2006/66/EC).

The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th August, 2005.

PRODUCT FEATURES

  1. Demo/Off/On Switch
    To turn the unit ON, slide the Demo/Off/On Switch to the ON position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the Demo/Off/On Switch to the OFF position.

  2. Automatic Shut Off
    To preserve battery life, Penny will automatically power down after several seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the crest button, beak button or charm button.

NOTE : If the unit powers down while playing, please install a new set of batteries.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Colour Penny
    Penny lights up in the colours you choose for her. Press Penny’s
    Charm Button to choose a colour. Then, touch her eyes, crest and tail to add the selected colour to them.

  2. Penny’s Mood
    Penny expresses her mood through colour.
    Press her Light Up Crest Button to see how she feels. Then, touch her eyes or tail for some additional colour commentary.

  3. Colour Fun
    Penny likes to pick a lucky colour for you.
    Push her Tail Sensor and she’ll select a lucky colour and tell you how that colour makes her feel.

  4. Tell Penny Your Hopes
    Penny wants you to share your hopes and dreams with her. Cover and hold one of Penny’s Eye Sensors and she’ll ask you to tell her your hopes. Keep her Eye Sensor covered as you tell her. Uncover her Eye
    Sensor and she’ll tell you how fantastic your hopes are

  5. Musical Penny
    Penny loves to sing. Tap Penny’s Beak Button, and she will sing, hum or even surprise you with a kiss! Careful, sometimes she even burps!

  6. Flying Fun
    Penny loves to fly! Help her flap her tail by pushing her Wing Lever. She’ll make magical sounds and cheer as she pretends to zoom through the sky.

  7. Cuddle and Care
    Every peacock needs love. Pet Penny’s Eye Sensors or Tail Sensor to take care of her and get some fun surprises.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
  2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
  3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
  4. Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit to excess moisture.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

  1. Turn the unit Off.
  2.  Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
  3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
  4. Turn the unit On. The unit will now be ready to play with again.
  5. If the unit still does not work, install a new set of new batteries.
