These declared values were obtained by laboratory type testing in accordance with the stated standards and are suitable for comparison with the declared values of other tools tested in accordance with the same standards. These declared values are not adequate for use in risk assessments and values measured in individual work places may be higher. The actual exposure values and risk of harm experienced by an individual user are unique and depend upon the way the user works, the workpiece and the workstation design, as well as upon the exposure time and the physical condition of the user. We, Desoutter, cannot be held liable for the consequences of using the declared values, instead of values reflecting the actual exposure, in an individual risk assessment in a work place situation over which we have no control.
This tool may cause hand-arm vibration syndrome if its use is not adequately managed. An EU guide to managing hand-arm vibration can be found by accessing http://www.pneurop.eu/index.php and selecting ‘Tools’ then ‘Legislation’. We recommend a programme of health surveillance to detect early symptoms which may relate to noise or vibration exposure, so that management procedures can be modified to help prevent future impairment.

INSTALLATION

The tool is designed for a maximum operating pressure of 6.3 bar (90 psig). The compressed air must be clean. The installation of a filter is recommended.

• For maximum efficiency and performance, comply with the specification of the air hose (antistatic hose).

OPERATING MODE

The tools are fitted with a progressive throttle action, this allows a low speed with a small throttle opening which is ideal when commencing a drilling operation.

• Always use a sharp drill at the correct drilling speed.

The tool must not be operated at free speed.
The tool is fully stopped only several seconds after the on/off system has been released.

A TOOL DESCRIPTION

• Hold the tool by means of the handle and apply to the fastener to be tightened.
• Push the locker and press the safety lever to run the tool.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Maintenance should be performed by qualified personnel only.

• Prior to any maintenance task:
  – disconnect the tool.

Overhaul and preventive maintenance is recommended at regular intervals once per year or after maximum 1,000 hours of use depending on which occurs sooner.

Assembly and disassembly

• Never connect a partly assembled tool to the air supply.

Warning
The rotor blades in this tool have a PTFE content. The normal health and safety recommendations concerning PTFE must be observed when handling these rotor blades.

• Do not smoke.
• Wash hands before commencing any other activity.

Motor components must be washed with cleaning fluid and not blown clear with an air line.
The silencer must be replaced when dirty. Do not clean and re-use.
The use of spare parts other than those originally supplied by the manufacturer may result in a drop in performance or in increased maintenance and level of vibration and in the full cancellation of the manufacturer’s liability.

• Follow standard engineering practices and refer to figures/exploded view for the mounting of component subassemblies.
• Prior to putting the equipment back into service, check that its main settings have not been modified and that the safety devices work properly.

Meaning of the pictograms

Left hand thread
When reassembling, apply the recommended glue
When reassembling, tighten to the required torque
When reassembling, lubricate with the required grease or oil.

Lubrication
This tool is fitted with blades which can operate without lubricated air. However, a small amount of oil allows the tool to provide full power and lengthens its life. The use of dry air with no trace of oil may reduce the life of blades.

If lubrication is required, an air line lubricator should be fitted down stream of the filter.

• Use ISO VG 15.
  Note: full power is achieved using a lubricated air supply.

• Do not apply too much grease on gears or bearings; a thin coat shall be sufficient.

When disposing of components, lubricants, etc… ensure that the relevant safety procedures are carried out.

According to Directive 2012/19/ CE concerning Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), this product must be recycled.

• Contact your Desoutter representative or consult the website “www.desouttertools.com” to find out where you can recycle this product.
