DJO Surround Ankle Brace Instruction Manual
BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.
INTENDED USER PROFILE:
The intended user should be a licensed medical professional, the patient,
the patient’s caretaker, or a family member providing assistance. The user
should be able to read, understand and be physically capable to perform all
the directions, warnings and cautions provided in the information for use.
INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS:
The DonJoy Surround Ankle Brace is designed to support the ankle. It may be
suitable for use following acute and chronic injuries to the ankle. Soft-good
/semi-rigid designed to restrict motion through elastic or semi-rigid
construction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- N/A
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
- If pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while using this product, you should contact your doctor immediately.
- Do not use over open wounds.
- Do not use this device if it was damaged and/or package has been opened.
- If you develop an allergic reaction and/or experience itchy, red skin after coming into contact with any part of this device, please stop using it and contact your healthcare professional immediately. NOTE: Contact manufacturer and competent authority in case of a serious incident arising due to usage of this device.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Adjust and Center Heel Pad: Use the two side pulls on both shells to center the heel pad. Adjust the heel pad as needed so brace is snug and fits comfortably. (Fig. 1)
- Position shells on either side of ankle, align with midline of leg. Secure lower strap first for proper alignment. Step into and lace-up your shoe. (Fig. 2)
- Apply pressure to the sides of the therapeutic bag to allow even flow of pressure within the plastic shell. Wrap the upper strap around calf and secure. Adjust both straps for patient comfort. Be certain the side shells are centered along the ankle and leg. Straps may be trimmed if necessary. (Fig. 3)
- If necessary, adjust the heel pad with the vertical side straps while the brace is on. Using both hands, pinch bottom of shells, and pull straps upward until desired fit is obtained. (Fig. 4)
CARE
DO NOT HEAT therapeutic bag. DO NOT MICROWAVE therapeutic bag. Hand wash in
cold water using mild soap, rinse thoroughly. AIR DRY. Note: If not rinsed
thoroughly, residual soap may cause irritation and deteriorate material. Outer
shell may be wiped down with a damp cloth
