A light table from the walimex pro Shining series is a tool that you no longer want to miss. With this light table, you can light slides, photo negatives, or X-ray images for viewing, sorting, or digitizing. Furthermore, these thin light panels are ideal for a variety of drawing applications where bright lighting from below is helpful. So drawing or copying images, architectural plans, animations, comics, stencils, and more will be a pleasure.

Important safety information

WARNING

Danger of blinding and eye damage
The optical radiation of the LED lamp can blind the eyes and cause after the vision, in case humans or animals look directly at the light source. This can lead to accidents and eye damage.
Make sure that humans or animals do not look directly into the illuminant and keep a safe distance of at least 5 m, if necessary use diffusers between lamp and model or object. Do not use the lamp for illumination purposes when shooting small children or babies.

WARNING
Danger of electric shock, burn hazard
Please note that the device is still connected with the supply voltage even if it is switched off. Just after disconnecting the device from the power supply by pulling out the power cable, the device is actually de-energized.

  • Switch off your device when it is not in use.
  • Switch off your device before mounting and maintenance and disconnect from the power supply.
  • Protect your device against unintended switching on.
  • Unplug the power cord, if the flash is not in use for a long time.

WARNING
The danger of electric shock, fire through short-circuiting
A short circuit could be caused by defective cables and through humidity or moisture. A short-circuit can warm up the conductors to a degree that their insulation or they themselves will melt. This could lead to a fire.

  • Please just use the original cables, which are included in the delivery. They are designed for your device and guarantee the necessary safety for you and your device.
  • Don´t operate the device with wet hands or feet.
  • Operate the device only in dry rooms.
  • Don´t operate the device outdoors.
  • Please only follow this instruction manual for cleaning your device.
  • Make sure that cables and conductors won´t be damaged. Damages could be caused through heat impact, chemical influence or through mechanical impacts as rubbing, bending, tearing, rolling over or nibbling animals.
  • Prevent your device from falling down. In case of a fall, let an electrician check the device before switching it on again.
  • If your device should be damaged or defective or if you notice a burning
    smell:

Disconnect the power supply by pulling out the power cord. Never operate your device with damaged housing or a damaged power cord. Don´t open the device. Never repair the device on your own. The device should only be repaired by electricians.

  • Please follow this instruction manual for maintaining your device.
  • Please just use spare parts, which conform to the required specifications.
  • Illuminants must only be replaced by a skilled electrician.

Quick reference guide

6. Preparing the devices for use

  • Remove the brown protective foil from the acrylic glass underside of the device before first use.
  • Place the light table on a dry, grease-free, and non-slip surface, such as a tabletop.
  • Make sure to find a safe position, the device should not wobble.
  • Pay attention to the correct alignment of the rubber stoppers on the underside of the light table.
  • To achieve a lower height, you can remove the rubber stoppers.

Power supply

7.1 Connecting the power supply

  • Plug the micro USB power connector plug (7) of the included power supply into the power connector socket (4) of the light table.
  • Plug the power cable (Europlug) of the power supply (8) into the socket of your local power supply (AC 100-240V/50-60 Hz).
  • The blue power status LED (5) lights up.
  • The device is ready to use.

NOTE
Compare the local electric power supply with the connection values of the device. Should the connection values not match, please contact info@walser.de.

Operating the device

8.1 Switching the device ON/OFF
The touch-sensitive ON / OFF switch of this light table can be used both for switching on / off as well as for the dimming function of the device. A quick and short contact of the touch sensor activates the ON / OFF function. If you rest your finger on the sensor for a longer period, the dimming function will be activated.

  • Check the correct fit of the power connector plug (7) in the socket of the light table.
  • The illumination of the blue power status LED (5) indicates that the device is ready for operation.
  • Touch the touch-sensitive ON / OFF dimmer switch (3) with a finger.
  • The illuminated area of the device starts to light up.
  • Switch the device off again with a short touch on the ON / OFF dimmer switch (3).
    NOTE
    Please mind to the correct polarity when inserting the micro-USB plug. Frequent failed attempts with excessive force lead to increased wear of the socket.

Setting brightness (dimmer function) / brightness memory function

  • Place one finger on the touch-sensitive ON / OFF dimmer switch (3).
  • The brightness is increased continuously until the maximum brightness is reached, as long as you keep your finger on the touch dimming switch (3).
  • The settings of the brightness alternates between increasing and decreasing the brightness when you remove your finger from the touch dimming switch and replace it again.
  • Set the desired brightness.
  • The light can be switched on and off by a short touch of the dimming touch switch.
  • Touching the touch dimming switch again automatically activates the last selected brightness (brightness memory function).
  • After using the light, please power it off permanently by pulling out the power cable.

Transporting, storing the device

  • Switch off the device (See „Switching the device on, off)
  • Allow the device to cool down completely
  • Unplug the power supply cable from the device
  • If necessary clean the device (See „Cleaning the device“)
  • Lay the device and all disassembled elements into the original article packaging box and transport or store as specified in the technical specifications. See technical specifications.
