Electrical Safety
WARNING This apparatus must be earthed.
CAUTION Multiple power sources may be present. Disconnect ALL power sources before servicing.
CAUTION The socket outlet shall be easily accessible.
Earthed equipment must be plugged into a socket that has been properly installed and earthed according to appropriate regulations. Never remove the earth pins or modify the plugin anyway. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in any doubt as to whether the outlet is properly earthed. Should the equipment suffer electronic malfunction or breakdown, the earth provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user. Applicable only to Class I (earthed) equipment.

  • Earthed equipment must be plugged into a socket that has been properly installed and earthed according to appropriate regulations. Never remove the earth pin or modify the plugin anyway. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in any doubt as to whether the outlet is properly earthed. • Failure to comply with these operating instructions may impair the safety of this equipment.

  • Only use the cord supplied with the controller to connect to the mains, and the cord supplied with the tool to connect to the controller. Do not modify the cords or use them for other purposes. Use only genuine replacement parts.

  • Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock.

  • Must not be used in explosive atmospheres.

  • Avoid physical contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ovens, and refrigerator s. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.

  • Do not expose the equipment to rain or wet conditions. Water entering the equipment will increase the risk of electric shock. This instruction does not apply to equipment classified as watertight or splashproof.

  • For minimum electrical interference, locate the equipment as far as possible from sources of electrical noise, e.g. arc welding equipment, etc.

  • Do not abuse the power lead. Never use the power lead to carry the equipment or to pull the plug from a socket. Keep the power lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts. Replace damaged leads immediately. Damaged leads increase the risk of electric shock.

  • When working simultaneously with welding equipment, the workpiece must be earthed separately while welding is in progress. This is to prevent the return current from passing through the controller earth cables, in case the return lines for the welding equipment have not been mounted correctly on the workpiece. Desoutter recommends
that earthing be carried out with a conductor area at least as large as the return line for the welding equipment being used.
